  1. Senkos have been my go-to bait for several years now. The best Senko advice I ever got was "If you think you are going too slow...slow down."
  2. I went through several brands of spincasting reels for my grandson and friends who don't fish much and finally settled on the Abumatic. I now have three of them and they have been flawless. Get an Abumatic combo.
  3. I use both PowerPro and Spiderwire Stealth. I always use the Palomar knot and have never had a knot problem at all.
  4. I use spinning gear all the time for Senkos. MH rod, Symetre reel, 20# PowerPro, 3/0 EWG hook.
  5. The Daiwa Regal-XiA is a great spinning reel for $49.95.
  6. I saw them for the first time last week at my local Gander Mountain store. The front of the flippin' reel reminds me of a 1951 Studebaker.
  7. Agreed completely. It took me a while to get used to stopping the line with my index finger, but now it is a habit, and I never have line twist issues.
  8. Well this settles it for me. I'll pick up a 5.2:1 this spring for deep cranking.
  9. I have two GM Pro Select rods and have been very happy with them. As mentioned earlier I have also heard that the blanks come from varying sources.
  10. Nashontheriver - I live in Anderson. What works best for you on the Mighty White River?
  11. Believe it or not the Strike King Rocket Shad has been my most effective spinnerbait.
  12. I have used a similar set up for 5" Senkos with no problem. However, I now use MH spinning gear for Senkos with 20# Power Pro braid. The hooksets are lots better with the braid. I use a 3/0 Ewg Gamakatsu hook with either set up. My favorite colors are watermelon w/black and red flake, smoke pearl blue, black and junebug (purple with emerald flake).
  13. Thanks for the great information and all the details! Keep it coming.
  14. How about using a 7' MH crankbait rod??
  15. 1) 5" Senko, watermelon with black and red flake; 2) Bomber Square A, Oxbow Bream color scheme; 3) Sweet Beaver, watermelon; 4) 1/2 oz Rat-L-Trap, chrome w/blue back; 5) 1/2 oz Jitterbug, black.
  16. I once met Pete Maina at a seminar and asked him who built his BPS muskie reels. His reply was that he had no idea and that all reels are made by "some factory in China." This was about 4-5 years ago, so you can add Korean factories to the mix these days.
  17. Weightless on a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG hook.
  18. Gammy EWG. 3/0 for 5" Senkos, 4/0 and 5/0 for larger plastics.
  19. I have read conflicting opinions regarding the best rod/reel/line setup for fishing spinnerbaits. Your thoughts, preferences and opinions, please. One more thing: when and where are spinnerbaits the best choice?
  20. Cheating? No. Just one of the ways to catch fish. I only use artificials for bass, but I use redworms and bee moths (wax worms to many of you non-Hoosiers) when I am panfishing with ultralight gear.
  21. SPAZ - Try the Bomber Square A. It runs a little bit deeper than the 1 Minus.
  22. I use two, both C-4's. One is a 5600 on a 7'MH rod for swimbaits, frogs and heavy jigs, and the other is a 6600 on my MH 7.5' muskie rod.
