SOL vs Fuego
Both are too much. I found a few NIB SOLs for $170ish. I cannot spend over $200 and would prefer to spend less, but still want quality. The SOL is too slow speed, the Fuego can't fish brackish, so now i'm back to square one. TD Advantage SuperTuned? Maybe if I can find a Zillion on Ebay? any other suggestions. This reel will need to hold a decent amount of 17lb test, something my Curado 100 cannot do, and the 200 is too big for my hands.

SOL vs Fuego
Didn't know the SOL was 5.8:1. This reel will be on a MBR844C GLX rod - specifically for jigs. I will be using it in brackish water and can't get away from that. My hands are pretty small, and fishing jigs I need to be able to palm the reel with ease. Problem with smaller reels, is the line cap.

symetre or president
Symetre vs President I'd take the president. BUT, if you can find a good deal on a Stradic, it's a nice step up for not much added money. Both are great reels, and you won't be disappointed either way.

SOL vs Fuego
Looking to get one or the other. Any reasons why ones better then the other. From what I hear, the Ergonomics of the SOL is a step better, but the Fuego has a better drag. Not sure if the sol is Magnesium but I know the Fuego is, and shouldn't be used in Salt. I wouldn't fish salt water, but the delta is "brackish" and that might worry me. Thanks!

I got Mend-It specifically for these baits, it's great! Congrats man.

My Tierra((PICS))
I can't comment on th e carrot stix, I haven't used one yet Looking at the specs, they don't seem to be all that technique specific. Maybe the parabolic Casting rod but the others look they will fill more than one niche (or they would on my boat anyway) below is my Tierra on a custom rod from Flechero. This rod is also used for saltwater (hence the reel size) This is the one reel that I got to use this year that would score 10's across the board, I couldn't even scratch it! (and believe me, it got used) Didn't realize they put out so many new rods. Last I heard, they were only selling the two, 1 spinning 1 casting, and weren't coming out with the others until 08. Mhmmm?

Shimano Cumara
Dobyns and Powell rods for $180 are a GREAT deal, very light, very sensitive. Haven't used the Cumara so I couldn't tell you otherwise.

My Tierra((PICS))
It depends what you're planning on using this set up for. The carrot stick is VERY VERY VERY technique specific. It's not a very versatile rod, but excels highly in what it's meant to.

My Tierra((PICS))
Couldn't have said it better myself!!! Don't skimp on the rod, you will regret it in the future....I promise. Rods to me are more important. I'll always spend more on a rod then a reel. If you can afford it gets a powell or dobyns, hold them both see which you like more. If you can't afford it, the gblanks rods are AWESOME rods. 3oz rods that are very sensitive.

My Tierra((PICS))
Goodluck finding a split grip rod for under $100. Gblanks -$120 - awesome rods - split grip - sensitive as hell Powell - $180 Dobyns - $180 3 great rods, for under $200. You got a nice reel, now get a nice rod, it deserves it!

Help me regain my intrest in fishing
I've been going through something similar. Not quite sure what it is, or why, but fishing is more frustrating then fun right now. I can't control the bait monkey, and yet I can't afford EVERYTHING I want, so that alone gets me sad and angry at the same time. Not to mention the fishing hasn't been too reat to keep me really into it. I've got several new rods in the past few months, and that always helps for a few weeks until the thrill of a new rod runs dry. I play video games in the winter, it helps me deal with winter, but I know right in spring, i'll be right back at them looking for that first DD. Goodluck man. Take your time, don't force yourself to fish, it will come back naturally.

Thinking about one last rod, suggestions?
The Dobyns rod is very sensitive. I would say it's no less sensitive then my GLX Loomis 844C rod which was twice the price. Well balanced, and feels great. It's a BIT limp but it is a ML but I still love it. Fun as hell to fish 2-3lb fish, but does have the power to pull in a big fish if needed. As for the XMG, The Cabelas website has the older model? Is that what you're saying? Which guides are better? The cabelas one also has the front grip on it , the one on the Lami site has just the exposed blank. mhmmm.... I have some rods with no front grip, although they might be a bit more sensitive they're also not as comfortable. I'm also leaning a bit toward the 704, it's a 1/4-5/8oz weight as opposed to 5/8- 1 1/2 oz. I'm going to fish weightless senkos and some with a small weight, and frogs, so the 704 would probably be a better bet.

Thinking about one last rod, suggestions?
I have a Calcutta 400B and a Crucial swimbait rod. I don't like throwing swimbaits all that much though, so for now, one is enough. I love throwing Jigs the most, Senkos, Shaky Head, super flukes, and all those so I'm still leaning towards a rod I can throw senkos on in cover and throw frogs too. That XMG should do the trick. I can always throw smaller swimbaits under 2oz with ease on my 844C or that XMG I would bet.

One last question about the Lamis. I've seen two different looking XMG50's Both have a SIMILAR handle, but one has the same handle with a front grip and one has no front grip at all. ...!? http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0037312120917a&type=product&cmCat=search-perf&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=Lamiglas+XMG&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=Lamiglas+XMG&noImage=0&rid=0180101070502&cmCat=perf&cm_ven=performics&cm_cat=Google_NonBrand&cm_pla=fish_fishrod_general&cm_ite=xmg%2050&_requestid=25665 http://www.lamiglas.com/prod_indiv.php?groupid=46 So confused right now.

Thinking about one last rod, suggestions?
I use the Extreme or Dobyns rod for drop shotting now when I go to the one place that I DS at. That XMG is incredible, and due to the fact that senkos are such a special bait, and work pretty much year round, I think the senko deserves a pretty rod like that. 90% sure that's what I'm getting, just wish I could find it local for $200!

Holding bass for photos - Good and bay way to doit
Ok guys, I'm sure this has been posted before, but with more and more pictures of guys holding fish with one hand and tilting the fish (Myself included), I need to ask.. Is this really bad for the fish? I just recently read somewhere that holding the fish with one hand and tilting the fish, and giving it no support can be very bad for the fish, and can keep it from being able to open its mouth to feed again. I even see the pros doing it too, and one would think they wouldn't do anything to hurt fish, but then again you never know. Is this at all true?

Thinking about one last rod, suggestions?
Haha. I just got the reel in September, no need for me to lose that much money, I figured I might as well keep it. I wanted to sell it to get a Citica 100DSV or Curado 100 but oh well.

DS Rod? I might be tired but I can't for the life of me figure out what DS means. Fill me in! The Lami looks nice, but a bit more then I wanted to pay. That handle looks SWEET, although I'm not sure how comfortable it would be to hold.

I just saw that and emailed him, thank you. I'm leaning toward the Carrot Stick and using it for cranks and just using the Gblanks rod for senkos and random stuff. But still want some suggestions.

Already done, just not on the list.

Thinking about one last rod, suggestions?
Decided to keep the Revo Sx and get a rod for it. Need suggestions though. Currently have: Gloomis 844C GLX / Shimano Curado 100D - Just for jigs Gblanks 6'10" MH / Shimano Scorpion 1001 - Been using this for Cranks / Spinnerbaits , although it's a fast tip, feels in between mod/fast. Dobyns 702ML / Shimano Stradic - Shaky head Extreme BPS 6'6" / Pflueger President - Super Flukes and occasional other weightless plastics. I was thinking about getting a frog rod, but wont' be fishing frogs until spring or maybe not even until summer. Could get a rod just for senkos. Could get a better crankbait/spinner bait rod (Carrot Stick) and put the Revo on the Gblanks rod and use that for senkos. Mhmmm...? Don't want to go over $200, and $150 is my magic number. Maybe a powell rod..?

Watching My Line
Let me guess you're a youngster; even with out looking at your profile I'd say mid to upper twenties? Yes quality sunglasses are extremely helpful but they will not fix eye problems that come with old age. I promise you fluorocarbon will not replace 40+ years experience so if you want to take my back seat while I throw Berkley Big Game in Mean Green, Electric Blue or Cajun Red Lightnin' come on down and get schooled. Get prescription sunglasses I'm only 20, and I would tend to agree with you as well. experience > line color, BUT in some situations I would say fluoro is the only way to go. In highly pressured waters, extremely clear water, or in waters where fish are in general spooked, line does make a BIG difference.

need advice on new reel purchase
I'd take a Shimano Curado over a Revo any day :

USACproshop
Glad to see you got it worked out. They're nice guys, and it's good to see what they're doing to keep the ebay guys from getting too many. You'll like them, they truly are great baits. You should have purchased "Mend-It" from them. GREAT Soft bait repair glue. I use it on my basstrix.
