  1. I’m throwing braid to leader on both of my Curado BFS reels and it has been great and never worry about having too little of line. I would think a Curado 70 would work great also though…
  2. That's one I haven't spent a lot of time doing and need to give it more attention. Next year is a new year
  3. I used to hate throwing ned rigs & didn't care for watching ned rig fishing... just couldn't get excited about it at all. Finally made myself do it a lot this year. Now it's one of my confidence baits. Close to half of my big fish this year has come off the Deadly Nedly. I think part of the new found love is using BFS gear.
  4. I can only hope one of these happens to me!
  5. Thank you! Thanks Glenn! That was the answer I didn’t want to hear but figured that was probably the remedy. I’ll get the strap to finish out this year then I’ll take it easy until spring. I really wanted to up my winter fishing this year but probably best I give it a rest.
  6. My tennis elbow is really starting to bother me lately. By the time I’m heading back to the ramp it’s killing me. It seems to effect me the most when I’m doing a lot of flipping and pitching. Is there anything out there you guys are doing to remedy the pain??
  7. Thanks! So looking forward to using them this weekend.
  8. I just upgraded a couple rods and couldn't be happier with my decision. They just showed up today so of course on my lunch break I had to slap the reels on them. WOW do these things feel good! They're replacing a couple Dobyns Furys (704 & 733). From what I've been told the Furys seem to be 1 power lighter then their rating with a little more moderate action then most. I was just going to get 1 Expride for now, the 7'2" MH/F, and see how it compared and then choose between a 7'2" M/F or 7'2" H/F but i took a risk and ordered the other as the 7'2"M/F and just my initial thoughts I'm glad I did. The Dobyns medhvy still feels less powerful then the Expride medium. I'm headed to Grand this weekend so I'll be able to do some thorough testing. My intentions are: The 7'2" MH/F - main texas rig rod The 7'2" M/F - spinnerbait/senko rod Love the look of those Scorpions on there! ?
  9. I just ordered 2 Exprides myself!... Like a kid at Christmas! I went with the 7'2" M/F and the 7'2" MH/F They'll be replacing my Dobyns Furys ?
  10. I ended up getting the Curado BFS and got to try the new ML Feather/Curado combo today. Ended up throwing a 3/16 Skitter Pop with 15lb power pro. This thing was sending absolute bombs! Ended up loosing the first fish due to my drag being set too loose when I set the hook. But ended up catching one 15” smallie. The rod and reel handled it perfect. Really wanted to try a lightweight finesse Texas rig but just kept the skitter pop tied on. Bonus was I caught my PB smallmouth on the L Feather rigged with the Ned. After about 9:30-10:00 the bite went dead. Fun morning though testing out the new rod.
  11. What line are you running on your Curado BFS/Feather ML rig?
  12. My Feather light is very fun! I throw Ned rigs, 2.75” tubes, 2-2.3” keitechs. Usually with 1/8 oz weight or less. I even livescoped crappie this spring with it. Was a blast! Wanting to use the ML for 3/16- 3/8 range
  13. This is exactly how I thought it was going to go. 3 responses, all different haha
  14. I have the Feather Light paired with a Curado BFS and absolutely love the combo. Thought the Feather ML would be a great fun addition so I just pulled the trigger today. Trying to figure out what reel I should pair it with. Pretty much have it narrowed down to 3 reels. Planning on spooling it up with 15lb Power pro or 832. *Curado/Scorpion/SLX BFS *Curado/Scorpion 71 *Aldebaran 31 What’s everyone using in their Feather ML?
  15. I've got a 150mgl on my chatterbait rod. I'm using 15lb but I don't see any reason 17 or 20 wouldn't work. Oh yeah, it throws a chatterbait a mile!
  16. I have the Phenix Feather light and absolutely love it. For what I do I thinks it’s about perfect as I heard the Dobyns were pretty whippey. I love it so much I’m contemplating getting another. It handles larger fish extremely well. Landed a 20lb Flathead at our city d**n when I was throwing a little 2.5” Keitech for whitebass. It took about an hour to land him but it was a very large fish. This was a 2.75” tube w/ 1/8oz jighead. 10lb power pro w/ 8lb invisix leader. What reel do you have paired with the ML feather?? I’m contemplating getting this rod but not sure if a 70mgl would suit the rod better than a BFS reel.
  17. "Bluebasser86!" HAHA, that was me at the boat ramp on Sunday. Looks like you had a pretty good day with the family! I've been on a crappie kick lately but now I'm back on the bass. I got a couple of hours in before work today and happened to nail this ol girl on a 2.75" tube with the bfs setup. I thought it was a drum for sure until she surfaced... definitely got the heart pumping. Curado BFS Phenix Feather Light Blumpkin 2.75" tube 1/8oz jighead PowerPro 10lb 8lb Invisix leader. Crappy pic
  18. My Brother in Law and I ended up going to Melvern on Sunday. Beautiful day! Started out throwing jerkbaits up the dam. Caught a pile of smallmouth, nothing of any size. Ended up hooking into something huge! At the hook set it started running at the boat and I didn't think anything of it until it turned 90 degrees and started peeling all the line of my Curado 70. I looked at my BOL and said, "its going to spool me!" I feared it would bend out the hooks if I applied any more pressure but I was starting to run out of line. I attempted to thumb the spool a little and ended up snapping my line. I figured I hooked into a huge bluecat since it ran at me the way it did. It was pretty fun although I was totally bummed... I would have liked to see exactly what it was. We went on down the lake a bit and my BOL hooked into a couple big crappie on back to back casts with his squarebill so we ended up crappie fishing the rest of the day and brought home a good mess of them. 7 hours on the lake is a good day
  19. Haha! I only rifle hunt when I go out of the state of Kansas. Try to make it most of those trips ? Antelope got a bad rap back in the day when a lot of out of starters would travel to Wyoming, shoot Pronghorn, strap them to the top of their vehicle and drive home. The key to to skin them and cool the meat down fast. It really is incredibly good if you take care of the meat properly. Thanks! Lifelong dream!
  20. I love all game meat and eat it several times a week. This is my ranking: 1. Moose 2. Pronghorn 3. Elk 4 Deer
  21. I'm curious what this cold front is going to do. I'll be going out Sunday and am undecided on WolfCreek or Melvern. I'll probably end up going to Melvern as I don't want to risk getting kicked off Wolf. I'm just starting to get the hang of Melvern so it's hard for me to go to another lake right now. Where's everyone heading this week?
