  1. Last couple times out I seem to be hooking a lot of fish in the gut (I'd say 4-6 over two trips). It's started happening a lot more since I switched to Senko-style plastics. Am I setting the hook too late or something? I've tried to be more patient since I was yanking it out of their mouths before, but I'd almost rather not catch a fish than gut hook one. I am planning to buy some of those offset wire cutters someone posted (LBH maybe?) but until then, any tips to avoid them in the first place?
  2. A bass that size should never break 15lb test line, but I'd guess 3.5-5lbs
  3. Wish I was in a position to just buy a boat on a whim. ;D But welcome to the forum!
  4. Just sent my first order in. I got several different types and colors that I've never used before and of course a decal to put on my tackle box for a little advertising. ;D I'd read the praises, but I didn't realize how great your prices were, when I run out of my current stock of worms I'm definately going to start ordering my plastics from you.
  5. I saw this garbage on an infomercial at like 3AM one night ;D
  6. Sounds like a good reason to finally get around to making my first *** order, should be within the week.
  7. Sounds like you found your honey hole, congrats and nice fish!
  8. When I click the advertisers link only the Cabela's link comes up... where'd the BPS one go? I use them so I can get my bonus points.
  9. A frog would probably be perfect
  10. They last longer than Senkos for me, but even if they don't it's only like $3.50-$4 for a 20 pack.
  11. I stopped by Walmart to pick up some worms tonight (tackle shop was closed for some reason) and I found these Kinami Baits Flash worms that had the Gary Yamamoto logo on them and they look and feel identical to an actual Yamasenko. Are they the same thing under a different name? If anything they seemed to be a little more durable than my regular Senkos.
  12. I caught a 5lb channel cat tonight (on a worm) about 6-12 inches under the top in 15ft of water. I thought I had a monster bass until I got it to the boat
  13. I've heard of it, I think in the case I saw the guy made some kind of homemade stomach pump, don't remember how though.

  15. Didn't know about those, but we tried just about everything we could think of to get it out. Would those techniques work with a treble hook though? We tried something similar to one of those pics but the other parts of the treble hook would start stabbing him in a different part of the finger ;D
  16. 6lb 2oz (pic in my avatar), caught on a watermelon seed Zoom trick worm
  17. Went fishing today with my buddy and all was normal, a bit slow but the bite was just starting to pick up when my buddy decided to go with his biggest confidence bait, a Rat-L-Trap. Second or third cast he gets his first bass in an hour and a half. It's barely hooked on the outside of the gill plate and in the mouth. He got it out of the gill plate and was going for the one in it's mouth when it thrashed pretty strong and BAM, the free treble hook is in his finger, just barely. He was trying to get it out when the fish thrashed twice again and it got buried in way past the barb and on the last thrash the fish managed to spit the hook and jump back into the water in one motion and I hear the longest, loudest string of cuss words I've ever heard. ;D Long story short, this is how it came out-- And the fishing trip was over and he spent hour in the emergency room. The fish definately came out on top today... but at least now he'll start listening to me about using pliers. ;D
  18. Definately holds true in GA, a couple weeks ago a friend of mine caught a 10lb'er in a farm pond with cows walking in it, so me and some other friends went the very next day and one of my friends caught an 8lb 6oz bass about 20 yards away from some cows.
  19. Dunno if you want to count them or not but there is a hybrid bream (bluegill) here in GA that has broken the world record and get up to 5lbs. http://www.kens-fishfarm.com/world-records/Default.asp
  20. Spinnerbaits are something I've had in my tackle box but never had the confidence to use. I want to start using them more and hopefully turn them into a bait I at least have a little confidence in. Questions: 1. What kind of knot should I be using? Currently I use a Palomar knot since it's the only real knot I know how to tie. ;D 2. I just got some trailer hooks on my last trip to the tackle shop. I saw on tv where they were using them with nothing on them and I've also seen them with soft plastics on the trailer hook. Should I get a specific kind of plastic to do this or could I use something I already have (or cut up something I already have, use a piece of Senko that broke in half, etc)? 3. I've heard chartruese is the way to go with spinnerbaits, is that true? I know there's a whole thing with the type of blades you should use but seeing as I don't have any to switch out with the ones that came on the ones I have, I'll save that until I get the basics down.
  21. I fished with Senkos for the first time today and I felt like I missed a lot of hooksets I would normally make on my Zoom trick worms. I don't know if it's because they're not as big around and I wasn't used to the hook being so deep in the Senko or what, but I understand what you're saying. Tomorrow I'm definately going to try Tex-posing my Senkos, although I'm kinda afraid since they're so fragile to begin with, I'd think I will lose a lot more and getting more isn't as easy for me as it is to get trick worms.
  22. I've always had a general idea of how to fish since I learned as a kid, but I didnt do much fishing up through high school. My first year of college I got back into bass fishing with a buddy of mine who isn't exactly an expert but pointed me in the right direction. Then I found this site, read it for a while, eventually registered, and even later started posting. I've learned TONS from BassResource and I think I've caught a lot of fish I wouldn't have if I hadn't found this site and learned what I have. Nowhere to go but up.
  23. What are the approximate prices for having a replica made compared to getting a fish mounted? My friend took an 8lb+ bass to the taxidermist a few weeks ago and the cheapest place he found in town was $175. I would guess replicas are significantly more expensive?
  24. That is an AMAZING fish Chris! I love the release pictures too.
  25. My grandparents' pond at their house. Don't know exact sizes but I'd guess it's maybe a few acres. I've still yet to get out on a proper lake.
