No dumb questions @SJS ! The old adage of wait for the tap-tap never really worked for me. One tap is a bite, a second is something else (fish dropping the bait, cover, rock ,,,etc.) Typically more than one tap I associate with a bluegill (or similar) pecking at the bait. I fish a t-rig a lot, like every time I go out. It’s my confidence bait. “Feeling” the bite is my best attribute, but I fish it on a tight line. Hardly ever slack in my line, rod pointed at the bait and using the reel more than the rod. I set the hook instantly, without hesitation because hesitation allows the fish to inhale the bait causing deep hook penetration. Which I hate! Most of the time it’s just “something different “, a thump, limp feeling in the line, the line moving off or a dead weight or pulling resistance as I reel. Set The Hook! Sensitive rod and line with excessive concentration and paying attention to the details are all parts to the presentation.
  2. Mostly Terminators but over the last few years I agree with @A-Jay, the Siebert’s are outstanding and he will make about any combo you may want in arm length, blades, head and skirt. Now by far my favorites.
  3. Thanks for the update. Happy to hear you are doing well mentally, if not physically. We are here if you need anything, just ask. Thoughts and prayers follow you daily. Stay strong
  4. The scupper is the hole in the floor where water drains out it usually also has a seam in the middle of it. That is the reason manufacturers recommend do not place a stake out pole in the hole because it can cause a crack resulting in water intrusion.
  5. T-rig NIKKO 6” shakey worm in earthworm 4 0 Gamma hook with 1/4 to 3/8 tungsten weight Carolina rig, Zoom 6” lizard 3/4 oz weight with beads, 3’ leader
  6. Spinnerblade, Texas-rig worm, crankbait, underspin paddletail……….always.
  7. Over 64, Senior “Fish For Life” license, $17.00
  8. Hummmm, definitely a different mouse trap. For me I think a more complicated device laying in the boat looking to get broken. At $30.00 I would have to pass.
  9. Not to clutter the OP thread with another tangent! Yes HB nomenclature is very confusing and being a Garmin guy it’s hard to decipher at times. I have had a Helix 7 for a short time but the transducer was wrong and it was a pain to get it resolved. Thanks MSI $850.00 on sale G4 MSi $650.00 on sale No One Boat Networking Ok I stand corrected and did find the Helix for $600.00 but it doesn’t network with the One Boat ,
  10. Correct, but I also stated the “for me , affordable” units do not. You have to move to the near $900.00 range for the 2d si/di option. That’s double the amount for the “one or the other” di or si units. Which is basicly paying for the upgraded transducer to get both. Just like adding the OneBoatNetwork you have to move into the upper price range units for trolling motor compatibility.
  11. I have a Striker Vivid 4cv that is going up for sale. I bought it midway through last summer and it has seen very little time on the water. The Hummingbird is great because of their included maps but the Garmin units have better optic graphics and gps system. I debated this my self as I have a MinKota Terrova and the Hummingbird unit connects to it (for a price) but went with a new Garmin. I moved up to a larger unit (bigger screen) with both down & side view, which isn’t an option on (the affordable for me) Hummingbird units, it’s either on or the other….. The 4cv is going up for sale. It’s in brand new condition with all the paperwork in the original box. Let me know if you have any interest otherwise it will be in flea market shortly.
  12. Yep, quality company.
  13. So @redmeansdistortion if I were to remove the bearings in my Shimano mgl”s and clean the grease what “lubes” the bearing? Just put it back together dry, oil ?
  14. FG knot, 18 to 24 foot leader to braid
  15. Both from Siebert’s with your choice of trailers I typically fish the 1/4oz swimjig with a ned craw swiming it above grass and weeds, letting it fall in and ripping it out. For me If wanting to fish IN the cover “The Dredge Brush Jig is a powerhouse jig designed to excel in brush, laydowns, and complex structure. Whether you’re fishing light weeds, thick brush piles, or dragging down the sides of tree tops, this jig consistently gets bites. As it falls, the jig naturally positions the trailer at a 45-degree angle, maintaining an enticing presentation on the bottom.” For me If wanting to fish OVER the cover “The Swim Jig is your perfect all-around option for covering water, navigating through grass, or targeting fish in open water. Built to order, this jig is designed for smooth retrieves, durable performance, and superior weedless capability. Whether you’re slow-rolling or burning it through cover, this jig gets the job done.”
  16. Yes Sir
  17. @A-Jay , in yours or the fish?
  18. Late response but searching I came across This Read the thread and there are some useful recommendations. Not the same exact unit but same issues and helpful changes for better visuals resolution.
  19. Looks like the white clips are holding the wire peg-board hanger to the board and the baits are suspended by paperclips(?).
  20. Deps Tiny Bullshooter $50.00
  21. The young guns getting it done. Nice to see The Nation represent!
