And the only two issues are slightly oversized or off centered fore grip and dirt on the butt end?

Upgrading my Lineup to NRX+, help appreciated!
How does that 894JWR compare to the 873CRR for ya? Little more length and horsepower? How’s the tips?

NRX+873CRR vs. 893c
Looking at getting the ultimate, texas rig/bottom contact rod for the upcoming season. I hear varying opinions about the 873CRR as well as the 893C JWR. 15-18lb Fluro or 50lb braid, pegged texas rig with 1/4 oz bullet. Medium cover. Any feedback or opinions?

7.3 Mh P Adrena (2nd gen)vs NRX 873 CRR
Keep in mind OP is asking about the 2nd gen Adrena which is the current release. These are touted as being more geared toward the NA market. The prior gen 73mh made a great spinnerbait rod due to the slower tip.
-
What do you use your 73 MH adrena for?
I used mine as a spinnerbait and chatter bait rod….great rod for that technique. With braid, It was a sweet light texas rig rod. This new generation is much more stouter and geared towards USDM techniques. With that said, the new version 7’3” MH is a perfect texas rig/jig rod.

16-19 Metanium vs new Curado 150
That 16’ Metanium was/is the OG. Loved how it palmed and casted! Looked awesome too! The newer Mets seem tiny compared to the 16’

Jerkbait rod suggestions?
Absolutely. You shouldn’t have any issue.

Orochi XX going away?
Pure speculation, but I would venture to say yes and that the Orochi X10 line will take over. I’m guessing we will see more and more updates to the X10 line in 2025 in terms of new models being introduced into the series. Pure speculation on my part.

Jerkbait rod suggestions?
I throw 110’s on a Phenix Feather 6’9” medium heavy. It actually feels and fishes like a medium. Perfect action and length.

Do you service your reels?
Twice a year for me. At season start about March, then again in August. Full tear downs, flushes, re-lubes. Fresh gears, pinions, drag washers also 1x per year at season start. Like a truck, the better you maintain, the better it performs and the longer it lives.

Looking Hard at the Shimano Bantam MGL A Casting Reel ~
Gosh dang A-Jay!!! I know the feeling! They are starting to outnumber and replace my Metaniums! Such a solid, no frills reel with line capacity to boot!

Best frog rod in the 7’ 7’2” range
Only an inch outside of your specs, but the Phenix Feather 7’3” XH is a beast of a frog rod (among other techniques). I used it as my frog rod all season and LOVED it….absolutely perfect and will be back in action for the 2025 season.

Needing a frog rod.
Alpha Angler rods just released a dedicated, heavy slop frog rod. The Elite Spec Pro. It’s a 7’4” heavy designed for fishing in the slop. Great company, great rods!

New Video: December Baits!
Great video Glenn! Tis’ the season to get jiggy with it! Question: You recommend 1/4oz finesse jigs to mimic crawdads. Could a heavier 3/4oz or even 1oz football jig be equally as effective or is the weight dependent upon bottom composition (soft vs. hard)?

2025 plans
Child support and 3 years of alimony begin for me so 2025 will just have me doing more fishing and less gear buying….but don’t worry, I stocked up throughout all of 2024 with some good JDM goodies and a great rod/reel fleet 😎 Wouldn’t mind taking a solo trip from up here in Northern IL down to Fork or Lake O for a week of bank banging in April/May though

Question about lure weight and rod power
This 110% DVT! As I gained more experience on the water (going on 38 years now at age 43 😎) I rarely even look at the print on the rods due to variances from builder to builder. Weight, balance, and the tip test are all I use to determine which rods will be serving different techniques.

Similar line to Seaguar Tatsu
Sunline Shooter or Pline Tactical

I demand a 200-300 size Shimano Bantam
Bantam is a great all around reel at 150 size. If you need a 200 or 300 you have the Curado and Tranx lines to bridge the gap for heavier duty, swim-bait/glide bait techniques.

Professionals rod/ reel choices
Would not surprise me to find out these guys are using custom built rods with high-end blank and components but in the color scheme of their sponsors. Sponsorship in golf is huge and many were using special shafts that were painted to look like a stock offering that Joe Schmoe could buy from a big retailer. Often times sponsors had retail offerings, then a “tour issue” offering. I can’t see how pro fishing would be any different. Ie: Lew’s commissioning NFC, Point Blank, Rainshadow, for their blanks, painted in a scheme or printed to match an off the shelf line offering from Lew’s.

Sunline Xplasma Asegai Braided Line Reviews
I love all the line ranges from Sunline. BEST line in my opinion. Are you looking at a casting or spinning application? I’ve used the Asegai line on casting setups but I settled on their FX2. For casting applications it’s the best (for me) performing braid out of them all. 50lb is my bread and butter. If you are looking for spinning, then Asegai is good because it’s less stiff than FX2. The new Overwatch line is designed for spinning applications and is also a sinking braid which is great for your finesse, vertical techniques.
