Large swim baits
The 6" Huddleston is a good bait to start with. As long as you have some trout eaters in your waters.

Anyone else...
#3 is a big thing for me too. I caught 1 5lb striper last month on a spinnerbait, and that was my first fish over 8inches on a spinnerbait. So now that's going to be a key thing I throw for some time!

Silver Thread???
Tried it once, and had not a single complaint about it. Haven't got around to ordering anymore. I used 12lb for Jigs, and had great sensitivity, never felt a single nick in the line, and little memory.

Incredilble deal at Academy....
Could we get a little how to for the fore grip you have on there. And are you using those BPS wraps for the handle? Or what?

Anyone else...
I can't wait to practice throwing t-rigged worms. 10" worms are going to be 75% of what I throw this spring, or at least that's what I'm planning for.

Rod for jerkbaits
I just got a St.Croix Premier crankbait rod for $100 shipped to my door. Great crank / jerkbait rod. I dont' throw cranks, I got it pretty much just for jerkbaits. I got the 6'6 Medium, and I love the 6'6, all my other rods are 7's, but it's so much easier to jerk the rod with a 6'6. I wish I had got the Medium heavy though so I could have a bit more backbone to throw some spinnerbaits and such.

Would it be worth the effort...
Jigs in deep water are always good.

Anyone else...
Yup, I've been tying my own jigs for a little while now, satisfying when you catch a nice fish on them.

Anyone else...
I'll be throwing some big baits as well, need to get more confidence in 'em. But , I really wish I could be satisfied throwing the same old stuff, I'd save a LOT of money. Now I'm sitting around thinking I need a new rod ! Why can't I ever be happy!?

Anyone else...
Going to throw all new baits to start this spring, or are you going to stick with the baits you threw last year, and know so well. The senko for me was killer in spring, and for the past few months, I have been sticking to jig fishing exclusively. I think that Mid February I'm going to start throwing all new baits that I didn't use much in 07. Spinnerbaits, Jerkbaits, 10" worms, and some beavers are going to be at the top of my list.

Sweet Beaver style baits?
T-Rig is the master of all baits. I was SHOCKED to see him even post a question about a single bait, I thought I was dreaming! I don't fish beavers much, but the ones you posted from ebay look an awful lot like the ones from ***, go check his out if you're in the market for knock offs. I just picked up some 5.2 Beavers, what size hook should I use, 5/0 ?

best pick for drop shoting?
Go buy some Roboworms 4" and 6" straight tail worms. They are amazingly soft, have the best movement out of any worm I've drop shotted so far, and they catch fish. Aarons magic is a killer color to start with.

2 Double D's
So how come you don't have the state record then? Oklahoma state record: 14 lbs 11.5 oz

My Fav. worms...gone
Just curious what size hook you use with the 10" Culprit, what type of rig you fish it with (crig, trig, how much weight, etc), and how you fish it? I've never fished a curly tail worm, but those 10" Culprits look like they'd do some work.

Tried the evolution jig?
The head is a great design. Some people say it could get in the way of the hook set, but I'm not sure about that. I do like the head. The skirt alone keeps me from buying the jigs. The skirt has too little strands, and is rubber band tied which keeps the skirt bunched in some areas and completely empty in others. The head is incredible, and a new design.

New PB
Catching anything this time of year you've got to be pretty happy and proud. But catching a new PB is always an amazing feeling. Congrats.

Porta-Bote???
I too was in your position, and looked into Porta botes heavily. I came to the conclusion, that for the price, a jon boat would be a much better bet. I know a few people that have, and have had porta botes, some like them, some don't. If you're just going to use it on a calm, low pressure pond or lake, I think it would be fine, but if you're fishing pressured water, with wake from other boats, wind, and using an outboard, I'd think twice.

The moment you've all been waiting for
I'm honored , I think. :-?

G-Loomis question
Roadwarrior convinced me to get the 844C GLX and I've never looked back. My FAVORITE rod by far. Can be used for just about anything, although I use it just for jigs.

South Florida Get Together 12/16/07
Did you say Lousy weather? That looks gorgeous. I live in California, and it's 46 degrees and freezing. I can't imagine end of december wearing shorts and a shirt.
