  1. I lost 130 pounds. I can’t honestly say I feel better. I also can’t say I would feel how I feel now without losing it. I do feel better about myself and I am more confident. Making changes is hard. Sometimes the benefit of the change isn’t noticed till years later. Anything you can do to better yourself you should do. You have no clue what the dividends might be.
  2. That’s a haul! Just curious do you hire a guide or bring your boat?
  3. @flyfisher sometimes we take it for granted what a great fishery is in our backyards here.
  4. I have heard of people using pool thermometers and dropping them down . I just use my transducer as I’m sure most do. Unless the lake gets a thermocline you won’t be able to see any difference on your graph.
  5. The fastest I have ever seen a boat go is maybe 80? I have never gone fast in a boat it always looks to me that they are one small bump away from losing it.
  6. You’ve never seen the susky and the catfish or bow fishing guys.
  7. I feel like around here is the worst for this. I don’t know how many times even in one day I’ve had half a dozen kayaks go between the bank and me. It used to make me mad. Now I just shake my head and ignore them even if they say hi. Every once a while I would hear someone say to their family he’s fishing go on the other side of the boat. I say thank you I appreciate your respect.
  8. We have an open season. The most I did in a year was 23. We had crazy weekends we’d boat 7. All of a sudden it dried up. I couldn’t even buy a follow for about two years. So I started bass fishing more and more. My goal every year was 12. I wanted to average one a month.
  9. I think lots of things go into this. There are no secrets anymore. Social media makes you feel bad for only catching a couple. I also think many people think they have better memories of fishing then they do. There is s fishing show on outdoor channel. At the end he gives how many casts he made, how many hours he fished and how many fish caught. From what I have seen his average would probably be a fish an hour.sometimes more sometimes less so just a rough estimate he breaks even at one an hour. @gimruis we used to average boat two musky a day. Used to get 10-15 follows a day for the boat. Just like that it died out around here. This is why I switched to bass.
  10. @TnRiver46 he did a very good job at explaining. I was just trying to give the cliff notes version. @ironbjorn the private property along hr susky I’d s big issue I never thought of. Generally owned by a power plant or railroad. The river bottom is also boulders and rock ledges. It’s not made up of gravel or mud. It makes the fishing great but, also makes it extremely dangerous. This level also goes from I need to get over 30 yards of 1-2’ water to I’m running a 200 - 400 yards of it. With the decreased flow it can make it very hard to read the water. As shallow as it gets. If you wade your next step could be I to 6 fow. There is also many lowhead dams on the river. Sadly, one has already claimed a life this year.
  11. I don’t think you are being argumentative. Think of the susky as a half mile to a mile wide cheese grater with water going over it. As the water level drops it because more of a grater than a river. Most people run jets.
  12. How about an extra outboard and TM prop? List looks good. Just keep a cool head on the road. The water isn’t going away. It will be there when you get there
  13. Getting to them can be down right dangerous in low level conditions where I am at. I believe Last year the Hobie kayak tournament let people exit their kayaks as long as they were tethered to them because of how it gets in the summer months.
  14. I fish bainbridge and Falmouth often. I do venture up to city island and fort hunter. Every once a while I will make the trip up to wilkesbarre. Last year I put in at lapidum a couple times a did well in MD. Could have been a fluke though haha. My buddy lives down near there and fishes for blues. every once awhile I’ll fish long level as well.
  15. I went for a morning trip. It’s a fish for free day in PA so I wanted to beat all those people out. The river is running about 3.6 on the gauge I go by. Per usual I do struggle when it’s starts flowing around 3.5 on the gauge. I started out by targeting a powerhouse turbine tunnels. Nothing happened there. I then was targeting trees that got stuck on the bottom and behind exposed rocks. I was in 1’ to 3.5’ of water. I managed a real small one on a crank bait. I eventually threw into one of the “deeper” pockets with a Ned rig and a Trd tickler and managed a decent one. It was a short trip. I wanted to get back before lunchtime. The river is very very close to my low level cut off. I start to really bang hard into stuff. With no rain in sight I may have to go for LMB at lakes. Happy Memorial Day everyone!
  16. I only have room for my boat in the garage. That’s the only place in the whole house my wife permits as “mine”
  17. Chatter baits never seem to work for me.
  18. I had something similar happen to me just recently. I took a guy from work out. I’d consider him a non fishermen. It was still morning with 15-20mph winds. My boat was positioned stern towards a rock ledge. Bow into the wind. He could pretty much run his bait parallel to the ledge. He kept nailing them. I had zero. Which I did not care when I take people my goal is to get them to catch. It took me about 30 minutes and ur dawned on me. The fish are up high taking in the morning sun against this wind blown ledge. He could stay in the strike zone his whole cast. I couldn’t. I made some minor adjustments and got some fish.

  20. Susky has been pretty good lately.
  21. The weather has been nice and will continue to be here. That’s all well and good but, I am nearing my cut off for the river on the low end of things.
  22. @gimruis is correct. Some actually do not even do that. The susky is mighty shallow in summer and they are there. also shallow is relative to where you are fishing. Are you talking inches? 1-3 feet? 3-6?sometimes they just slide to the first break right off the shallow.
  23. I have two med light setups. One I solely have set up for drop shot with 8lb sniper on it. The other I have 10lb 832 with a leader.
  24. There are some awesome sticks here! I’d make an embarrassment of myself fishing with most.
