  1. Yeah, but are you a murderer? That is the real question.
  2. yeah, pretty sure there is no such thing as too big!
  3. doesn't the carolina keeper eliminate the swivel? I thought the weights and beads were all above the C-Keeper and you moved the keeper to adjust the length of the hook from the keeper.
  4. I hear people talk about fishing stuff at WM but i can never find anything I want. I did buy a Jitterbug there a week or so ago. I wanted a Carolina keeper after watching glenn's video. Not there. I wanted to try some of those small snaps for attaching crankbaits, ( I can;t think of what they are called). Not there. I wanted some tungsten 1/2 oz sinkers for C-rig. Not there. I always walk through that section but I never find much.
  5. We have had a Gander Mountain in Winston-Salem, NC for a year or so. It has a very small fishing section. it is all hunting. I think they have more knives than they do rods and reels
  6. Didn't know they made such a thing. I have a Camaro with a 6.3 L for 425 HP. I had no idea that had one 2 litres bigger! I am looking for a 1 ton truck to pull a horse trailer. But I think I need a diesel. later
  7. I only throw senkos. I've never seen a craw in any lake. They may be there but I've never seen one. I haven't thrown a lizard in 15 years. I could not get it to swim upright so I quit messing with it.
  8. Forget the fish, what car do you drive with a big block 496?
  9. you live in Maine. What do you consider hot weather and hot water?
  10. Man, I have not heard it called a rubber worm in a long time. ha!
  11. I just wanted to say: "that is one awesome avatar!"
  12. I don't use leaders, unless you count C-rigs are leaders but then I use the same size line. I have 50 lb braid on a rod I use with my a-rig because it cost 20 bucks and has lots of hooks. And I want it back if I snag it So far, not a single fish on the a-rig.
  13. The strength-to-diameter ratio for braid is one of the most attractive things about it... Again, I'm not panning braid. I think it's a fine tool. I'm just saying it hasn't been the Holy Grail of fishing for me (yet) as some people seem to make it sound. And, I think that someone can be just as successful fishing with mono (or co-poly, or fluoro, or whatever) if you learn to manage the line well. For sure, it is no holy grail. All it is, is more strength in light line. Which is a pretty good deal, if you ask me.
  14. People should always do what suits them best. As long as you realize that 20-30 lb braid is the same size as 8 lb mono, then you are fine. I like braid better. I use alot of 15 lb which is the sze of 4 lb mono and I like the results.
  15. Well, I guess if it happened to you then I can't argue with it. I have braid on several cheap rods and have never seen this happen.
  16. There are many web sites that test knots. Hard to beat a Palomar knot. 2 lines through the lure make it a very strong knot. Easy to tie. I even use it for SB and other large baits.
  17. I'm west of you in the Winston-Salem area. Same problem with rain and so muddy water. I am doing pretty good with weighless Senkos and topwaters. Even in the middle of the day. Jitterbug!
  18. Yeah, all that crap is BS. I have used braid for years on new and old rods and it does not damage guides. i have fished braid and mono side by side and not noticed any problems with visibility. In other words, often my boat partner uses mono or vice versa and there is no difference. Use whatever you want but Braid is awesome. you can have all the strength you want in a much smaller line.
  19. Brian, I just read the shallow water article you linked. According to the Ph.D this is what you can fish in shallow water even in 100 degree heat. Topwater and "Slush" baits, spinnerbaits and Buzzbaits, Minnow type baits, Worms and Craws. Yep, that just about covers it Last Sunday in 90+ heat I caught 3 on Senkos and 2 on topwater (Jitterbug) and would have caught more but it was a pond and I lost my jitterbug.
  20. Hey Brian, this is why I quit subscribing to Golf and Fishing magazines. If you follow golfing or fishing for very long you will hear the opposite sides insist that they are both right. Especially if the writer has a sponsor with a new deep lure or shallow lure coming out! ha!
  21. for sure, that is where I caught the fishing bug. Used to fish at Beaver (I think) and another small lake also. When my dad was stationed there and I was about 9 or 10 we used to tear up the bream out there. Been at it ever since.
  22. Dude, how big is that fish in your profile picture? It looks enormous.
  23. Why wouldn't you just spool 12# mono? If you are not going to use the braid for its strength, what are you using it for? If you have a 12 lb leader then you are fishing with 12 pound line. Isn't it more costly to use braid? I've never understood this, But I know alot of people use leaders, I just don't get it.
  24. I'm with you Hootie, it never has made sense to me either.
  25. In NC if she is in the boat and you are fishing, you better have a license for her.
