  1. Depends on the day. If they're on beds and I'm sight fishing, I hate it. If it's blowing too hard to go out, definitely hate it. But most days a little wind tends to help the bite. Generally speaking, I love wind to a certain point.
  2. Braided line and super glue won't be pretty but they work. Whip knot and coat it in super glue once it's done. Like @TnRiver46 said, clear epoxy will be prettier, but is more work and takes longer to dry.
  3. Last time I did a big cull the wife posted some stuff on some Facebook page she's a part of for people to give things away for free. Next day I see a post in a different Facebook page for local bass fishing from a guy who just caught his PB on a pack of plastics some nice lady gave him for free the day before. They were my old SK Senkos I didn't have confidence in that he caught a 6+ with. I haven't given away a bait since.
  4. Maybe it's time for me to try and submit again. I was told by a rep I needed a receipt and heard similar stories echoed all over the place. Perhaps they got enough backlash to revisit that policy.

Thought it was funny that he went back the next day to get them, but then they showed a clip of Fothergill losing one over the side and he didn't even bother trying for it as he watched is slowly sink to the bottom... guess a classic win means you get those replaced pretty easily. Did it pay off? I didn't catch this part of the coverage.
  6. I'm an EWG user 99% of the time. Only time I go to a straight shank is around the spawn if I'm blind bed fishing and feel like I'm missing fish because they're picking it up to move it off a bed but not taking it in their mouth fully. Otherwise, it's not worth the increased snags I get when the hook point works through the plastic. Mustad KVD Grip Pin is my go to EWG, standard for casting gear and fine wire for spinning gear.
  7. Wish I could say the same
  8. Been told you have to provide a receipt of the original purchase to get them replaced now. I have 3 or 4 pairs sitting around broken because who keeps receipts from 10+ years ago?
  9. Costa ruined my faith in "Lifetime" warranties

I didn't see it, but probably Dawn dish soap. It helps clear the pollen and junk off the water. Reminds me I need to put my super soaker in the boat tonight...
  11. It would 100% wreck my confidence too
  12. Yes. The back support of my right bunk broke, so it was about 3" lower then the left. Every time I loaded the boat, it would slide to the low side as I pulled the trailer out of the water. I got the boat in position and tied a loop around the guide pole and the cleat on the high side, so that as I pulled up, there was something to resist it sliding to the low side. Once about half the boat was out of the water, there was enough weight and friction to hold it in place while I pulled it all the way out. What others have said about not backing in as deeply is also great advice. I find getting water over the back 1/3 to 1/2 is the sweet spot for loading.
  13. Side rails on your trailer would be the biggest help. I had a bunk support break on my carolina skiff trailer last summer. Made it behave almost exactly like this where it would slide off to one side. That trailer has PVC guide poles, so I got the trailer a bit deeper than usual and tied the high side to the guide pole on that side so it wouldn't drift over as much as I was pulling up. You could try doing something similar and tying to a guide pole/rail or the trailer itself.
  14. My logic is that I'm looking for an area with the highest population of fish. I know my search bait won't get every fish to bite- no bait will. But it should illicit a strike from some of those fish. So I'm hoping a couple dumb fish will show themselves so I can slow down and pick that area apart with other baits. Personally, I tend to mix in a few techniques to keep them honest when I'm trying to locate fish.
  15. Seems like the J hooks are doing better than the circle hooks, but maybe not hooking as many as traditional trebles. Fair assessment? I was thinking about this thread while I tried to get 3 sets of trebles out of a fish yesterday.
  16. No issues with it getting hung up in the grass more or the weight and worm separating when you're swimming it?
  17. I'm surprised it works well with the weight unpegged. I fish the standard UV Speed Worm and fish it all the ways you do plus a lot of just plain swimming it, but always pegged or ideally, a screw-in worm weight. I may have to try it unpegged.
  18. Seems to me like the MagDraft is more temperamental with speed. It has a small window where it runs right, but it's very easy to reel it too fast. I have an 8" Magdraft I paid $25 for and can't get to swim correctly to save my life.
  19. Does that mean you aren't swimming it much? More pitching, flipping, and dragging?

Lithium battery companies could find a new niche in those motorized scooters for seniors.
  21. Omnia has 25% off bulk spools and I'll need to re-line a rod or 6 this season. It would have been irresponsible NOT to buy 1000 yard spool of 10 lb InvisX; 600 yard spools of 12 and 15 lb InvisX, and 660 yard spools of 18 and 20 lb Sniper, right?? And you have to buy a few MegaBass SV3s when you realize Omnia has them for pretty much the same price as the Booyah Coverts, right? And if you don't try a spool of the new Almight sinking braid, you're not really a basshead, right?
  22. Do it. The best time to go, is whenever you can.
  23. Don't forget to limit the size of the spoons people can bring to eat their lunch on the water. Wouldn't want the big spoons making people get fat.
  24. Something is wrong with the data or way you're interpreting the data if it says that only 1 of every 336 people will be involved in a car crash at any point in their life.
  25. I think it's important to be mindful of the statistics here. Yes, its a tragedy that 3 folks lost their lives and yes it's a major headline right now. But in the grand scheme of things, that number is minute compared to the million other ways you can die. A quick google says MLF gets 15,000 unique competitors a year and there's 50,000 tournaments a year in this country. So let's assume on the low end, there's 100,000 people fishing in tournaments a year. 3 deaths amongst that population works out to 1 in 33,333. Divide that by the 60 years someone may fish competitively (again being super conservative here) and you're at 1 in 555.5 That's WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY less likely than any of these things: Heart Disease: 1 in 6 Cancer: 1 in 7 Unintentional Injuries: 1 in 91 Stroke: 1 in 95 Chronic Lower Respiratory Diseases: 1 in 91 Opioid Overdose: 1 in 57 Motor-vehicle crash: 1 in 95 Fall: 1 in 91 All that to say maybe nothing needs to be done. Freak accidents will happen and that's unfortunate. But let's not everyone run out to buy bubbles to live in.
