  1. As long as you have customers willing to shell out crazy amounts of money, this is only going to get worse. There's been several occasions where 1 pack has sold for $50-$60 . ONE PACK of 3 baits that tear after ONE fish.
  2. I'd go with the Medium unless you're planning on fishing your jigs in heavy cover. Mediums are a TON of fun for every day fishing, just not fishing in heavy cover. I tried to learn a BC with braid, and for me, I hated it. You're going to get backlash, for sure, and for me, It's easier to get backlash out from mono then braid. Not sure if other people have this same experience, but I just threw some 12lb XL on there just to practice, and I got good fast. Also, braid is much more expensive. If you back lash so bad that you have to cut your line , you just wasted a lot more money.
  3. 1. Trick worms 2. Super flukes 3. Black/Blue Jig 4. Brown/Purple jig 5. Wake Jr 6. Roboworms 7. Rat-L-Trap 8. Smithwick Rogue Jerkbaits 9. Lucky Craft jerkbaits 10. Basstrix Paddle Tail Tubes 11. Senko 12. Fat Ika 13. Cavitron Buzzbait
  4. No, I told you Not to mention, the frog rod looks different then the regular LTs, it's SICK. Nothing like a sick looking rod to attract more fish. ;D I know right! If anything, it'd just give me some added confidence in frog fishing.
  5. No, I told you Not to mention, the frog rod looks different then the regular LTs, it's SICK.
  6. I was thinking the same thing... Curious what company makes that rod.. My heavy is to 1 1/2oz and my MH are below 1oz.
  7. Thinking about getting a frog rod, and although I'm leaning towards the Powell frog rod, the Daiwa LT one looks SWEET and is $50 cheaper.
  8. Nice going man. Told you it was only a matter of time, and that there was some 4-5's in there. Go get that 5lb pond record.
  9. Haha. Now I see what you mean about being a not so nice guy! Just playin. I'm 5'11 and 145lbs. No hobbit here, just skin and bones.
  10. The huddleston is $35 dollars, catches bigger fish, and doesn't tear nearly as easily. These basstrix tear after one fish, yes you can use Mend-It, but still. I'm stupid, I should have put packs on ebay. Maybe i'll go get some more.
  11. Man, I thought you always are low on your estimates. You're high man! Just shy of 3lbs. I thought 3 1/2 when I first pulled'r out of the water. But my scale says no.
  12. For the guys who already know, don't say anything :
  13. There are several things many of us do to modify store bought jigs. One big thing I always do is cut the guard so it's flush with the point of the hook, maybe just a bit above the point. I cut about 15-20% of the weed guard off, and with the rest, I fan them out so they spread out covering almost an inch side to side. If you google it, or I think it may be on this site, there's a step by step visual of how it's done. Goodluck, fishing jigs are by far the most fun I've had fishing. They catch some NICE bass.
  14. A $2,000 bass boat is going to run you a LOT more then just the initial $2,000 you spend. I'd definitely rule that out. Here's the thing you have to remember, YOU HAVE A BOAT ! It might not be exactly what you want, but it's better to be mobile on the water then not. If your parents are paying for your school now, just keep saving up! Once you're out of college, then buy a boat. I'd say start with a jon boat though, no need to rush things. Get a nice jonboat, you can always convert it into a mini bass boat, and that should give you quite a long time of enjoyment. I'm the last person to be giving this advise, as I dont' follow it myself: Don't rush things! Some things shouldn't be rushed and even though it may take another or two, in the end you'll thank yourself.
  15. THROW JIGS! Jigs are very easy to throw from shore, in fact, I find it easier to fish a jig from shore then from a boat. Ikas, Senkos, Super flukes, Rip baits, drop shots, all work well too and produce good fish in fall. goodluck.
  16. Just tell her to be thankful you're not spending it on other women.
  17. That sure looked like a 7" Senko to me too, strange! Congrats on the fish man. Keep fishing the Sacramento river, there's plenty of fish in there! There's always the Delta and Clear Lake, but both are pretty tough from shore. Goodluck
  18. It really depends on what state. Here, I don't consider a lunker to be anything under 10lbs. 7's, 8's, 9's are nice quality fish, but they're not lunkers in my mind.
  19. They can be a bit slow on refunding you the money. I returned a rod, and it took 3 weeks for me to have the money back in my account. Don't worry you'll get your money back. and wow $1,000 a month at BPS that's a lot!
  20. The curado can be had for $165 + Free Shipping. If you don't mind paying the extra for the Chronarch MG I'd say go for it, it's a step up. Maybe not a huge step up, but it's lighter for sure! If you're money is a bit of a factor, the Curado 100D for $165 is incredible.
  21. Exactly, many people have the same experience you did. I'm in the stage right now where I'm debating if I like it or not. There's pros and cons to it, but really, it's not nearly as exciting it was the first time.
  22. Start by getting into a local bass club as a non-boater. This way you can see where you're at, and if you really like it as much as you think you would. Fishing is tons of fun, I think everyone here would agree. But I also think that if it becomes your only means on income, it can also become a high pressure very risky job. That MIGHT take some of the fun out of it once you're at that level, then again it might not. Just another thing to think about. Definitely start by joining a local club though, get out on the water and get on boat experience. Goodluck.
  23. Lmao, that really does look like a penguin.
  24. I use the MBR844C, but from the looks of it, he doesn't want to spend that much...
