I enjoy putting the pieces of the puzzle together.

So I went to a lake
I sometimes lean towards the connivence side of fishing now. I love to do it and always want to be on the water. Sometimes I will sacrifice a better area just to get out. I used to go to nock when I had my 20hp and musky fished. It’s a bit of a drive for me. About an hour and a half. The HP restriction helps with the not getting bounced around. Personally I’d rather head up to the north branch and hit up some smallie areas. It’s about the same distance as nock.

Trailer tires?
I think you can pick up the exact spare at BPS. When I got mine I think it was around $70. That was pre covid though. I have mine mounted up on the tongue and do drag from time to time.

So I went to a lake
I do tend to avoid the place but, it’s 32 minutes from the parking lot to backed into my garage doing the speed limit. My usual river areas are 40-60 minutes away. I would like to fish it more but, I don’t like the crowds. Not so much the boats and launching it’s just the general groups of people hanging out in the lot walking around, crowding the ramp area etc.

So I went to a lake
I rarely fish there. Maybe a handful of times a year. I know it’s not a big lake but, I try to fish it small. I think people spend to much time there going from spot to spot.

So I went to a lake
Most people here know I am a river rat and chase smallies. I changed it up today and went to blue marsh. Now, there is smallies there but, my primary target was LMB. I struggled about half the day. I was making a last ditch effort to save the day and pulled out three LMB. One dink and two alright ones. I was pitching a T rig to driftwood on a wind blown bank.

Looking for smallmouth info.
When I was getting them it was either on Ned’s or drop shot. They all seemed to be on the edge of deeper water. It’s just been really slow compared to how it normally is this time of year.

Looking for smallmouth info.
I haven’t had much luck on the susky either. It maybe due to lower then normal spring conditions. I also haven’t and much luck shallow.

Any Phoenix bass boat owners here?
Enjoy your new boat when you get it!

Last year it was getting down right dangerous to even launch. Running a boat you needed your head examined. I found a post on another forum a while ago that was referring going up to the statue in fort hunter. Which has a good channel to follow. It’s a decent rules to follow anywhere. 4’ props can creep around if they know the area 3.8 most production jets won’t have issues 3.7 boy that was close 3.5 you need your head checked 3.3 you might not come back with a boat. last year we spent a lot of the summer below 3.5 I’ll be back at it again this weekend got the new intake on. Put the new liner in that came with it. Now, I will be going to a lake near by I can run my motor. I do not like to do anything to my boat that could affect the possibility of my motor not working correctly without going there first.

That’s very true. My boat would suck for big water. I personally think jets are terrible but, it’s pretty much the only option for me. Gotcha. I know my river gauges and where I can run. Last year I hung up the river for a little. I would have been better wading it then in a boat or kayak. If we don’t soon get some rain we are going to be headed there before the end of may.

That’s a sweet little rig. Wouldn’t be the best for the susky though. You’d have to be selective of when you go out. I’m not saying it wouldn’t get the job done but better for Our little creeks. 9.9 props struggle once the water gets above 5’ it averages probably 3/4 of a mile wide in the Harrisburg stretch and south. More and more people are running the 60k plus rockproof, river raptor inboards.

Line for drop shot fishing?
I started using 8lb sniper. I do like it. I feel like the slight stretch helps me not lose fish compared to braid

Makes sense 25-30 is average with a 60/40. My boat drafts about a foot. So I need roughly 2 feet of water to run my jet and not suck up debris. I would say with a jet gas tank batteries and TM you’d probably sit around 800-1000lbs. So probably easily a 1000lbs lighter then the G3 I’m going to get.

Yes mokai is what they are. 30k seems really pricey if it’s only a 16. What is the largest jet a 60/40?

Gotcha so you’re looking at roughly 13k to get into one. I actually never saw them before. I haven’t seen those like cockpit kayaks with a jet on them. I forget what they are called. They do look like neat little boats that have a niche. The Harrisburg/fort hunter area is as gnarly and unforgiving as it gets.

They look like neat boats what do they run price wise?

I prefer spinning.

Folding trailer tongues
Well I measured a boat. Everything should be good to go. Just waiting on them to take orders for 2024s

Outboards are probably fine for 95% of what you will probably do. If you would get a tunnel with UHMW on the bottom it wouldn’t be much different then an inboard other then the steering and getting on plane as fast. I’ve run shallow and bumped bottom on plane. Just skate across it most times. This time I came through a turbulent water area and couldn’t tell where the rock was till it was to late. I do like that idea. I actually do that most the time thinking about it. Generally up stream. I tend to go furthest away first and work my way back to the ramp. Some ramps can be 6 plus miles apart. There is almost always someone out on the river here so more then likely I could get some help. I do think I will carry a spare boot on my next boat just incase.

Any hockey fans?
The Bruins wore the panthers down. That was very evident in the third period. Pretty good game all around. I get up 3:30-4am everyday. It gets very hard to stay up to watch unless it’s a 5pm start time. I could never make some of your guys start times.

I am going to get a 18’ G3 tunnel CCJ. I like the ease of being able to swap things out on the fly with the outboards. All the new rockproof style inboard jets are awesome. Seeing more and more of them. They are built like tanks and probably weigh as much as one too. Im just saying I will not spend 40k plus to beat a boat just to catch fish. Accidents happen. That’s part of running a boat shallow. If I think I have a greater chance of putting a hole or breaking an intake just to get to a spot I will probably pass. If I do not think the risk is that high I will run it. If you spend 70K on a truck, I highly doubt you are going mudding and rock crawling with it.

I’ll sacrifice a tool in a heartbeat to get the job done. I won’t sacrifice my boat. Thank you. Doesn’t get any easier than 6 nuts. I just need to hold out a 4-5 more months (hopefully) till I get my new boat. I am trying not to have to put more money into this one.

To me a boat is more of an investment that I need to take care of the best I can. Accidents happen but, I don’t use my boat as a battering ram just to go catch some fish. I know some people do. Not to mention the fact that injury and death could occur. I don’t want to be welding or buy intakes every other month.
