I'm plenty happy with my 853.

Daiwa BG. It pushed my Sahara to back up status.

I've got a BG 2500 and a President. I really like the BG, solid as hell reel. A lot of guys here love the President, I'm kinda meh on it. It just sits on a loaner rod. It's fine, but I like Daiwa & Shimano much better.

I prefer first & last light. But I fish anytime I can.

If it's fishing specific it's going to cost more than just a cheap Walmart pack. Like others have said, just get a cheap pack and use Plano boxes.

I meant what spinning reels do most of them use? It would give you chance to maybe try them. I've always gone with Shimano. I did buy a Daiwa BG 2500 last month that I really like though. I'll be buying another in a 1500.

What do the guys that you fish tourneys with use primarily?

I'll try to talk you off the ledge. Not trying to sound like a jerk, but if you have to finance a $60 reel it's probably not a good decision.

I need to try these. I used to be a huge fan of the Mr Twister keeper hooks. These are really similar. Does the screw end pull free of the bait on the hookset?

You probably did, I know I did. Don't get me wrong, I like buying new toys as much as the next guy. But the tackle industry is just like the camo industry. There's something new every year that we just have to have. But a lot of it doesn't have any better result than what we were using 30 years ago. Oh yeah, I like 4/0.

I'd go with the Daiwa. I like that they own their own factory's. They don't contract their work out.
