Hat keepers.
How many times have you lost a hat on a high speed run to your next, "honey hole"? I can tell you that I have lost my hat in the past. I have created a new device that keeps your hat, connected to your shirt, at all times! I am just curious if there is a necessity for it, other than my own personal use? It connects to your shirt collar, pocket, wherever, and keeps your hat from flying off. And no, it doesn't have alligator clips, but it does have clips, which are less damaging to materials on your hat, or shirt, with the same, if not better holding power.

Looking for info on making plastics
You would be better off buying a small container of plastic from a fishing retailer. Mostly due to the fact that there are less fumes in it, it is almost odorless. Then some colors you prefer to play around with. You can even add flakes, and pearlescent colors, to produce desired colors. My brother in law does it for an on the side business, and it's not too overly expensive to buy everything you need. Here is a list of what he uses: pyrex container (don't use anchor, or other brands, as they could explode with heating multiple times) He buys his plastic liquid from an online retailer (name eludes me right now) molds (your choice) he pours worms mostly. He melts his plastic initially in a microwave, then transfers it to a small lee production pot (which keeps the temperature pretty consistent until he is ready to pour it.) And his colors (which he buys from the same online retailer as plastics) I think so far, he has spent 200 bucks, including the 10 gallons of plastics he has bought thus far, that includes everything except the lee pot, that he got from a friend. Not too bad. So it can be done cheaply, but it takes some practice, and knowledge about how to do it... A lot of reading happened when he started! Have fun, and work with it!

Trying to find the color chart for margarita mut.
I love margarita mutilator right now. This time of the season is great for it, on clearlake, but I can't seem to find the color mixing pattern for personal pouring. I want to pour this asap, as I am just getting into the soft plastic pouring, myself. I think it would be fun to try... I have gotten single colors down. Anyone know how to mix the dyes to get the achieved pattern?

Maybe I'll give turtle soup a try (rant)
Now that is a man who backs his lures! Straight up the best warranty I have seen... lol I know how ya feel bro, just lost my lucky rapala DT10 to a fallen tree. I was like 8 feet from it, but it was jammed into that tree so deep, that I had to break it off... Friggin' underwater structures... Without them, this would be a turtle forum, and not a bass forum! haha

Guess the weight
Not to be a jerk, but I just caught a 6lber, and it was quite a bit bigger. I would think about 5lbs... Maybe 4... It's pretty hard to tell...

Tournaments on Clear Lake, Ca.?
Does anyone have some kind of website showing the current list of tournaments to be held on Clear Lake, this up and coming season? I have searched everywhere I can think of, and have come up empty handed... Thanks guys.

Ultralight
I'm using a Berkley cherry rod, and a Shakespeare 200A reel. Cost like 40 bucks, easy. The rod is a 5'6" rod, and it does the job very well. Caught my 4.6lb bass on it, no problem! Great customer service for both, also!

HELP ME IDENTIFY FISH (another weird hybrid pic)
It's just a regular old bluegill! I caught tons of them... That looked just like that. It's a female, if you look at the belly, it is obviously pregnant. They are still spawning on Clear Lake, so we have seen so many of them, that it's not funny. Different colors, different sizes. Some with square bellies, some with rounder bellies, all the same fish though.

Removing epoxy from grip area... Updated!
Thanks! I appreciate all the comments and suggestions I get. I want to add something more to the open area in between the split area, but not sure what to do with it...

Removing epoxy from grip area... Updated!
Has anyone, or does anyone, know of a tutorial on how to marbleize epoxy? I would assume it's just as easy as using dyes? I plan on doing a pink, white, and gray marble effect on my wife's ugly stick..., after I put cork split grips, and such... lol Thanks for any info!

Time to learn.....
Pretty lucky if you only got a couple backlashes your first time messing with it! lol I have had so many, even after getting the reel down pat, that it discourages me a little! lol I pull it out though, and try again. I have only been using the bait casting reels for about a year, or so, but it's not hard to figure out, just takes a little more coordination, and patience!

newest member of the carrot stix posse
These rods seem so innovative! They actually take fibers from carrots, and fuse them into the fiber itself, which gives it, it's color! That is amazing, and really looks great! I am a fan of bright poles, so that is really what has me hooked into the whole carrot stix craze! I want one, maybe 3-4 of them! lol

Removing epoxy from grip area... Updated!
Yeah. I went searching again, after someone else told me that it wasn't Flor grade, and found out that it was in fact SRC05, or something. Either way, there isn't as much pitting, as it looks. There are lines that look like they might be deep crevice, but they really aren't. These things are pretty clean, as far as I can tell, but I am no expert with cork. I just go by what some people tell me. Of course, I should stop listening to people whom don't know what they are talking about, right? lol That's why I love this forum! Great knowledge base, and a lot of people who know there stuff. Thanks for the help guys! I have the rod bug now, and I think it is dwelling in my brain, now!

baitcasting reel
Hell yeah there is! If you want to wrench out a big old hog, from weeds, or around structure, such as; trees, docks, etc, you want a bait caster. Do not get me wrong, I love my spinning tackle for worms and lighter baits/line, etc... You always want to be prepared for any condition, and having the right equipment will get you there!

Here are the pictures, I will let them do the talking. Also, my first attempt, not too bad, eh?

Yo Zuri Ultrasoft....you've let me down
yo zuri is pretty cheap line or good price :-? I've noticed from a few of your post you tend to be frugal? It's not typically that cheap, when you think about it, versus a spool of something else, almost 2 times the size... I don't buy cheap line, but I don't spend a ton on it... I spend what I can afford, at a given time. I plan to buy some kind of braid in the future, near future, but I don't plan to spend 30+ bucks on it... You know?

How's this for FUGLY?
The only way you might lose that thing, is if you dropped it in fire orange shag carpet, that is, like 5" long! lol It's a cool thing to see people do such crazy paint jobs on their equipment! If you like it that way, then use it! lol

Yo Zuri Ultrasoft....you've let me down
I really don't like Yo zuri line, at all. It's not worth the cash, when you take into consideration that you can spend less cash, and get the same d**n quality, if not better, than the results you are having... That's too bad...

Removing epoxy from grip area... Updated!
Yeah, might not be flor, but it's older stuff from way back in the day, at least I would assume. It looks clean, and clear of any pitting. I will get pics of it shortly. Just finished it. It actually came out great! As far as the heating process, the blow dryer did nothing. Had it like 2-3 mm from the thing, and nothing! Did that for about 15 minutes. Got bored, and decided to just get out the mini blow torch and just tickle it with a flame until it heated up and changed the molecular structure. It worked great, and then scraped a razor blade across the whole surface, and it cleaned up easily, and nicely. And for the cork, I found some hole filler cork, which basically slide into the larger diameter hole, and makes it smaller one. Looks pretty nice! I can't wait to get this thing in the water! Just by looking at it, you would think it was a little better rod, then it actually is... It's just an old intrepid IM-7 by Shakespeare. It was free! I love the number, free!

Really tight drag on BPS reel
I wouldn't worry about it, either way. Seems to be a common thing, and people just deal. Why would you want to have a low drag setting, when hooking a fish anyhow? lol I never worry about it, and if you watch the pros, they never adjust their's either! Especially not during play, so it's pointless. My drag, though, on my bionic plus, is perfect. I think it just depends on the model of reel, and the craftsmanship. First time I heard this about any BPS reel, though...

How's this for FUGLY?
Not ugly, really. It's more of an eccentric collection of color, to attract attention, rather than fish. Individualism comes to mind. I personally am not a fan of any camo on my fishing equipment, but then again, I am a simplistic, red kind of guy! Red, black, and simple yellows are easier for my eyes to look at. Why have such a fancy color, when all you are going to do, is look at the finish, rather than pay attention to the line? But again, it's all in personal preference. It looks like it was finished well.

Removing epoxy from grip area... Updated!
I will definitely try the blow dryer trick, today. I hope that works, as I am beyond ideas. Tried pretty much scraping it off with a razor blade, and got nowhere fast! lol Just short of getting a new blank! I might end up doing that anyhow... Don't get me wrong, great pole, just too much work, I think!

Removing epoxy from grip area... Updated!
I have been working and working on my 7' shakespeare IM-7, but I cannot get the epoxy off, where the handle was. It was attacked last winter, by a group of mice, or maybe a rat, and they destroyed the cork. I am therefore in need of epoxy removal, without destroying the finish too much. Any ideas on what I should do? I also made a really nice set of new handles, but they are much larger on the I.D., than the pole... Guess I am back to the drawing board! lol Trying to turn it into a nice split grip, with custom cork handles. Luckily the cork is pretty easy to get a hold of, or I would be hurting! It's free! lol and it's FLOR grade! I am such a lucky bum! haha
