  1. Surely that couldn't be Simmons Sporting Goods in Alabama. Wouldn't doubt it though, they have killer stuff.
  2. It's 100% Spring here, has been for a week or two. Bass are spawning, had to go to my high end store yesterday to pick their brains, and they said no doubt the fish are spawning. My catch results have plummeted like a lead balloon. Pollen is terrible, buds and blooms everywhere, grass is greening up, haven't had a day in the 50s for weeks, overnight temps are in the mid 50s to mid 60s. I MISS WINTER SO MUCH ALREADY ?
  3. I was looking at some of my original BDS3s and then realized that a 6th Sense Crush100x was to the naked eye at least essentially the same bait. You guys ever notice this. Catfish stole a BDS3 in the fall, been looking for that bait ever since ?
  4. I'd call them then at 1 562 493 0300 Jackall is one of my favorite companies, I own the big and little version of this bait, if you can't get in contact with a company, that's not a good sign.
  5. Nice, thanks for the info! I was torn between this one which is HL Hasu and the Blue Pearl Shad. Couldn't remember which colors Matt Allen recommended and this one reminded me of GG Threadfin by MegaBass.
  6. You don't have to twist this Daiwa fanboy's arm, thanks ? I'm working my way to owning mostly JDM versions of Daiwa reels, and this line was bought for a Zillion SV TW which holds 90m of 14lb and 80m of 16lb. Hoping to get two good refills with 165yds. Won't ever make the mistake of buying a 165yd spool of 8lb InvisX and not put backing on a 3000 sized reel.....lol, now I got about 35-40yds of leader material. I'm not cheap as I believe in the buy once cry once model, but having only started back in late July of last year after a 10yr+ break, I had so many holes that needed to be filled from baits, to new reels, to TMs, and Sonar. Hopefully one day I'm in a position to buy high end stuff in bulk. Really I'm betraying P-Line if I'm honest, for heavier applications, P-Line's Ultimate Fluorocarbon has been perfect in every single manner. The only thing that got me looking at Shooter/Sniper/Tatsu was the line diameter per lb test. The P Line is thick stuff, punches way above it's weight class but ties up more capacity, and I think reduces some distance on casts. Again though it's like diamond rope lol. Used most of the Seaguar stuff sans Tatsu and AbrasX, and I like it all, however I don't trust it completely. If I kink the Red Label, might as well cut it, and with the InvisX, the abrasion resistance is not fantastic. That InvisX is just so supple and strong given it's not abraded.
  7. LOL, don't forget the Country Club pond route too ?
  8. Finally someone speaks the truth! If we're in speaking range, one of us has seriously screwed up in my book ?
  9. Glad you are feeling better, and back to living life to the fullest. Looks delicious!
  10. Catfish in ponds are very bad juju for growing a healthy Bass population. Pond Management professionals will tell you that unless you want a catfish pond to eat them, don't stock them if your primary goal is Bass fishing. A shock study would likely show that many small Bass need to be culled, the catfish need to be removed, and then an annual stocking of threadfin to go along with a bluegill feeder or two. That's the general recipe for growing big Bass in ponds. That's the cheapest and easiest way to do it at least. If this isn't your pond, sounds like you might want to google earth some new ones to fish. Not much you can do if big fish aren't prolific in the body of water. You're in Texas, I'm sure there are countless ponds with DDs in them.
  11. Yes he's a true hammer, and I've had direct success because of something I watched in a video he posted. Helping those boys get into tourney Bass fishing let's you know the kind of man he is. I love it all Bob, you live in harmony with this world.....I admire your life mentality the most, you seem to have a lot figured out which is hard to do.
  12. The Japanese monkey ensures my money never goes very far.....why do I have to have such an affinity for JDM stuff. 40 bones never looked so small lol. Being a huge fan of Fluoro, my addiction has led me to buy ever more costly types. This and Invisx are the most expensive to date. The Invisx is most certainly worth the cost for spinning reels. I was looking at Tatsu for $49 and Shooter for $38...not sure I'll ever be able to buy those. That's ridiculous money for 165-200yds of line.
  13. You really are the perfect professional to handle this problem should Bob ever require your services, which hopefully he won't. Bob's got a real zen thing working, you hate to see a couple of animals reek havoc on that. My dream has always been to own a pond or small lake, I can't imagine the heartbreak of seeing Otters eat my foodchain, and Bass.
  14. True story time: Down at Auburn we had a fraternity goat named Stomach Ache for a year before he found a forever home on a farm. The coolest goat ever. Anyway the fraternity president was drunk as a skunk one night and didn't believe in the whole "head butt" thing. This 200lb+ dude gets on all fours and starts revving towards Stomach Ache like a Bull, in the blink of an eye Stomach Ache rams his head squarely and momentarily knocked him clean out. Easily one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life, as if Stomach Ache wasn't a legend by that point, his popularity soared after that. ?
  15. Bob just needs to bribe you with some filets and get those assassin skills on the property ?
  16. HAHAHAHA.....that's too awesome. I want baby billy goat ?
  17. Is it legal to take them out? I'm all for the circle of life and complete ecosystem, but somethings just don't play well with others. Watch Clarkson's Farm on Amazon if you want to really lose your mind.
  18. Haha, I tell you what.....the SM is the trout of the black bass universe, this just confirms it ?
  19. Beautiful cornocopia of black bass as always brother, and it's so cool how your fishing buddy is Don Johnson. Tell him I loved Miami Vice ?? Which ones taste the best, can you tell a difference b/t an Alabama Spot and Smallie?
  20. Nice! I'm at my wick's end, it's like a light switch flipped once that water hit 60+
  21. A 13lb Channel is a really big one in my book. They stole a couple high end cranks in the Fall from me. If you are able to turn them right away and get to open water, things go okay, but that first run on them so many times, combined with the twisting takes me into cover or breaks me off from the twisting. Savor that 54 degree water, my water has been in the 60s for a week+ now and I'm so frustrated that I might take a break. Dynamite stuff Pat, I not sure what impresses me more, the health and beauty on the 7lb fish, or the fact your wonderful family is involved in all of it. Being able to share and love these fish with a wife and son is exceptionally special and quite rare. Josh Jones might catch a DD everyday, but he's either by himself or with clients. I'm pretty sure the pre spawn is over here, and it's super depressing. Never thought I'd already be looking forward to winter. Water temps have been 62-66.5 for over a week, and my results are pathetic. Glad to see you making the most of pre spawn.
  22. Had one in May of 2020.....worst pain I've ever felt. Rolled on the floor for a few hours before I was convinced I was dying and had to get taken to ER. From that day forward I've only drank water......cold turkey stopped every other beverage. The pain is real lol. Get better friend, that's a massive one. Change up some things to avoid those in the future.
  23. Broke mine back out for the first time since the Fall today. Tough day for everything I threw, but to me the WM seems to really shine when the water is in the 60s+. It's just far more aggressive to me than a 110, and throws a ton more flash. Just wish it cast like a 110. I forgot how sharp the hooks were, and that's after 25-30 fish easy on it. Tied it on, look down 5 mins later and blood is on my cork knobs......oh that's right I tied that WM on ?
