  1. CXX is very strong, but many people don't like it because it's soooo stiff. I've used it a few times, and 10lb is much too stiff for me. Try CXX but also try CX if you're looking into Pline. I use 15lb CX and have bent hooks from pulling them out of rocks. Both are very tough but CX isn't as stiff. Many will also say try Yo Zuri ultra Soft #12. Supposed to be very strong too, but I don't have experience with it (I just ordered some last week). Unless you're fishing amazingly clear water, line visibility shouldn't be too much of a concern, and neither CX or CXX stretch enough for it to be a concern what so ever. If you're set on Fluoro, Seagur Invizx is awesome stuff.
  2. First let me say thank you to Bobby and Megastrike for sending me a free Cavitron! I got it a few days ago, and today was my first chance to fish, but I was only able to fish from 2pm-5pm. Right when I got there I took out the Cavitron, and took a cast. Bad cast, so I just reeled it straight in. Second cast.. BAM hit it like a ton of bricks. This was the first hit I've ever got on a buzzbait, and I hooked right up. Man was it a rush. I only threw it a few more times as my reel was acting up. Who says you can't throw a topwater in the afternoon ;D
  3. It's going to be even tougher when the thing is in water, there's more resistance.
  4. If they were straight and made from soft plastic, they'd look good. But sounds like they're stuck in that one position.
  5. The citica will do just fine, your rod on the other hand... :
  6. Pj lures has a great football headed jig, with a great hook, and comes in tons of colors. I also like Skinny Bear jigs as well. Fav Trailer: Uncle Josh's Phantom Craw. (Pork) As for rods, I love a MH rod with a stiff fast tip. Never had a problem with the medium heavy. I now use a 6'10 MH which I got with the soul reason of fishing jigs.
  7. I have a 2 piece tourny special. It's pretty flimsy, but until I got some more expensive rods, I thought it was a great rod. I still use it for Crankbaits/Jerkbaits/Grubs and love catching a nice fish on it. For $30 , they're worth it.
  8. If you want Pline, go to Pline CX or Pline CXX, fluoroclear is GARBAGE. Fluoroclear snaps like a twig, regularly, just in the middle from small abrasions. Pline CX is good, CXX is a bit too stiff for me. Seguar Invizx is good if you want Fluorocarbon.
  9. Congrats once again man. Seems like this summer has been good to you.
  10. Great fish man, looks 3 1/2 or 4 pounds man. Congrats, I wish I could catch a d**n bass on a spinner bait!
  11. As many people here like to say, Hook sets are free. If you're not sure if it's structure or a possible fish, set the hook. The more you do it, the more you will be able to differentiate between a bite and structure. Try Senkos (Gary Yamamoto) Wacky rigged. There some of the easiest, yet effective baits there are. They're a great way to start catching fish. just keep at it man and goodluck.
  12. I've seen them work, I've never used them, but I fish with a guy who does. Like all swimbaits, dont' expect 20 strikes in an hour. But they do work.
  13. Try pork trailers too.
  14. If you catch fish that you do not release what do you do with them? Just release all fish, and you won't have a problem.
  15. Just got some, I've seen some people rig them with a 4/0 or 5/0 gammy ewg with the weights on the bottom of the hook. Can they be rigged weightless or do they spiral or not swim straight? I wanted to rig them on a 5/0 hook , but before doing so and possibly ruining one bait I thought I'd ask. thanks.
  16. Those things look great. Got me wanting to try them now!
  17. Bet you had a MONSTER bass on!
  18. Like I said, I'm just screwing with you. It think it is just funny because the stereotypical bass fisherman has a few pounds to lose. Enjoy it while you have it. I'm in the same boat as RocknFish, I'm 19, just hair shy under 6ft, and weigh 140. For about 3 years I was stuck weighing 125-130. No matter what I eat, no matter if I drink weight gainer, or whatever, just can't get past the 145 mark. I'm sure that will change, but I'll enjoy it for now.
  19. Head looks all of 7lbs, but body is much smaller, and looks more like 6ish. I'd say for sure between 6-7. Congrats man!
  20. First "swimbait" I caught a fish on.
  21. My local store carries tons of them, until seeing what they come packaged in, I didn't realize it was them! I'm going tuesday to go pick up a few packs. I'm gonna get the 6" , any suggestions on colors, and how to rig them?
  22. I can't believe so many people have said the Symetre. I love my Stradic, by far my favorite. Do people not have Stradics, or are people seriously picking a Symetre over the Stradic?
  23. Yah, I can't believe they're all out of stock everywhere. Some guy was using them yesterday when I was fishing for a few hours. He said he had one bump and that was it. He fished it for about 2 hours and then gave up. They look good though.
  24. Nice fish man, I still haven't managed a fish over 10in on a drop shot! Can't keep the little ones off it. Congrats man
  25. Seems like you're lovin that new rod! Congrats!
