  1. Get the HD. Also welcome to the best baitcaster currently in production.😎
  2. MH is fine, but i would not want a fast tip. I've used the Megabass Triza StymPalides, which Megabass considers as a Heavy action rod (which i certainly wouldn't agree. way more of a MH rod than a H one) with a moderate fast taper, and really really loved it for jerkbaits. Just make sure the handle isn't long or its just annoying to work a jerkbait with a long handle.
  3. I think that the only reason the zero adjuster (outside of marketing) was invented was because its much easier to produce than the older cast control caps they used to have, which were clicking and looked awesome. Nothing but a massive downgrade to me.
  4. I mean, i would suggest an SLP, RCS or a Studio Composite carbon handle in 90mm, but that's expensive, and not everyone will spend $100+ on a handle alone. That's what i have on my at least. Aluminum and brass isn't much of a difference with these new gear sets from Daiwa. As a matter of fact, i have heard and seen much more buzzy brass sets in the USDM zillion than the Japanese version.
  5. The HD is worth it for the looks alone. But for performance, i assume they're the same. With that handle and knobs, the HD is gonna be better for heavy cover, but then again, that can easily be replaced on the standard Zillion.
  6. Been using the Ship-0 and ACE-2 for like 10 years.
  7. I primarily use braid for both, but with a fluoro leader, and prefer MH rods with a moderate fast taper.
  8. Alphas and Zillion are the two killer reels to buy from Japan. Nothing beats these for their current price, and i'd argue nothing is even close. Even tho the Alphas is not a finness reel, i wouldn't use it to flip, so if you need it for lighter stuff like jerkbaits, etc, its a good option, and if you need it for deep cranks, fishing in the grass, etc, the Zillion is perfect for that.
  9. The 2020 Met frame is great, but i personally couldn't care less about DC itself. All it does is add weight to the spool because of the magnets. The DC is cool when you first get it, but after some months of use, the cool factor is completely gone and between the first conquest 200dc, conquest 50dc, 2015 met dc, met mg dc, calais dc and the 2017 scorpion dc that i've had, i am not seeing anything close to "dc outcasts everything, and is the best at fishing in the wind". I would personally get the Zillion just so you understand why its the most popular mid range reel that is even sabotaging the higher end from daiwa and shimano.
  10. I use the 832 ranging from 8 to 60lb. That is it. Sufix better never discontinue this line.
  11. I'd argue that this is the best baitcaster shimano makes when you take the price to performance (JDM prices) into considration. Its the Shimano's Zillion. And if they could make it in sub 6.5oz, and stopped using their garbage micro module gearing, it'd be as good as the Zillion.
  12. Order these shims in 4x6x0.5mm, put a stack of them, and you'll be fine. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006306015607.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.64.10a91802c5pCKU edit: ah you're missing the center piece. Gotta contact Gomexus, its the only way.
  13. If you haven't worked on a baitcaster, no, not easy, you have to disasseble the whole thing.
  14. The thumb bar is like $5 on PLAT. I'd replace it.
  15. I primarily do my fishing from the bank, going to spots on my mountain bike, and since the Megabass Triza line came out a few years ago, i am all about these 3-5pc rods now. I am indeed looking at the Legit Design ones as well. I got the 7' MH version of the Black Label, and considering its length and power, they're just 4.4oz, which is kinda very good for a multi piece rod. Will try this one out until the end of the season, and if i don't like it (which i doubt would happen), i might grab a Legit Design one.
  16. Not hearing much about these models in NA, but they seem to be very popular in Japan because from what i hear, they're very universal rods that can cover a bunch of different presentations. Got a 5pc model a few days ago (still waiting for it to arrive), and was wondering if any of you have one, and how do they perform.
  17. Always preferred the og steez and the og alphas for jerkbaits, and that for the longest time, but now i personally consider the aldebaran mgl to be the best for the job because of how the reel palms and how light it is. Of course a 21 zillion will be great, but between the two i'd go with the Alde.
  18. If you send it in, it will be expensive to clean all your reels. Absolutely worth learning to do it yourself, it really is not complicated at all, especially older reels like the og steez, og alphas, og zillion, pixy, etc. Those reels were so simple and well built.
  19. Issues with cheapo reels are not issues. They're features.
  20. Just grab an OG Alphas, they usually come with 5.8 ratio and are excellent reels.
  21. If you're thereeltest, casting distance is the only thing that matters on a fishing reel, yea😏
  22. You do pay customs in Canada. Its better to use standard tracked shipping and not fedex/dhl/ups cuz they'll charge you way more.
  23. Outcasting is not being a better reel. Daiwa has a ton of ultra long casting spools, and if your buddy is using the stock SV spools in his daiwas, of course it will lose in the casting distance. These spools were never designed for longest possible casting distance, but at the same time, Daiwa is the one brand that is not missing the ultra long casting spools eighter, you just need to know what they are, and if they're compatible with your reel. I don't use Lews reels, but i have used plenty of abus. Nothing comes close to daiwa/shimano. Of course, that's my opinion.
  24. $200 is enough to get a zillion, which is amazing. You try a zillion, and doyo becomes a pepper grinder in comparison.
  25. Nothing from Doyo comes close to shimano/daiwa. If the yen was high, the reason to get doyo is because they're cheaper, but now, there's no reason at all. If the capacity is an issue, that's a valid reason, but it being tiny doesn't mean that its a fragile reel for smaller lures.
