I Know I Did The Right Thing As A Co-Angler
As some of the other comments have stated, who would EVER fish with this guy again. No, there is no proof, except the fact that he admitted to "jokingly" asking to purchase fish. Come On, if I were Nate and my carreer, name, and guide career were on the line and I thought I were innocent I would be kicking, screaming and yelling on every podium I could find to clear my name. The fact that he only made a half hearted excuse/apology condemns him IMO. A dark day for Bass fishing for sure.

Patoka Lake, Indiana
You don't host 60+ tournaments a year where there are NO fish.......

Patoka Lake, Indiana
Both Monroe and Brookville are excellent lakes as well. Brookville has a very strong SM population. I have only fished Brookville once this summer and had decent success around rip rap for smallies. Havent fished Monroe Dont get me wrong, Patoka is still a great fishery. You definately have the opportunity to catch 5-6lb fish. 15 years ago I remember haveing 75-100 fish days on Patoka but most of the fish were in the 12-15in range. Now, with the slot limits that have been in place for years there is a good number of 5lb+ fish. Crappie fishing is excellent at Patoka. It is still one of my favorite lakes to fish as there is an abundance of fishable cover.

Thoughts On A .410 For A Deer Round?
All good points. I have informed him that he can either use the muzzleloader or the 20ga. It just isn't a viable enough caliber for deer. Although many deer, I am sure, have fallen to this caliber I dont feel safe with him shooting it. Especially for his first deer. Part of the thrill of the first one is a good clean kill and his chances of speedy recovery and humane kill are seriously deminished with this round.

Thoughts On A .410 For A Deer Round?
Actually, we will be hunting in lower Indiana which is shotgun only. I agree Birddog, although he is an excellent shot (he can bust 90 out of 100 birds from the 18 trap) I completely agree with you. He has access to use muzzleloader, 20ga, or 12ga. I think he is just more confident shooting the .410 because of the lower recoil. Maybe its a first gun, first deer thing too.

24 Volt Charging
I just switched to a 3 bank charger to cover all of my batteries. However, just running your motor should keep your cranking battery charged. I was previously using a 2 bank and they were both on my 2 trolling motor batteries. I never had any issues with my cranking battery not being charged. Cranking battery lasted 3.5 years with moderate use and never didnt crank when asked. I think you will be fine just using the 2 banks for each trolling motor battery.

Thoughts On A .410 For A Deer Round?
My son is 12. He wants to go deer hunting this year and he wants to use his .410. None of his shots would be more than 50 yards and his single shot .410 is DBA shooting slugs out to 50 yards. What are your thoughts on this caliber as a sub 50 yard deer gun? Personally, I don't think it is a large enough caliber to be effective but I know a large number of people who have taken whitetails with it.

Yamaha Motor (Rpm's)
you may have a blockage in the fuel line or jets. Or, you may need to think about cleaning the carbs. I would start simple and run a can of seafoam through the motor to see if that makes a difference. Then I would start to look at the more detailed issues like foulded carbs etc.

Chest Freezer Purchase
The best advice I can give you is "whichever one you are thinking of buying, get the bigger model" Much like an outboard, you will NEVER complain about getting the bigger one......

May Have A Trim Problem Here...
sounds like a dead battery. Mine did the same thing a few weeks ago. It also jumped when I tried to lower the motor. Charged the battery and all was fine.

Going To Look At This Boat Tomorrow
Wow! that really surprises me. I would not have thought it would be listed over 10K. Hmmm, if it is really in That good of condition I would try to talk him down as low as possible but at least you know a boundary to stick to. I would offer 10k if all checks out. You can always go up. Good Luck and post some pics if you can

I dont think that boat is worth more than 10k. NADA value. I could be wrong but I have a 96 and I don't think I could get more than 7k for it and it is like new... just my .02

Here is a pic of my wifes PB. Caught in July at Patoka lake IN. She won't let me live it down either.

Do You Fish With Your Significant Other?
My wife loves to fish. She actually has the 2011 boat record. So far. A 6.75lber caught on a senko. The funny thing is she prefers fishing with a BPS tourney baitcaster and a Zebco 33 spincast. She's outfished me so I can't poke fun at her. However, she fishes hard for 45 minutes and then catches some rays for a bit.
