  1. I recently did the trade in thing at BPS just to clear out some old equipment that I no longer used While I was there, I noticed they redesigned most of the CarbonLite lineup. I finally pulled the trigger on two combos because I feel that the CL series is finally up to par. I've never owned one before because they were always much heavier and like twice the diameter of other rods I use for comparable power. The reels are a bit lighter than the older 2.0 versions, and look "cleaner". They resemble a smaller Curado DC with the side plate redesign and placement of the magnetic brake control. They have dual brakes...centrifugal and magnetic. They're either 7.3 or 8.3. I picked up a black carbonlite technique specific frog rod, coupled with a new gunmetal gray carbonlite reel in 8.3:1. I plan to use this combo for frogs and punching mats on 30lb braid. I also got one of the newly redesigned white carbonlite rods in MH/XF with a new white carbonlite reel in 7.3:1. This combo will be used for Texas rigged worms and small creature baits with 1/8oz - 3/16oz tungsten bullet weights, and 20lb hercules 8 strand braid. The rods are smaller in diameter than the older 2.0 versions, and the reels feel really nice and smooth. I used the frog rod twice so far and caught a few fish on it pitching jigs. Sensitivity is pretty good...par for a $120 rod I'd say.
  2. I use 20lb on all my baitcasters, 10lb for my spinning reels for bass, and 6lb on my panfish/crappie rigs. Part of the reason I use the Hercules is bc it's thinner than most other braids.
  3. I agree with what he said. The black max was better than the max x, although I'm not a fan of the low end 24Ton graphite rods.
  4. Forward facing sonar is for n00bs that can't find fish with skill and knowledge, so they resort to video gaming them to compensate for their lack of skill.
  5. It's okay, but Hercules is cheaper, is 8 strands instead of 4, and doesn't fade.
  6. Yak repair: Heat gun from harbor freight, HDPE repair sticks. The real trick is heating it up until the plastic actually melts
  7. 95% of my bass fishing is finesse fishing. I'll throw the occasional spinnerbait or chatterbait, but other than that, finesse is where it's at.
  8. Nope. It's been disproven multiple times. It's as "invisible" as clear mono.
  9. Always shop local if you can. If something goes wrong, you can usually resolve it.
  10. It's cheap line that uses the Cajun name to sell said cheap line to gullible people. It's just zebco mono dyed red. Cultural appropriation imo.
  11. ALL fluorocarbon has severe memory issues. It's not less visible than mono. It costs 3-10x as much. It becomes permanently stretched under load. Knot strength is abysmal. But hey..keep spending money on hype. It IS your money to waste after all. KVD won't fix fluorocarbon's drawbacks
  12. This. Steep dropoffs with a dropshot or Texas rigged creature fished slooow in winter.
  13. Anchor trolley.
  14. What features? It's a kayak, not a mini bass boat.
  15. That's bc fluoro is garbage...moreso on a spinning reel.
  16. Seaguar = the most overrated line brand imo.
  17. Makes no difference imo. I have both colors in hercules no fade, and have used both with no discernable difference.
  18. Now imagine a 200 lb bluegill...
  19. I caught at least 80 of em last week on beetle spins. They're like bluegills who are going through a divorce while on pcp. I hauled in a 57lb channel cat on an Abu Garcia silver max combo last year lol Course, it was loaded with 20lb BigGame, so it was just a matter of reeling him in.
  20. Don't. Enough said. Stop spraying lubricant on your line and then putting it in the water to pollute the water.
  21. I never use leaders. Straight braid only.
  22. The Average Fisherman.
  23. At least I'm not the only one who loves Hercules no fade. Same. Been preaching about if for 3 years on my yt channel. It's literally the only braid I've never had any issues with at all. I even use the 50lb camo version for surf fishing reds.
  24. I take off the plastic immediately and treat it with silicone. Makes it easier to clean.
