Not sure if the BPS Extreme rods are still on sale for $64, but if they are, they're great rods.

For $250 , the Gloomis IMXs rods would be my first choice. I have a MBR844C GLX that I absolutely LOVE, I got it for $290 MSRP: $355 I believe. Or you can get the MBR844C IMX for $245 or something. Great jig rod, and great all around rod.

Do a search on this subject, there was a thread up a few days ago about it. I have it in 10lb / 2lb diameter , it's not very clear, it's pretty white in the water as well, even after extended use. But, not sure whether or not the fish see it, or if it plays a role anyway.

I'm not opposed to a MH spinning rod, BUT I just dont' feel there's that much of a need for one. I have a M and a ML, and prefer my ML rod. I still have the confidence in that rod to bring in a 10lber with moderate ease. Plenty of back bone, the bend of the rod is fun!

I've thrown 15lb P-Line CXX and Fluorocarbon in the thickest of cover, docks, and 10 feet back into tullies, still able to drag fish out. It's GREAT stuff, and like someone else said, the breaking point is somewhere above 25lbs, I think you'd be safe even catching the world record.

For guys who cast with both hands... I do the same thing with BC's, and have no problem casting a split grip with both hands. I just place one of my hands on the butt.. I notice absolutely no difference casting or feel wise Split grip vs Regular... Maybe some guys are just so used to one thing, it's tough to change.

The split grip in itself is more a personal preference. It's not going to reduce, or single handedly make the rod more sensitive. The one thing that I do believe in, that many split grip rods have, is the no front grip. This to me, makes a TON of difference, because instead of putting my finger on more cork, my fingers are directly touching the rod blank.

Make your own, much better quality then mass produced jigs.

No need for 20lb CXX for your jig rod, that's over kill. 15lb CXX would be plenty, and you shouldn't have as much trouble. I'd be very surprised as to why people feel they need 20lb CXX for bass fishing aside from throwing swimbaits...

I want mine hand signed by you. That way, once you make it real big, they'll be a collectors item!

Do a search, this thread has been done quite a few time with pages and pages of great responses. I'd take an 8" hudd for my one and only bait.

I'd definitely go with a Heavy for the flipping I do, when I do it. Depends what you're flippin your bait into.

They now sell the Extreme rod for $64, or maybe it went back up, but for a while it was $64. The citica from when I last checked, they only had the 200 model for the combo. Not sure if you like the 200 or the 100 size, but that might be something else to consider. Also, you can get several different rods, so you can get a rod based on what you want it to be good for. Just a heads up.

I've got smaller hands, so the 100 fits PERFECT in my hands. Something to keep in mind.

Like one other guy said, your subject suggests one thing, and your actual post suggests another. Do you want an all purpose rod as in, you can throw crankbaits, plastics, jigs, spinnerbaits, and just about everything? Or do you want a all purpose crankbait rod, in which you can throw deep diving, shallow diving, jerkbaits, and all that? ESPECIALLY if you're using braid, you really want a moderate action rod.

Compared to that Fireline Crystal stuff, this stuff is INCREDIBLE. I couldn't STAND fireline.

I'm not a big braid guy, I've used power pro a few times and never really liked braid. I don't notice any difference in Power Pro vs Invisi-Braid from feeling both and having both on my desk right now. The one thing that bothered me was the noise it made going through the guides, but after 20-30 casts it stopped for the most part. I don't know about the heavier braid though, I only used the 10lb which is the 2lb diameter. So that's all I can speak about.

Not very new, and I have had little success the one place I've used it. Some guys have great success with it though.

I have used it with great results, but not in ultra clear water. In clear water, it's pretty darn visible as it's white not clear.

I've caught 20 fish in 08 above 3lbs so far, all on shaky head. It's about the only thing I've been fishing as of lately. Dobyns 702 ML - Has PLENTY of power to bring in big fish. I've pulled in a fired up 8lb trout, 10lb cat, and 7lb bass all in the past month and half. Don't let the Medium Light fool you. Shimano Stradic 2500 I've been experimenting with different lines. 6lb Pline Fluorocarbon, breaks a bit too easily, 6lb Mono breaks way too easily. 10lb INvisi braid is AWESOME but for ultra clear water, I think it's probably still too visible. Im' going to try 8lb flourocarbon next.

I have the 844C GLX and can't say enough good things about it.
