No entry fees for 2025 Bassmaster Elite Series
None of these pros have to do this for a living. This will never be the NFL,NHL,MLB NBA sorry, it’s just not that way. The fishing industry will survive whether there is any pro fishing league. Do I think it’s right that these guys have to struggle and hustle to and be pro? No I do not. They deal with the same money issues you and I deal with just are given a platform to complain about it. They might make 250k a year but spend 200k of it. Sadly that’s what happens when you sign up to do this.

10 Best Colleges for Sports Fans
I’m not a college sports fan. Not do I like Penn state but, can’t believe that they aren’t on the list given the whole support for that college here is a cult. Despite all the despicable things covered up.

Well, This is a First
They were doing an initiative like this at stonewall Jackson probably about 5 years ago as a study on musky. They even had radio trackers in them and would update them weekly.

Pull the trigger on bass boat
Get the boat you really want if you can afford it! Just my opinion.

If you bass fished as a kid, what was it like?
I would wade the susky with my dad and brother. Him carrying a bucket full of live minnows.

Winter 2024 / 2025 ~
82 here yesterday broke the record today around 78. Should be low to mid 60s also going on a record of no measurable rain fall with like 26 consecutive days of no measurable rain.

Short bass boats to consider
@casts_by_fly you can comfortably fish a 600 acre lake with a boat off a TM. Had a cheap Newport vessel 55thrust transom mount I used to put on the back in addition to my bow mount on my tracker 160 to make big moves across the lake. Even though it was of lessor thrust it took a lot of strain of the bow TM batteries. my fishing and what I wanted to do changed ALOT from my first boat till now. I had a 20hp prop to fish the HP restricted lakes. Dabbled in some light river fishing. I mainly fished musky than too. Now I am a smallmouth river rat. I also know the pains of loading everything in and out. For years I fished for musky out of a Colman scanoe with a trolling motor. I would quit before I went back to that.

Elite Series: no longer pay to play
It’s good but, who did BASS sell their financial souls to so this got accomplished? Down the road the true colors of this may show.

@Koz honestly unless you get a bare bones jon boat you’d probably be hard pressed to get a boat under 2000. I just have to tease you a bit. You need a bare bones yak and get up here to the susky!

@Koz still need to come to the dark side with a boat

@casts_by_flyid day it’s pick your poison. Look at what the jet opens up for you and see if it’s worth it. I had to make the personal Choice as well. Get a jet and give up the electric and HP restricted waters but, give me access to rivers. I didn’t do what was closest I did where I thought I’d enjoy fishing the most. if you do decide to go the jet boat way and have any questions feel free to PM me.

@casts_by_fly the other issue is you do not want a 9.9 jet. You always want to be maxed out with the horsepower rating foe the boat. I wouldn’t go below a 60/40 you’ll never get on plane or it will take forever to get there. You can only run in 3-4” of water on plane. the other realization you are going to have to live with is you are going to hit stuff with your boat. Possibly damaging it.

@casts_by_fly on a jet there is no reverse gear or forward gear. There is just a hinge that changes the water stream for forward or reverse. I try to avoid using reverse unless I am in 3ft or deeper. Simple reason is it throws all the bottom debris up and goes through your impeller. Than you need to sharpen it.

East wind
I can’t say I ever look what direction the wind is coming from. I just fish it as it is.

A tracker 160-170 would be your best bet honestly. As far as a jet that’s almost a completely different topic I did have a tracker 160 with a jet on it though. I loved my tracker for electric only lakes easy to load light to move. My 18’ g3 (toxics buddy has a g3) I would never take to a lake I couldn’t power load. It’s to heavy and drafts shallow you will float over the bunks extremely easy.

Effectiveness of baits from year to year
I never got top water or ned rigs going this year. But spinners and cranks were solid most the year.

Pike Waters
@gimruisi know your love for pike lol. Basically my side of PA does not have northern pike. You have to go to the western part of the state for them. Every once and awhile you have a fluke one come out of the susky. Probably made its way from raystown is my guess.
-
Pike Waters
@gimruis have at it buddy 😂😂 I have never fished water with pike in them. Musky and pickerel only. I do not have many run ins with musky bass fishing. Ironically fishing some of the exact locations I was target musky and catching them.
-
Any other musky fisherman?
@gimruis rip a mag dawg like your life depends on it! I am officially two years musky fishing free.
-
Bomb casting. When is far “too far”?
@gimruis is correct. Anytime I try to bomb it it goes not as far or a backlash. Lobbing it out letting the rod load up is the must better option. That’s how I casted mag dawgs all day musky fishing. fishing rods, golf clubs, hockey sticks, they all have that flex that sling shots. as far as what is to far from a hook up stand point? I do not think I can cast far enough for it to be a problem so I do not know. The only problem is a tree.

Post a photo a day!
@slonezp that was mainly the 22-23 years. Hopefully this kne does not have one.
