Most Underused Fishing Resource?
I've tried looking at a couple of local lakes with Google earth but it doesn't tell me anything. What are you looking for? it does not show underwater contours, or am I not using it correctly? I'll search for some USGS Topo maps.

How Do You Guys Fish A Bait Ball?
Hey guys, I was in a little cove yesterday. Water was muddy, about 1 ft visibility, temp was about 70. I had 2 good bait balls come up and each was obviously under attack. I started by throwing a spinnerbait through it and under it but no luck. I tried several baits but could not get bit. WHat do you guys do when you see a bait ball?

I've been down on Tom-a-Lex the last couple years, but it may be that I am just doing a bad job of fishing. 10 years ago I caught plenty of fish. I got into golfing and pretty much stopped fishing. I would hit it a couple times a year and decided the lake was dead, but maybe I just wasn't doing very good. It is so close to me that I am going to fish it hard this year and decide if it is any good or not. I would think it would be great for Kayak. Not too big, but not too small

Sunglasses That Won't Fog?
Wow! I cannot imagine wearing that all day. I'll just stick to sunscreen. It would be nice in the winter though. I learn something every day!

How Many Times Have You Taken A Hook To The Body
I can't believe you started this thread this week. Tuesday my wife and I went fishing. After about 20 min I got a snag at the shore and we went in to get it. While we were there sort of anchored, I changed some lures and put on a crankbait. I decided to throw it out one time and since I was in the shore I moved towards the back of the boat where my wife was sitting so i would not hit any branches. I carefully assessed my launch angle and went for it. As you have already guessed, I launched it right in to the top of her head. luckily I only sank one hook from each treble into her head. There was so much hair I could not see so I took pliers and took the hooks out the way they went in. Some will say I should have cut the hook and pushed the hooks forward to avoid backing out the barbs but it was very painful and I did not waste any time. She was a trooper. She was crying but she sat still while I did my surgery.

Piedmont Nc
Hey guys, I live in Welcome NC, just south of Winston-Salem. My big lakes are High Rock and Badin. I fish Tom-a-lex which is 15 minutes from my house. I also fish a private pond in Lewisville. How many out there live near me? Tom-a-lex was very full and very muddy Tuesday. Even though it last rained on Thursday April 4! I was really surprised. The private pond was also very muddy this weekend. Caught a few crappie in Tom-a-lex. Tuesday was 80+ and even though it was 2 in the afternoon, there were several boats there. I wanted to fish the creeks but they all had boats in them. I got on a flat off the main lake can caught the crappie on a spinner. I have caught some bass on that spinner which is why I was fishing it. Id like to get down to Badin this weekend. I have not been there in years but I am kind of tired of HR. Want to find some cleaner water. If anyone fishes Badin and has any suggestions, let me know. later friends.

Wierd Bass Behaviour
It may seem that way but its not. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/bass-fishing-fish-biology.html a bass has a memory of around 15 minutes. You can catch them over and over with the same bait in the same place.

Which Clear First?
Sorry, I used Farm Pond generically, it is not REALLY on a farm. But I'll just have to do some research so I can figure out which way to go. We are looking at rain again this Thursday, if it does, I'll hit the lake on Sunday and see how bad it is. of course, High Rock is always dirty, so ......

Where Does Your Lake Rank? Mine Is.....
I wonder how old that list is. I am surprised that High Rock in NC is that high. It used to be an awesome bass lake but I think it is down the last few years. But I don't know that for a fact.

Weening Off Senkos
I have a feeling you are messing with us Why would you get away from what works? its like having a hot shooter on a basketball team and the coach says, "we need to get the ball down low". Do whatever you want, of course, but the only time I switch from a Senko is when it ain't working. I almost never use Jerkbaits because I never catch anything with them. I'm too old to quit what works just to test myself. WHen fishing is just to easy, I go golfing. ha

Any Lakes In North Carolina To Catch And Eat Bass?
That is either a mistake or someone trying to keep more people from fishing High Rock. In 2001 an eagle was found dead and tested and it had high mercury levels. The water in High Rock was tested thoroughly and it was found to be completley within health standards. If there was a risk it would be posted clearly at ever access point. High Rock is safe as well as the rest of NC lakes. My advice would be that if you want to keep some bass to eat, it is perfectly safe. If you catch a bass over 7 pounds, please take a bunch of pics, weigh it and put it back. The big girls have the genes to produce more giant bass. If you have pics and weight/length measurements, you can get a replica made for the wall. Eat the little guys. Besides, most people agree that Crappie and Bream/bluegill taste better anyway. And HR has plenty of big catfish as well.

Which Clear First?
It rained pretty good here on Thursday. I chose to fish a Farm Pond on Sunday thinking that it might clear up quicker than the lake. It was really muddy. Does anyone have an opinion on this? I have to admit that the real reason i went to the pond was that a couple weeks ago i hooked a monster and did not land it. Been dying to go back ever since

Crankbait Box Help
Man, I never use CBs either. I cannot get them to run straight. No matter how much I tune them, they still run sideways. I like Rat-l-traps but that is about it. BTW, Bassresource has a video about how to keep your CBs organized. WHen you open the package, take a fine point Sharpie and write on the bottom what the swim depth is. That way you won't be trying to read that itty-bitty writing on the bill

Bucket Fishermen
For some reason, I cannot get to the BassResource.com videos. If you go there, you will see a great presentation by a guy who is a fish pond professional. People all over the country hire him to repair their ponds and lakes. Many times, he tells them to harvest the lake. Too much C&R going on out there. People complain about small stunted fish. Well, sometimes there are too many fish. Even too many bluegill who will eat bass eggs as fast as a bass will eat bass eggs. If they are obeying the rules, mind your own business. if they are not, feel free to stick your nose in there. BTW, he tells a humorous story of having an intern who gets all upset because to him it was just accepted FACT that C&R is the proper way manage a fishery. Well, anything can be taken too far. And one more thing, a bucket of fish will not hurt any lake. Those old timers catching garbage cans full might but not a 5 gal bucket.

New Here & Simply Want To Catch A Hawg
I recently started fishing a farm pond. I fished ponds as a kid but it had been a long time since I had been on small water and i was doing Spinnerbaits and jigs and all the regular stuff. I decided to catch a few bluegills just for fun and caught a monster LM on a rooster tail. Don't be afraid to go small on ponds. Rooster tails and Mepps spinners have always been good for me on small water. I have not been back but when I do, I'll be finesse fishing for the big girls.

Carolina Rig Baits
Joey, first of all, I hate your avatar. Very creepy to me. ha Be sure that when you use a carolina rig that you keep your finger on the line. You really need to be as sensitive as possible. if you are using a pretty heavy weight and the lure is behind the weight, it is very hard to detect the bite. I hold the line on any lure that is sitting in the water. Worms, jigs, even jerkbaits. But especially Carolina rigs. Also, have you seen the video on Mojo rigs? I watched it the other day and i am looking forward to using it. It is like a finesse c-rig and I bet it works great. Can't wait to try it myself.
