  1. This is a continuous action centrifugal brake, no setting to disable the blocks. Best centrifugal brake I ever used, the most similar to a magnetic linear one. Polish the braking trail to get even better casting performance.
  2. I'm not impressed. Standard transverse cam system, without extra bearing or bar support. I can get more quality on the cheaper Piscifun Carbon Series. Thank god I'm not the only one surprised about that.
  3. Although I'm a staunch ''don't buy the brand', buy quality'' guy, your pictures can't tell **** about both reels quality. We see just aesthetics, drag clicker and spool support. For your conclusions, you must had see main gear, pinion gear, oscilation system, drag washers, sealing. If you are from Krypton, surely you saw all these with your x-ray vision. If not, you have a lot of conclusions without factual suppport.
  4. Daiwa just chose decent reels from doyo, to be sold with its brand. Using Doyo oem reels were somewhat acceptable, but cheap ones? Really?
  5. Completely ironic... They made gear for daiwa and shimano and now sells rebranded, yet superbly built, banax reels.
  6. All Doyo reels are proprietary. And rebraded to its OEM clients, like Lews, Abu Garcia, Daiwa... I'm suprising over how willingly is Daiwa to put its brand in very cheap stuff like the PR100 (Weihai Fishing made). Edit: I was astonished when discovered Okuma is buying and reselling OEM stuff from Banax, a.k.a the Okuma Komodo series.
  7. I agree. Doyo, who makes Lews reels, is a step above Shimano.
  8. Cost-wise: Daiwa Tatula or CT 100 Top-notch: Alphas CT SV
  9. I had the same reel. I adjusted the spool tension just one time (daiwa zero adjust way) and everything else was controlled by the braking dial. It's a underbraked lure, almost like it's a on/off situation. Only used maximum and the two steps under it. Backlashes will always happen. You need to adjust the reel and casting correctly. Always use the wrist movement for casting.
  10. What you expected over heavy duty reels? Actually there is a Komodo weighting aound 180g. The Hakai, Citrix, lighter komodos. But Okuma ''bass reels'' portfolio is pretty lacking.
  11. I don't get Komodo having them being made by Banax, since it have a full industrial plant in Taiwan. Indeed, a superb reel. I have a Lexa 400HD, just because coudn't find a lefty SS Komodo.
  12. Okuma indeed has some superb reels, like the Citrix and Komodo series, but they are made by Banax.
  13. Set it using the zero-adjust manner, popularized by daiwa. Put the tension up to cease the spool sideplay, go back a little, to allow a minimal one. Forget about spool tension and ajust everything using the brake dial.
  14. Check the spool inductor cup spring.
  15. The Zillion series, even more so the older ones, Tatula Type R, Tatula CT SV, smaller Lexas...
  16. The best compromise between traction and abrasion resistance. 6 strands, maybe?
  17. Daiwa Emeraldas or Shimano Stradic.
  18. If you fish on brackish and saltwater, detritus will accumulate easily in both ends of the worm shaft. And the bushing will allow it to wear the shaft ends, even more so in cheaper ones. But I agree, decent bushing can mitigate or avoid this problem. But seems like decent bushes are pricier than cheap bearings... Bushing allow to detritus get stuck between them and the shaft, in a way bearings don't do it.
  19. The same happens in worm gear bushing. The bushes allow detritus to accumulate and wear the worm shaft ends. With bearings, they are sacrificed, but keep wear off the shaft.
  20. The bearings in handles make a solid difference. The ones with bushing suffer from wear by accumulated detritus, if the knob shaft is made of duralumin. Brass-shafted knobs tolerate bushing way better than duralumin ones. So, if you have duralumin knob shafts, bearings are a must-have. Several companies don't do that, since using bushing-duralumin shafts is cheaper.
  21. The Stellla actually is departing from the JDM traditional quality for sometime.
  22. I can't use spinning reels anymore. The lesser control and precision is almost unbearable over UL/BFS presentations. For vertical fishing and saltwater, maybe I can use them again.
  23. I never ever had digging problems with baitcasters. Heavier braid absorbs more water, the increase in weight, decrease casting distance.
