  1. I am very sorry for this. I hope turns out alright for your family. My dad is going in Monday to get his kidney removed. 65 years old found a mass. Rides 20-30 miles on a bicycle every day for as long as I can remember. He’s been retired 3 years now. That is one of the reasons I get what I want. I think the other generations felt very promised to retire and worked towards that. Most people I talk to in their 30s know they won’t retire. Myself included. My wife and I have good jobs. We both put into 401ks that’s not enough anymore. I won’t sacrifice living today for a future I might never have.
  2. I think all this just comes down to we are moving where most of the environmental impact happens. The end result sure sounds great on paper but, the way to get there might not be any better. We are always going to be doing something to hurt the environment period. Right now all the care is zero emissions. Doesn’t matter what we ruin or how dangerous some of it is to get to that point.
  3. I did this when i musky fished.
  4. I’m about 2 hours and 15 minutes from it. Right down 81. I had to quit due to an injury about 7 years ago.
  5. I use the Palomar knot to the lure and the double uni for leader connections.
  6. Welcome aboard! I love West Virginia. Beautiful state. I love fishing stonewall Jackson for musky and when I raced motocross I was down there often at tomahawk. One of these days I’m going to get down there in the Potomac in my boat.
  7. I love full penetration. Especially on a 3 pass weld. This was a destructively tested macro etched weld.
  8. @FryDog62 that price was including the trailer. It was roughly like $2500 she said.
  9. @gimruis jealously. Excuses. The list goes on. I understand the whole YouTube thing. Sadly that’s the way you have to make a living for the most part as a pro angler.
  10. @Koz it’s quite alright. I know there are people who think she gets stuff handed to her. I am not one of those people. I also think it’s neat she has fished some of the areas I have.
  11. @casts_by_fly she said her hobie is 6500 the trailer was 2500 so there is half the cost. She does have FFS. What else I have no clue. It was just in a recent podcast she did.
  12. @Koz I have the utmost respect for her and her fishing skill. I would never take that away from any angler who deserves it as she does. My jaw just dropped when she said how much she has into her kayak. There is people that have more than that wrapped up into theirs. I was thinking around 10k not double that.
  13. @gimruis obviously she is fishing the big tournaments. That’s half of what my boat cost out the door. I have have about $1600 wrapped up in graphs and $3500 in a TM. I know most people are spending way more than $1600 in one graph. She said her kayak alone was 6500. I know it happens in all things where something starts out cheap and fun than gets expensive and serious.
  14. Life has been getting in the way of this post. It’s finally calming down. The river was running about 5.2 and clear. Overcast with a high of almost 60. I was unsure where the fish would be since it was a drop from a major sustained level. I went to a normal wintering hole. Nothing was producing. Neds, jerks with long pauses, tubes and cranking. I went over to another area near by and caught 3 about 1.5 pound smallies on ned rigs. This was right on a current seam being pushed into a steeper/ deeper rock bank. I fished this area a little longer than went on the search. I ended up going into a rocky creek in 2-4 fow and lost one crank baiting fairly aggressively. The smallies were very very sluggish. Even the one that hit the crank I thought I just picked up leafs as I was reeling in. all in all I had a great trip out and caught my first fish of 2024. Now we currently have snow on the ground and I may not be out till March. I was hoping to do the catch a fish every month challenge but, missed January do to unsafe ice and weather. My previous trip fishing I was skunked. I also was fishing a lake.
  15. Some days just aren’t the days. You aren’t on the right pattern. Weren’t there at the right time etc. In my opinion stating you struggle makes everything more believable than someone who only posts about the “ups”. Is there days I don’t catch anything? Yes! Is there days I struggle to get one? Yes! Is there days I kill it? Yes! if bragging is all people get into the sport of fishing for than they are in it for the wrong reasons. I do it because I am always learning, it’s a challenge and when I do break the code it makes me feel accomplished. I genuinely enjoy fishing and being out on the water. I do not do it for likes, wows, pats on the back. I do it for me. I applaud you on being real.
  16. Kristine Fischer said how almost all the anglers in the series are running FFS. She also said that her kayak rig is 19,500. Mind blowing what kayak anglers are spending on something that doesn’t have a gas motor on it. If that’s what you enjoy have at it.
  17. I miss fishing for musky. Not that I ever really fish for them but catfish. If I never caught another one in my life I’d be ok with it.
  18. Let’s up the ante and musky fish this way.
  19. I stopped fishing when I turned 16 and didn’t start again till I was about 22. Been doing it then ever since. The earliest I remember fishing was in early elementary school.
  20. We use the big nocos to jump the 26’ straight body trucks. Every once and awhile it takes two.
  21. @gimruis I saw two guys Saturday in the river floating down it motor wouldn’t start. The pull start was ripped they were using a drill to start it. The motor wouldn’t fire so they hit into a bunch of rocks. I went over asked if they needed help. They basically looked at me like I was stupid and said no we can paddle right down to the sketchy ramp. Ok see ya
  22. I’d say I’m between 2-6 hours per night really depends on the night. It sucks but it’s life.
