  1. In my opinion it depends how warm the water is already. They may sit right outside the shallow to keep away from the fluctuation surface temps. They wouldn’t retreat too deep but, I’d say the 4-8 range is where they would be instead of the 1-4. I am not saying some still won’t be shallow either. Sounds like a drop shot bite.
  2. It wasn’t long after I got my boat I was fishing the river. I heard a splash and my buddy in the back of the boat goes did you just see that? I said what? Here a heron ran into an overhead power line died and fell right next to my boat. A couple more feet and it would have landed in my boat. I have lots of musky stories. Two that stick out in my head are mind blowing but similar. I was trolling for musky. Got hung up. Reeled my lines in but didn’t take them out of the water. Got the snag out going back to my console an upper 40s musky was sitting right behind one of my baits just floating in the water. Tried like hell to get it to eat but wouldn’t. another time I was musky fishing. I had just put a spinner bait on. Dipped it over the side of the boat just to make sure everything was spinning how it should. Musky comes in I start figure 8 went around a few times then gone.
  3. Just curious how does that prop do in current?
  4. Well they say you can teach common sense.
  5. He told me I am the give way vessel. I said true under certain circumstances. Fishing is not one of them. I also can not always come off plane it is unsafe for me to do so in the shallow river. I can run in 3-6” of water. I cannot come off plane in 3-6” of water. I really feel like it should be mandatory for kayakers to take a safety course.
  6. That’s pretty much impossible here. Unless you own a farm pond.
  7. I am thankful I do not have to deal with the dock issues like that. I do however run into a lot of kayakers who think I need to get out of their way while I’m fishing.
  8. I don’t fish the one area much but, the runway for HIA is pretty much in the river.
  9. I wish I could. All I hear is power plants, highways or trains. All times of day or night.
  10. I have a buddy who all his welds get ultra sounded. He was making $33 and some change on second shift. Now he makes $29 and some change on first. He begs me to come out there. I tell him he’s a fool.
  11. around here unless you are doing AWS structural cert welding. You are not seeing $30 an hour. You’d be looking at $25 on the high side and that’s not to start . Down the road they have big banners for fork lift drivers starting rate $25 an hour.
  12. Yes sir! My place of employment wonders why they cannot get welders anymore. This is exactly why. The can go a few miles down the road and start driving forklift for more then we will start them at.
  13. I use a bose bluetooth speaker. It works great. I generally always have some form of music playing or pod cast on.
  14. It was also his 300th goal of his career. His 4th hat trick against the flyers.
  15. Slow day again but got it done!
  16. Try McMaster carr. A little pricey generally but you can get whatever you want.
  17. Welcome aboard! I am a PA river rat here or should I say I am fish miner in the quarry of the susky.
  18. Ironically I have not heard of them. Looks like they were born and bred on the susky. I can’t say I personally have any bass stuff that looks good. I run super basic. I do however have/had some down right sexy musky baits. I think this is a great thread. I’m sure the bait monkey is going to be biting most of us after this.
  19. My dad is retired. He never owned a boat. I had him run the trolling motor a few times and use the motor. I told him he could take my boat out anytime he wanted. His reply was “ I am retired I sure as hell don’t want to work to fish” so he goes with me whenever time allows me to get out.
  20. I love spot lock. I do not think I could ever fish without it again. Just be mindful it’s going to spin and face into current or wind. Great purchase! I hope you enjoy your new ride!
  21. No they are most definitely a mod V. They may towards the back be completely flat but have a slight V in the front over your typical flat bottom jon. That’s what makes it a mod V not a full V. A flat bottom jon is flat from bow to stern. There is not a V at all in it anywhere.
  22. River loves his boat! He said he’s ready for his new G3 through.
  23. I don’t think you should ever limit yourself to that. It is a good tactic anywhere but, I always tend to fish fast reaction first and slow down if I am not getting anything going. Unless I know for sure weather is leaning more towards finesse style. If that’s the case I reverse my logic.
  24. Nice fish! There will be many bigger ones to come for you!
