Why not keep bass for the table?
Bass fishing is the most fun fishing I have ever done. I release them partly because I want to keep the fish around to catch for another day. Each year, that fish you caught today, will continue to grow, you never know in 3 years you'll catch that fish and it will become your new Personal Best. If you want to eat fish, there are 10 fish that taste better then bass do, and aren't fished for sport. Why not keep the sport fishing of bass, alive and well by releasing them? You nailed the releasing females, but what about releasing the males? They're the ones protecting the eggs. You keep the male, and by by eggs. Keep some smaller ones, 12"-15" during the summer / fall and even winter months. But during spring, keep'm around.

amazing day
This fish is 23inches and 17inch girth. Calculator says 8.8, it was 8lbs 13oz. Hope this comparison helps. I'd say 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 lbs.

swimbait/jig rod
What size swimbaits are you looking to throw?

Flick Shakes ...
Why's everyone so concerned with durability of worms and stuff? Fishing isn't a cheap sport, if they work, use them. That's all that should matter I've caught 1 fish on them, small tiny fish, and the worm was fine. But I don't fish them much at all.

Senkos are amazing
Big fish eat senkos, plain and simple. But FC is right, the chances of catching a DD is WAY great with a swimbait then it is on a senko. No one can argue that.

Jig line preferences
I've been using 15lb pline fluorocarbon without a single complaint. Memory shouldn't be a problem with jigs on a baitcaster at all unless you're using a really light jig. I fish 3/8oz jigs with no problem on 15-20lb fluorocarbon... I'm moving up to 20lb fluorocarbon I think.

How many rods do you bring when bank fishing?
Depends where I'm fishing, and how close i will be fishing to my car. I take 3-4 with me every time, but usually only 1-3 come out at a time

Need help explaining Catch and Release to someone
He fishes for trout with another rod so he knows how to catch other fish. He pays $6 for parking and $4 for permit each and every time he fishes there. $10 can buy you fish dinner! Regardless, If I see him catch a big fish with eggs i will say something.

When to start with frogs???
Once water temps are around 60, should start seeing a few frog fish, then the warmer it gets the better.

Need help explaining Catch and Release to someone
I've been fishing a smaller local reservoir, in which an older gentleman has been fishing as well. The fish have begun their move onto beds, in 1-3ft of water. He keeps any bass he catches, which is usually 1-5 fish a day, he's keeping males that are protecting beds, and females that are on beds. I understand it is LEGAL to keep fish, and he's not doing anything illegal. But at the same time, keeping 1-5 bass every day, 7 days a week, is also un-needed, and especially at a crucial time in the year in which the bass are so vulnerable and easy to catch. Is there anything that can be done? One local tried to explain to him about why it needs to be let go, but I didn't hear the conversation, or know what was talked about. So I'm thinking about confronting him, calmly and politely, but what would be the best way to do it? I've even thought about offering to pay the guy $50 just to release all fish until June. But can't monitor if he's keeping that promise.

Pretty Easy Spawn Question
Bigger fish spawn deeper then 2-4ft generally. But over all, you can find spawning fish in 8inches of water, and in 15ft of water on beds. Really just depends.

Favorite flippin stick between $180-$250
Dude, I might look at that, I'm leaning towards an 8ft flippin stick, so this would be great! How sensitive / light is it?

Shimano reels..best bang for the bucks!
The old white stradic for the price, cannot be beat. I've used both Symetre and Stradic, and there is a difference, but not huge. But the white stradic can be had for $80-$90 new , and it is by far the BEST reel for the price.

Favorite flippin stick between $180-$250
I've heard mixed things about the guides on the carrot stix. How are the guides with braid? I'm going to be throwing 50-65lb braid on this rod.. It's probably going to double as a Frog rod just in the summer months.

Extreme Tubo?
Read an article about it in FLW. I thought for sure the thing didn't even have a hook on it. It was used to tick off inactive fish that were not biting. Than they would throw another bait down there and they would smash it. To much work IMO. I thought it was dumb as well. Yah, I know how they're fishing it, but at the same time, i'm sure a ticked off fish WILL hit that. And there is a spot for a hook to go..

Favorite flippin stick between $180-$250
Looking for a 7'6-8ft flippin stick between $180-$250 Suggestions? The loomis flippin sticks are a bit more then $250 but a possibility, Dobyns are $200, and Powells. Looking for the lightest flippin stick I can afford.

Few More
Hopefully I can stay on them, cross my fingers!

Extreme Tubo?
The only problem with that set up is, once you hook the fish you have a cup on the end of your line as well. It could cause problems. I know the article the guy says he drops a white senko down and tries to get the fish to hit the senko, so that he doesn't have to fight the fish with a cup on the end.

Few More

Finally, A new PB....
Haha, I was gonna post for you and say you caught it on a cheeto too, lol. I guess the secret is out for 9lb bass in Cali. Gummy worms are the ticket for 10lbers, but I'm all out! I plan on fishing 5 days a week for the next few months to hopefully get that one DD! We got 9's in the same day, maybe we'll get our DD's on the same day too.
