I knew I needed non lead for weights but didn't know until I happened to read part of the Mass regs today that it was also required for jig heads under 1 oz, which is of course all of mine. I have all tungsten weights but could use a source for good quality jigs, jig heads, and spinnerbaits. Could also use something to replace the split shot I occasionally use, is Tin my only option? Thanks

Don't know that I'd put the money into a boat at this point in life, but If I could talk myself into it I'd grab a Boston Whaler and go for stripers off shore and in the CT river.

It occurred to me you might want to get just 1 set of regular progressives and see how you make out with them before getting the shades. Many folks don't take to them.

I'm on my 2nd pair of WileyX Omega's https://www.wileyx.com/wx-omega and won't be without. Mine are progressive, polarized copper lenses. They are sort of wrap arounds with light blocking ear pieces so I do not get any light from the sides. They work well but I went thru an optometrist as I was concerned about getting the pupal height correct. If you wear progressives you know what I am talking about. Not cheap but they do exactly what I wanted them to. You can go work your way through the website to see how much they run with the options you want. FWIW, at an optician in an expensive part of town, I was quoted over $1k, the out of the way optician was about half that. If I order in a year that I do not order regular glasses, the sunglasses can be had through my insurance, saving a couple hundred, more or less. I'm allowed the discount on one pair of specs per calendar year.

I'm impressed that some can quote how many fish they caught for the year, I can't even keep track of how many I catch in a day, and I've tried.

I tried shoveling the 5" of slush the am, no way, having a stroke did occur to me. Glad I bought a heavy duty blower 10 years or so ago, don't need the power very often, but it's awful nice when you need it. No problem with the slush ,ketchup is a fair descriptor. Even on high it would only toss it 6 or 8 feet. I've had smaller machines before, the problem is the heavy wet snow blocks up the chute. I have a neighbor with a single stage, I saw someone plowing his drive today.

We have about 4", of slush.

I read somewhere that the boat/kayak rocking can cause stress cracks around the hole, true or false? I've though about doing the same.

For the most part I'm a St Croix guy, the salt water and fly rods differ other than a 3 pc inshore and a 5 wt fly. When I was a kid I used to be amazed to see my uncles hallway that was lines on both sides with saltwater rods, back when I had 1 salt water and 1 fresh. I wouldn't be too far off if I were to do the same 50+ years later.

Come late fall when the bite slows like it does in the high ponds around here, I'm ready to call it quits. Unfortunately, I'm ready to start again and it's only mid winter. I can see a time not too far in the distance where I won't be going at all or darn close to it. Not because I don't want to, more cause I won't be able to. The body is starting to get worn down. I've had 2 good fishing buddies in my life. One passed away two years ago after a couple years of bad health where he couldn't go out. The other's health has gone down hill to where he can't get out either, been that way for about 10 years. but he sure wants to.

If you're into making your own, here's the one I made many moons ago. Holds 8, which seemed like more then I'd even need, 20+ years ago.

Sorry to hear this. Similar happens to RV's parked in storage lots. Folks learn to empty them of anything valuable including the batteries, spare tires, and propane tanks. Crooks will steal anything they can carry.

I use Owner hooks, I've bent a couple J Light's or similar over the years, but it only takes one to stop using them. I don't recall the exact circumstances but I fish heavy weeds a lot, seems sometimes the weeds weigh as much or more then the bass. As far as I know I've not bent a non "light" hook.

I got used to carrying a Victorinox Tinker when I worked, as I have 4 of them one stays with my tackle but it's seldom used.

PB largemouth @ 7lb on a Rage Craw, don't recall the color. Took 20 years to hit 7 lbs. Can't figure out taking a picture one handed with my phone while sitting in the canoe, all I get is about 3/4 of the fish.

Didn't have any bogus charges on my card but I cancelled it anyway as I got the same notice you all did. Unfortunately I only have the 1 charge card, been without since 12/18. Have had to notify 2 businesses to not use the autopay function as the card has been cancelled. If the newer new one doesn't get here soon I have to make more calls. Called Chase again today to report not getting the replacement, they are expediting the replacement for the replacement. What a freaking hassle. Will start looking for my first 2nd CC. Both Chase and TW are now on my naughty list.

Pretty much the same story, minus the prep school. Spent my AF years in the underground at Offutt in computer maint and the next 35 at the WSJ in tech of all sorts. Computers and phones are no problem but... I'm on my 2nd fish finder and still don't know what it's trying to tell me so I don't use them regularly. Temp and depth is all I get out of them. Maybe I need to spend more then $100.

Hi folks, came here after a google search for Bass Raiders and stayed. Been a canoeist since the 90's, building strippers under the misguided impression that it'd be cheaper then buying. When my wife tired of paddling every weekend I started to fish when I went out. Bank fished a bit as a kid and have always done yearly boat striper and cod trips out of Cape Cod or Noank CT. but this was really my first try at learning to really fish. Self taught thru trial and error, in quiet no motor ponds. Had 2 fishing buddies that sadly can't fish any more so the last few years I go alone. Hoping I can get the grandkids into it now that I have the little Bass Raider, trying to teach a kid in a canoe is difficult at best, will find out come spring. Finding lots of good advise here, being self taught I only know a fraction of what you folks do. Never even heard of many of the techniques and baits you talk about. Looks like I'll need to get a bigger tackle box. FWIW, I fish St Croix rods with Stradics, have never been able to master a casting reel although I have a Curado setup that I try once in a while. Also have a fly rig that's fun but difficult to do in the canoe, will have to try it again with the Raider. Take Care, Bob

Good job coming up with the makeup brushes I can squeak by without comment if I buy just a single item, like that high priced reel I wanted. Then late that year, or maybe the next, get the rod I wanted to go with the reel. If I try doing this with the boat I just bought I won't get it in the water till 2024
