Go to Underspin?
Smaller baits like 3.8 and under I use the cool baits and for larger I use a standard jig head with a Z man spinner that just sticks into the soft bait…. On the larger baits like 4.8 and 5.8 keitechs I super glue the bait to the head so very rarely lose a spinner.

Cold weather gear
I will try one....thank you.

Cold weather gear
I'm getting softer as I get older.... lol. I'm good on just about everything except a face covering.... I've tried various buffs and balaclavas but can't seem to find one that A, keeps my face warm and protection from being wind burnt and B..... Doesn't fog up my glasses. I usually end up pulling it down below my nose to stop the fogging and end up with a crispy, burnt nose at the end of the day. What are you guys using? Thanks.

Closest dobyns rod to the Shimano 6'10" med action
I've had the expride and a couple of the Dobyns mentioned all had a Shimano aldabarren reel on them.... none of them felt as good as my Kistler Argon 6'10 m fast.... it's the older model built on the North Fork blank..... I think it's the balance and the handle is just a hair shorter but I love it..... Kistlers greatest mistake was doing away with the North Fork blanks.... I also have a 7'3" MH fast and a 7'3" H fast that are may favorite jig rods.

Nrx vs. expride spinning drop shot
Looking for a new drop shot/ Ned rod. I currently have a Kistler helium 7' ml but it feels butt heavy to me with a Shimano Stradic 2500. I know the NRX is a gold standard in spinning set ups but I'm also really interested in the Shimano expride 7'2" ml. I know they are two different price points....is the NRX really that much better?

You make the argument that pros need to be able to promote their sponsors but your faq's or "rules" seem to contradict that if they are not sponsors of this site? Thanks

The first time a "pro" posts about some product he uses that isn't a sponsor and gets his post removed he would probably just say the hell with it.

Lost a Icon today
I was surprised too Tom... I know a few guys are on tour or out of state but there are ALOT of guys within 100 miles that don't have much of an excuse.... I never knew the man personally .... friends of friends, etc and I considered going but with my health issues it just wasn't possible. Sad for his family.

I need to add a new bait or technique to my limited repertoire
Whopper Plopper size 90 in bone color could be really good in the mornings this time of year on a pond.

Tatula vs stradic
Ford vs. Chevy? I've always been a Shimano guy... Stradics have always served me well but I wouldn't not use a Diawa... I believe they make a great product as well

Ned rig snags - am I doing something wrong?
I wouldn't do that to an ugly stik ??♂️

If You Could Go Back
Health... I wish I took my health more seriously when I was younger. I am now 43 with half a pancreas and digestion/malabsorption problems likely for the rest of my days. All due to chronic hereditary high triglycerides .... I shrugged it off from 20-40.... should have took the pills and eaten better.

Keeper hand pour worms
Anybody use these.... I bought a couple packs.... don't remember what I payed for them but it was a a local small shop so probably overpriced. They seem extremely soft.... super nice colors, but I doubt they will hold up to many fish. Is this common with all hand pours? Roboworm is my main worm other than some random packs bought here and there over the years. Is it worth it or save them for really tuff situations?

What do you do best?
I'm just trying to be a good dad..… my 11 year old son is my tournament team partner and goes on EVERY trip..... He loves it so I'm trying to get him as much experience as I can before highschool starts.... right now he wants to be a "pro" fisherman and get a college scholarship for fishing. im not great at anything but I'm trying to get him on many different bodies of water and trying to give him a good foundation in the basics.

Bassmaster Elite at Lake Oahe
That lake is like 130 miles long and the top ten are fishing within 50 feet of each other ???

Bass Tournaments - Profitable?
It's gonna line up perfect... my son is fishing junior tournaments and will start high school next year with a really good high school team.... we are hoping he can get a college scholarship..... either way... I retire in about 7 years and if he wants, I'm going to take him on a full tour all over the United States to fish amateur or opens.... I won't lie and say it wasn't MY dream but right now he seems like he wants to do the same.....if so I will give him a year of ZERO financial stress to make a go of it.

Swim-bait on flipping rod vs. flipping on a swim-bait rod
Either tie knots or buy more rods.... I could probably flip on a Swimbait rod but not the other way around.... those big baits and trebles need a more moderate tip.

Well that was different
One of the lakes I fish here has a ton of bats.... at night they attack the line where it enters the water (jig fishing).... drives me nuts.... feels like strikes.
-
The CA delta was stingy yesterday.
Man, I live here and the Delta is tuff.... it's one of those fisheries that you have to fish almost daily to stay on em. 90% of the time I head east to the Motherlode.... deep clear reservoirs are much more to my liking. Good luck .

Going west to the frontier
Sounds like a good trip.... if I would have seen this post earlier I would have voted for a guided sturgeon trip.... they catch monsters up there.

C-Rig and Football Jigs
I don't know much about the Carolina rig... I don't use it much but on the footballs...... I bought 3-4 different kinds of tungsten footballs thinking I might get a little more sensitivity .... this has all been in chunk rock and I really can't tell a difference except price.... save your money. These were all fished on a Kistler Z Bone and a Loomis NXS so can't blame the rods. Ymmv.

Top Water Recommendations in Shad Oriented Reservoir ?
I like a Rico and I fish it kind of fast .... Rick Clunn has a video that shows his technique well.... it's not what you think and it works good on spots.... color doesn't seem to matter for me.... it's the disturbance/action.
-
Can I take the shine off?
If you know someone who reloads ammo, you could throw it in the tumbler with the walnut shell media.
-
what is your drop-shot worm of choice?
On our threadfin shad reservoirs I really like a zoom TINY fluke in Smokin Shad. Everywhere else I will usually go to a 4.5 or 6" roboworm in Aaron's magic or a 4" senko in green weenie. Also.... certain times a 5" zoom lizard will get hammered too.

Your worst fishing habit
Mine is reminding myself that I am NOT a pro.... fishing is only for MY enjoyment so stop forcing myself to learn a technique that I think I NEED to learn but don't want to..... stop forcing myself to fish in crappy weather if I'm not feeling it.... reminding myself that it is supposed to be fun and ZERO pressure.... it's OK if the bite sux and I want to go home and do something else. For me, there are no rules except to make myself happy.
