  1. For the $200 price range, most guys like the Calcutta 400B or the Daiwa Luna 300. Both are great, some prefer the 400B, others prefer the Luna 300. I for one, have had both, and would take the Luna 300 any day over the 400B. Edit: Saw you said smaller swimbaits. Curado 300 is nice for the smaller swimbaits if you want the Low Profile reel.
  2. Depends what you're going to put it on
  3. I stuck a 12lb 6oz, 9-11, 8-14, and 8-13, all in March. along with tons of 6's. Just because people don't post all of them, or the fact that you might have to go a few pages back for previous posts, doesn't mean we don't catch them.
  4. Guys, Looking for Bass is right, they are all the same fish. Lol, LFB, you're a joke. He's been sticking fish like this regularly now for the past month or so. Nice going man, I think it's time for me to go to that lake now
  5. I'd say the chances of it being a catfish or carp, are much higher then it being a bass.
  6. Sounds like a great day! I particularly like that last picture.
  7. Definitely wouldn't call the Okuma rods better then a Loomis swimbait rod. I also have a feeling that he's upgrading from an Okuma to the Loomis rod, as the Okuma is what most swimbait guys start out with. Branuss, I'm sure TW will gladly pay shipping back. I've had nothing but great customer service from them.
  8. It's almost the only bait I've thrown for the past 2 weeks. Biggest was last week and only 6lbs 13oz. But they do catch some nice fish.
  9. Just don't leave a bruise and things are fine
  10. Not to disagree at all. Just curious as to how you know a tennis ball wasn't just floating in the water, and a bass attempted to eat it... Regardless of that, it sucks when tons of animals are dying in your body of water. In January I counted over 20 dead birds in my local water. That would truly suck if you have some teenage kids running around killing birds and fish just to be cool and have "Fun".
  11. Dang, everyones posting pics now! I'm still holding out to post a few more till later ;D
  12. That's just the 200. I'm assuming the 100's are all sold out.
  13. Cut a few of strands of the weed guard clean off. Then trip the tops of the rest to be flush with the hook or just a tad longer. Fan out the weed guard . Depending on the jig, trimming the skirt can also be good. I like it about a half inch to 3/4 of an inch past the hook for most of my jigs, some longer and sometimes shorter.
  14. If you're using the flipping stick for fishing weeds and heavy cover, DEFINITELY the Revo belongs on the flipping stick. That extra beefy drag won't slip while horsing in fish from cover. I don't know about the Crucial 7'11 flipping stick, as I've never held it, BUT the majority of flippin sticks I've held are noticeably tip so I'd also take into consideration which balances best. But then again, I like the 7:1 high speeds for jigs in heavy cover, and I throw frogs on my flipping stick as well. So that makes it a tough choice!
  15. I was thinking about getting a replica too, I got the weight, but didn't get to measure her >
  16. They work AWESOME in open water as well. You can throw a frog anywhere...
  17. The ones you tie yourself.
  18. If you're trying to save money, you can't beat the Okuma swimbait rods. Lot of Cali guys use them and they're only $100.
  19. I've been bass fishing for exactly a year now. I was lucky enough to stick my first DD last month, that went 12lbs 6oz. Came close the week before that with 9-11 and was FURIOUS.
  20. Catt, you'll be very pleased with the MF. I just threw one the other day for the first time, 15 minutes in, I stuck a little 6lber, but boy was it fun! Great baits, great action, and a good price. There's some videos on how to rig it on 316's website I believe if you're still not 100% clear. enjoy!
  21. STX BY FAR!! I have a High Speed 7:1 STX for my flippin, and it's all I could ask for and more. I like a 7:1 better for jigs, and this setup doubles as my frog rod, which is the biggest reason I picked the high speed. I've used the Castaic just days before I purchased my STX. The stx is smoother and fits in my hand WAY better, the 200 castaic is too bulky for my liking. also, if you're like me, flipping into HEAVY cover , the drag on the revo is just awesome. I had a fish take out my drag on my Curado a few weeks back, scared me half to death as the drag was all the way tightened down.
  22. I'm beginning to think less and less of the whole "Line Invisibility" junk. I've been using just plain braid, and haven't noticed a real difference at all. The one thing people should always do, is if you're fishing rocks, tie on a leader. As someone listed earlier, braid rips on rocks, much more so then other lines.
  23. David P replied to FR0G's topic in Fishing Reports
    Congrats man, you were due!
  24. Not only should you use 50-65lb braid for frogs, you should also get the 7'3 or 7'6 model, will move a lot more line on the hookset. also a good idea, get the high speed revo, 7:1, better for frogs and i prefer it for jigs as well.
  25. WHAT A TOAD! That thing could eat my DD! that thing is incredible, congrats !
