So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Caught out of thick grass in a 16ft AI boat with no electronics according to comments, the first part about grass is pretty obvious. Be nice to see multiple big fish lakes start popping off. I can't imagine the zoo it's been at OH Ivie, I watched a podcast last night on Casitas in the heyday, the famous rock pile would have boat to boat for a hundred yards. People would buy their ticket and wait in lines to launch, then wait in lines to fish spots on the lake. I couldn't do that, sounds like a nightmare. These type of fish attract people from across the country and world. edit: So on Feb, 25th a 11 and 14 were caught with who knows what else was caught and not submitted into the TB Lunker program.....for the locals that's what I'd call a huge data point. I'd be trying to figure out what was happening that day weather/moon wise.

Bobby Lane and Ish back to the Opens tomorrow at Eufaula.
Both are known as big Bass catchers, and I'm especially interested to see Milliken. The pressure in the Elites has to be crazy. Both of those guys have nice fall back sources of income.

Which bass would you choose and why?
That first post thing always nails it.....that's the most laugh emotes I've seen a post get ?

Pond Observations
Right on, I think people assume ponds are easy, basically the exact opposite of reality. Somebody would have already grown the next WR LGM if it were easy.

I got one not too far away, but it's mainly only got stocked trout ?

Which bass would you choose and why?
Thread proves I guess why it's such a burden to catch a WR. People will always think you did it wrong, got lucky, fish was fake, etc.

So what's the record worth then? $1

Which bass would you choose and why?
I can't say I ever heard another angler demean or discredit his record. I've heard many people including myself say that it was likely broken a time or two since then. George Perry is still the king in my book. Maybe I'm the only one that believes in fairy tales ?

Pond Observations
That water is beautiful, are you doing any fertilization of it? All my reading says LGMs prefer the northern most portion of a lake with coves and bays facing south in terms of where to look for Spawning fish. Then I hear one should try to find harder bottom areas within those areas, gravel, clay, etc. VS. muck or mud. Sounds like your fish are getting ready to spawn.

Wasn't there a Million dollar bounty on the next WR in the 90s. Only a fool wouldn't be able to capitalize on catching the most famous fish in history

That's fantastic Bob, love that awesome pond of yours. I would have loved to seen video of operation Feed a Bass ? This is the quiet before the storm of Katie being back on the water ?

Bingo, the LGM WR is worth millions and millions of dollars. As long as I could release her, I'd be morally okay with getting rich off a fish. None of the other fish sadly are worth the money a LGM would be worth. The Spot wouldn't even make news outside fishing circles. The recent 17lb fish from OH Ivie made national headlines and it was only 17lbs. You'd be the most famous Bass fisherman in history as well, your name would be cemented into Bass fishing history. Boys would be talking about your fish long after your gone. A 27lb LGM makes one immortal in some ways.

Thank you Katie for such thoughtful, and wise words! You're correct as always too. I've always said fishing is 100% relative in just about every way imaginable, and in this regard it's relative to the last big fish or breakthrough I had. It's honestly like Capt. Ahab, I know it's madness, I know it's grown into something beyond "Bass fishing".....but she invades seemingly all my thoughts, the bigger fish I catch towards her, the more obsession takes the wheel. At 30,000ft, I'm so appreciative of just being on the water, but on the actual lake, I'm like a junkie searching for that high no amount of money can buy. I talked to the angler whom I thought had the recent lake record at 10.6 today, and he's positive another guy got a 12lb+ a year or two ago, seen the pics just didn't know the weight for sure. These are just the fish I know about, sure a few other DDs have been caught. Fishing is crazy, and you never what you might catch tomorrow, so that's why I'll be going tomorrow ?

What are you the National Audubon Society ? Seriously, many thanks. Small stuff is hard to notice on the lake, but I like to know everything bigger on it. From today....Deer can most certainly outswim me, they can motor pretty well, and pretty far.

Caught about 15....mix of Spots and LGMs....still not a fish over 2.5lbs, and at this point I'm convinced the Spawn is happening. Another angler I was chatting with spotted a bed and a buck Bass. Just sucks, I can't sniff a bigger fish. Trying to figure out if I should just keep fishing, or take a few weeks off. I think my next best shot at the white whale is at night this summer. I feel happy that I was able to get a fish close to my goal, but very frustrated that my opportunity at least using the "cheat code" has passed me by. A huge mistake I made was being enamored to much with offshore fish targeting offshore swaths of bait, like a kid I learned a new trick and held on to it too long. I should have been focusing more for isolated true trophy worthy fish moving up in 5-10ft of water on cover on points leading to and from the main bodies. This takes a level of discipline I simply didn't have this early on my journey back into Bassin. For you guys fishing in low 50 degree water right now, fish it hard it's fleeting ? This is what the end of big Bass season for me looks like, another reason to hate pollen

LOL.....you need serious help ? You got a random Burrito just chilling and I spent an hour last night unable to pull the trigger on it at TW Straight tackle kingpen status ?

Will the world record small mouth be broken?
I believe the SM and Spot records will fall much sooner than the LGM one. SM are much more vulnerable to FFS, and I think the next WR will caught because of FFS. Lake Erie 10lb fish was caught because of it, and I expect the WR to be caught in a very similar manner. Some savant with lots of time on the water will eventually find the one rock or boulder that she is holding on.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Not sure I just visit their brick and mortar store. I'm not even finding a website, the one I do find is for a store in LA. Haha, too funny, my last purchase from them was for a Trijicon RMR for a G19.5 MOS

Very cool, know that you are giving your money to really nice, and honest people. Been buying tackle from them for close to 30yrs. They get some of my 2A funds as well, it's just a 25min drive each way to them.

Is rod/reel aesthetics super important to you?
That's a great analogy for how I treat my reels. I fish them super hard, but some knock on wood don't have a noticeable scratch. You can fish reels hard and still have them looking mint.

Is rod/reel aesthetics super important to you?
I love all things Japanese when it comes to Bass fishing, they get it in a way nobody else does. Their quality control, incredibly intricate yet robust designs, and topical to this thread, their aesthetic is second to none imho. I'd be just fine only buying JDM outside of rods. Shimano and Daiwa reels are not only the best, but they are also the most beautiful imho.
