    I'd definitely say 5lbs ! Congrats man.
  2. Midnight Eastern is a bit early for us west coast guys! I just got in right now, and wish I had stayed a bit longer.
  3. For me, it's not TOO finesse, 10-12lb line ;D But at the same time, I really do like the 50mg, and have wanted one for some time ;D
  4. I don't think it's available in a 2 piece. Must be a mistake on the tackle site. Mine is only one and Loomis's website shows it as a 1 piece. Ronnie Thank you, I think I saw 2 piece on 2 or 3 different sites. But TW where I order from, says nothing about that, so I'll just assume it's 1 piece. Mhmmm, what reel to put on it? Daiwa Alphas, MG50, Curado, Citica 100dsv, Revo S I'm trying to save as much money as I can, but at the same time, I want a nice reel ;D
  5. Thank you Ronnie, Last question, Some sites I'm seeing it says 2 piece? Is this right!? I sure hope they make a 1 piece Casting Drop shot rod!?!?!?! Any info?
  6. Lake Fork Tackle has a 10/0 as well. You can get the "Cradle weight" that fits on hooks. Or you can get the Lunker City type that clips onto a regular hook. Then you have even more options.
  7. Just looking to hear a few reviews about it before possibly purchasing it. How do you like it ? What else might it be good for, if anything? Shaky Head ? I'm going to have 10-12lb fluoro on it for drop shotting, probably 1/4oz - 3/8oz max. Also, what blank are these technique specific rods built on? Is it close to the IMX in weight / sensitivity? I'd go to the store, but 3 out of 3 local stores, don't have the 822C currently in stock.
  8. 5inch - 5/0 6inch - 6/0 or 7/0 6 1/2 + - 10/0
  9. I'd say that might be it. Lightest I've gone is 15lb fluorocarbon with 1/4oz shaky head and a very small worm. It's much tougher then throwing a shaky head on 10lb line. I use 15lb - 25lb fluoro for everything over 3/8oz.
  10. Never used BPS Fluorocarbon, but I have used / do use 20lb Pline fluorocarbon, and 25lb Seagur Invisx fluorocarbon. I love both. No complaints. Just don't use light baits. Also, I don't use KVD line and lure. Just spool it straight up. Are you casting baits lighter then 3/8oz?
  11. Thanks guys, I was already leaning towards Loomis, but that just really helped it out. I think all my future rods will be IMX's.
  12. Nice going man! I need to get on a pattern like that! Just don't lose that jr!
  13. That really does suck! Hopefully that never has to happen again. Good thing you spoke up and told the pres. Husband shouldn't get mad at you, but I wouldn't blame him for having some "words" for that guy.
  14. The lengthened rear grip seemed to do nothing fo the 765, but maybe it helped with the shorter rods? Maybe the 6'6 and 7ft rods are a bit better balanced. But the 765 I wouldn't have been able to fish for more then an hour without it getting to be too much. This has been the discussion sense the dobyns rods came out ;D Like I said, the only reason I got them is because of the weight in the butt, to me, the rod feels lighter if it's balanced properly, as opposed to a lighter rod, that's poorly balanced.
  15. Definitely not for senkos. I'm sure you could get away drop shotting, as the hook is pretty much exposed, you're not pulling the hook through plastic. I'd send it back until they got it right. It's their fault they can't get it right, and you paid the money. Don't waste $150 if your'e not gonna use it for what it's for. If you throw cranks a lot, then that's another story.
  16. Dobyns rods are made by Gary Dobyns, the same guy who played a large part in making Powell bass rods. Dobyns are much better balanced. For that reason alone, I have 3 Dobyns and 0 Powells. The hook keeper on the powells also catches the line sometimes, and can get in the way. I tried the Dobyns 765 vs the Powell 765 with a Revo STX, the Powell was extremely tip heavy, and balanced quite high. The dobyns on the other hand, balanced just above the reel, and wasn't tip heavy at all. Dobyns is just a newer version of the powells pretty much, with a few upgrades ;D Good info man. That really helps with my decision considering im putting an STX on it. No problem, I already had 2 dobyns rods, so I was leaning that way to start, but after putting the STX on both 765 flipping sticks, the decision became clear as day.
  17. Price range is relatively the same, and curious to know, from those of you who have TRIED both, what your thoughts are. I have a GLX, no IMX's , and have only had limited use with the old Legends.

  19. I know everyone says Clinch knots are a no-no on braid, but that's all I use, never with a single problem. I just don't put the line back through the bottom. I've bent out superline hooks, and even broken a hook pulling out a snag, on 50lb braid with the clinch knot (just not entering the line back through the bottom.
  20. That's the exact reason I stopped using it. Color was so visible in the water, even braid doesn't stand out as much.
  21. I use 8lb fluoro without any troubles on a 2500 Stradic. No troubles what so ever, aside from it breaking!
  22. anyone have experience with Invisx on a spinning reel? Just trying to figure out if I'm going to stay with 8lb, or up it to 10lb.
  23. If you're willing to spend $220, get the Dobyns 765 flipping stick. Only thing is, it's not telescopic. Makes it lighter, and I believe a bit more sensitive. If you need a telescopic rod, the Kistler 07 model is on sale for $220 at ***. I don't have any personal experience with this rod. The dobyns 765 is counter weighted, and is PERFECTLY balanced with a Revo STX or Daiwa Zillion.
