  1. It has little to do with the actual rods as I've yet to try a Mojo, but I go with the US made Premiers and have no complaints.
  2. Amazon, if you are lucky you'll get your stuff in a day or 2. Before they started all this trouble getting stuff in 4 or 5 days was the norm, now folks complain about it.
  3. Let me know if you find any, been thinking of getting a CT license this year as I live on the MA/CT border. This is the worst cabin fever I've had, maybe cause I joined this forum and read about so many folks getting out while we're still iced in. Yes, I'm jealous. Just started getting our hopes up and we got another 8".
  4. I use the Cabela's or BPS house brand of salt water rods and reels. I fish mostly from the rocks, both rods and reels take a beating pretty quick. Darn things get pretty heavy after a while so keep the weight in mind.
  5. In the fwiw department... I just bought one of the low end Lithium's for my TM. After rx'ing it I got a note from the vendor telling me I'd get a $20 Amazon gift cert if I did an Amazon review and emailed a screen shot of it to them, which I did. Gave it 4 stars as I got it quick, undamaged, looks good, and bench checks ok. A day later I got another email from the vendor, I'll get another $10 if I change it to 5 stars. Sheesh! They are going to have a long wait, don't expect ice out for at least a month.
  6. You can get heated lithium's, this is just one. Operating temp goes to -45F. https://battlebornbatteries.com/product/100ah-12v-lifepo4-heated-battery-kit/
  7. Here's the info for charging from the Dakota web site. " Charge A SLA charger may work, but will reduce performance and lifespan of the battery."
  8. Can you walk me through the soldering iron heat seal trick? Think I'd just burn holes in the tray.
  9. The OP is looking at 24v, mine's 12. FWIW, I did see Lithium's that have a heat blanket or some such in them so they can charge at below freezing temps although I don't recall which. Might be more for home or cabin type solar setups as opposed to fishing.
  10. I'm taking a chance on one of the low cost ENJOYBOT's that Will recommends at about half the price of what I'll call the good ones like Battleborn but they don't have anything in 24v. Time will tell if it works out, if not I'll be paddling back.
  11. I wrote up our last wishes and a sheet with finance info and gave copies to the kids. A couple years ago we cleared out the house of all the stuff accumulated over the last 40+ years that has no use.
  12. I use hiking pants with zip off legs. Have low front zip pockets on the front and another small one with the zipper in one of the upper front pockets. Can't keep stuff in the other pockets in the canoe, thing tend to fall out. Some kind of man made fiber so they dry real quick. I only keep on me what I'd want if I were to flip, which has yet to happen.
  13. We don't have much to pick from, a Cabela's, WM, and Dick's. I'd have to say Cabela's although it's a bit of a drive and are out of what I want as often as not. I did stop by DIck's the other day after not being there for a year or so just killing time on another freezing day, what a total disappointment. The hunting dept is completely gone and fishing is about half of what it was. It's become mostly workout clothing, or at least the clothes that make it look like you work out. 2 other guys were walking around the fishing dept mumbling the same sentiment. I noticed on my last trip to the shore that the small saltwater shops were disappearing. The big stores and online must be killing them off.

Ate fast food when I was younger, maybe a couple times a week for lunch at work. As I got older I cared for it less and less. These days the only time we do fast food is when we are traveling and there is no choice. Never cared about the health aspect one way or the other, don't eat it cause it tastes like crap and I can do so much better cooking my own. May have something to do with the way they've had to change the ingredients to keep the health conscious happy.
  15. I have an old Ego rubber net, maybe 15 years old. The closest I get to snagging a treble is with pickerel, by the time they are done jumping around they throw the hook and it can get twisted around the netting, I don't know how, but it does, sometimes to the extent I have to cut the line to untangle it. FWIW, I have the small size net which is good for 99% of what I catch. Get a 6lb or bigger LM and they barely fit, like with the tail hanging out. I'd go up to the medium if I were to get another. https://www.egofishing.com/products/s2-slider/medium-rubber-net/ I've replaced the rubber netting 2 or 3 times when it starts falling apart. I see they sell a PVC net now, looks like the netting material is thinner strands, which could be nice pulling it through the water,
  16. What changes as the thrust rating rises, bigger prop, higher rpm?
  17. You would be right, I fish ponds and small lakes, and stay home if the wind is up.
  18. I have a little 10' Bass Raider and am looking at trolling motors, the Endura Max series to be specific. The motor selection guide at Minn Kota says a 30lb is recommended for up to 14' but I see most folks getting the 55lb for the same boat I have. A smaller motor is cheaper, lighter, and eats less battery, all of which are attractive, but I'm sure there are reasons others go bigger. So what's the pros of going up in thrust for such a small boat? I will guess at it's faster and maybe chews weeds better?
  19. Same here. Did they even have a beer commercial?
  20. Half time must be for young folks, it was lost time to me.
  21. I like to be on the water just as I can make out where I am, about an hour before sunrise. As it takes me 30 minutes to get out of the house, the earliest I get up is about 03:30. Bed time doesn't really change though, I'm used to crashing about 9 regardless of when I'm getting up.
  22. Thanks folks
  23. Bummer. I probably put more strain on my rods pulling the canoe when snagged then I do catching fish, thanks for the warning.
  24. Milwaukee makes an M18 7 1/4" worm drive saw.
  25. Same, magic eraser sometime over the winter. If you do it every year it only takes a couple minutes.
