@MediumMouthBass I never said you were uneducated. I said that the statement was. You said helmets protect but, not really. That’s a pretty good word salad. My friends son lost his life due to his brain swelling from an accident racing. helmet safety with motocross has been a huge priority for me since than. I didn’t show up to a track and hear about it. I watched my friend and his wife suffer through the loss of their child. That isn’t a college education you can buy.

This is a highly uneducated statement. This event was such a minority of incidents it’s not worth bringing up. I raced motocross for well over a decade multiple times a week. I ran around with people in the pro ranks. The death rate would be insane without helmets. If you follow proper protocol with replacing helmets after you take a hit even if it’s two days old you replace it. Also the whole thoughts of how helmets protect has changed. That’s why good helmets are $400 plus. They learned a helmet needs to absorb impact to limit the impact of the brain against the inside of the skull basically. That impact inside the skull is what causes the concussions and neurological issues. This would be exactly like saying you can still drown with a life jacket don’t wear it. This is very sad news. I do not wish the passing of an accident like this on anyone. There is such a misconception that fishing is a safe sport. That makes many people lack the want to be safer. I wear my life jacket when running on the river. I know if ejected I will probably ended up with a smashed head on a rock but, I still want to give myself every chance possible to make it.

Unpopular opinion. If we cared that about the fish we catch we wouldn’t fish. I argued this with musky too. If you want to keep them and it’s legal have at it. I highly doubt any fish getting banged off the boat floor is the worst thing that’s ever happened or going to happen to them. I think keeping them in a live well all day getting their brains beat in running 70mph for an hour back to weigh in is worse yet that is the whole base of BASS.

There is an older couple that I see canoeing on the susky from time to time. Every time I see them I think of @Swamp Girl. just enjoying the basics of life.

I went from bank fishing to a Coleman scanoe to a tracker to my G3. I like to stand to fish it was difficult and uncomfortable in the scanoe. I did it for years and caught a lot of musky doing it. I did end up putting a TM on it. I couldn’t afford a boat at that time. I would never use anything but a boat at thid point. I like the room comfort and taking my dog or dad. people try making their kayak a small boat. Which is well we know where I stand on that. I think people shy away from canoes because they aren’t “cool”. They want to keep up with the fads. Honestly the areas you fish the canoe is perfect. For me I feel like I have the best option for my area.

So I do not know how you go about filling out the form. My guess is you already have the fish in your possession which would already be illegal for him. He than thought oh **** I’m already in to deep I’ll just go get a license after. Maybe he had an auto renew for his license and something didn’t process? a lot of times the cover up is worse than the crime. Like people who think they have warrants give a false name. Than they find out they didn’t have a warrant but, are going to jail because they lied to an officer. of course he will turn this into YouTube videos that’s his job. He’s d**n good at it obviously. On a personal note I like that he is an outlaw and not bought and paid for by the fishing companies. I don’t agree with everything he does. He is however living on his terms. Isn’t that what we all would like to do?

I forget to open the bail sometimes. I do not have much experience with dawia reels but, would have no hesitation buying one. My current reels do what I need to do with no issues so I have no plan to look at buying a dawia. It’s all just like ford, Chevy, dodge.

@Munkin I never heard of those. Is it an outboard jet without a tunnel hull? If so a river rocket is going to be 100% different in handling and well pretty much every aspect other than it has a jet and can go shallow.

@Koz so, I am just a dumb welder. To me this translates to BASS series is a belly up organization that can’t fund itself so the state funds it in hopes to turn a profit on tourism?

@Koz why would the chamber of commerce have to do with this? Not being a jerk I just honestly do not know. It’s not like it’s tying up one area like say raystown. The susky event has a huge footprint as far. I would almost think with the kayak series more than half this field would be locals? Again could be wrong can you clarify this for me? I am seriously just curious. I could see if it was an elites or something of the such tying up a bunch of stuff with weigh in ramps etc. the boat tournaments are a usually small clubs. Not 50 plus boat fields more like 10-15 boats. Plus everything below sun bury would have to be catch photo release or catch weigh release. I know many boat anglers do not like that. @gimruis if someone uses a public ramp and can paddle their kayak there or use a kayak with a TM and not get out good chance I can get there too. If I can get there good chance there’s a nut or three who will send it even further.

As far as I know you pay them a fee to get a permit to hold the event. I’ve never done it but I know they hold Tuesday night Wes plus weekend tournaments throughout the common wealth. I am sure there is more to it though it’s PA. If they can slap a fee or regulation on it they will.

Took the susky away for this year. Guess they wanted to get away from roots kayak fishing.it always seemed to be a place everyone enjoyed.

@Koz ohhh an engineer. Explains why our opinions differ. I’m the guy who has to make an engineers dreams reality and tell them they are wrong go back to the drawing board on a weekly basis. I do not understand the zen with a kayak at all. All I wanted when I fished out of a canoe was a boat. back to the original topic. When you have wind I’m sure it will be a great treat trying to load up with auto pilot on a trailer. Your system yoj use now will be better for less than ideal situations. If you ever have to go swimming for your kayak you with loathe the day you ever decided this.

@Koz I know you aren’t ready for it now. It just seems like a lot of the things you are trying to accomplish is to make your kayak like a boat. It seems like you are always changing things around because you aren’t quite happy with the way it is. I don’t know you personally but, you could just be a tinkerer always trying to get it perfect or you are just trying to make it something it’s not. Only you can answer that question. I’m just on the outside looking in with that assessment.

I know you love your kayak fishing but, Power loading a boat on and off is a hell of a lot easier than the kayak BS. I know you are moving and may not be the time it’s something to seriously consider when you have the opportunity to.

Don’t over complicate something that’s working for you. You are asking for a lot more to “go right”
