  1. I grew up fishing them for bluegills, but stopped using them for years. Mepps Muskie Killers and Giant Killers are great for the toothy creatures. And this season I am going to throw some mid-sized Mepps for bass.
  2. Try Shadyside Lake at Shadyside Park in Anderson. Good bank fishing on the lake and along Killbuck Creek (which feeds the lake) where it flows into White River. You can also fish the banks of the river in the same general area. It is only about 30 minutes from the northeast side of Indianapolis.
  3. Here's the link: http://www.indianafishingexpo.com/preview_001.htm.
  4. 1) Senko, watermelon with red and black flake; 2) Bomber Square A in Oxbow Bream.
  5. No one has mentioned the Mann's Hardnose Swimshad. They are similar to the Hollow Belly and Money Minnow, but are about 25% cheaper. Anybody have experience with the Hardnose Swimshad?
  6. Commercial-Investment Property real estate broker and partner in three real estate offices in Anderson, Indianapolis and Muncie, Indiana.
  7. I love using my black Jitterbug as the sun goes down.
  8. An in-line spinner on a bamboo pole with no reel. Walked along the seawall at my parents old lake place and caught tons of bluegill, sunfish and what we called striped bass (I found out much later that they were actually white bass).
  9. Very helpful video. My left handed cast will be up and running by April. I like the crankbait video idea!
  10. For about $60 the Shimano Corvalus 400 would probably be your best option. The Abu C3 6500 would be a good choice, but it is a bit more expensive.
  11. Junebug (purple w/emerald flake) Senkos have been one of my standard colors for years. The lakes I fish are clear and I use them in all conditions. The last few years I have used watermelon with red flake more than the Junebug.
  12. I go almost every year and spend all my time in "Tackletown." Lots of free seminars and it is fun to visit with the vendors. Info at www.indianapolisboatsportandtravelshow.com.
  13. Cable vs. kite string... :-? LOL. End of debate. I will stay with XL for cranks. Although I am going to try 12# BPS XPS Fluoro this summer for deep crankin'.
  14. How does Big Game compare to XL regarding castability?
  15. I have three Symetre reels: a 1000 on a 5 1/2' ultra light; a 2500 on a 6 1/2' medium; and a 4000 on a 6 1/2' medium heavy rod (but I should have bought a 7'er). I would suggest you go with the 2500 for that rod.
  16. Just pointing out that, there's really no limits on what a person can market. Curious, how do Know all profits went to charity.? If you're not aware of Paul Newmans history of giving to charitable causes I suggest you look it up. Mr. Newman has a long history of selfless giving that goes beyond his salad dressing, popcorn or any of the other products that bore his name. It has been common knowledge for 20 years that his food company profits went to charity. There were a number of news stories documenting the charitable donations.
  17. I'm going to try 12# fluorocarbon line for deep cranks this year. What knot do you recommend?
  18. The press release said he will be fishing both ABU rods and reels. By the way, the "reel wars" discussions here are a hoot. Everybody has their favorites, but most folks understand much of the back and forth is tongue in cheek.
  19. My typical rig has a rod and reel that are in about the same price range. Wasn't really the plan...it just worked out that way.
  20. I have been using a Berkley Spooling Station for 3 or 4 years now and it is very easy to use. Just have the spool mounted so that the line is coming over the top and it will go on the right way (when you mount the reels the spinning reel is upside down and the baitcaster is right side up).
  21. They send one to my house and one to the office. Helps me get through bouts of cabin fever. I didn't notice any difference in the content.
  22. Gamakatsu is the hook I use the most, but also have some Eagle Claw and Mustad hooks.
  23. Have had success with both Roostertails and Mepps, but gravitated to Mepps spinners because of their quality. Probably have 40 or so Mepps lures ranging from ultra lite to Musky Killers.
