man made brush piles
Nah dont waste nice boxes like those on christmas trees. That would be a lazy way out. Plus christmas trees are not great bass structure and simply will not hold big bass because they cannot fit in it. Search along the bank or in forests along your lake. Look for willow branches or go somewhere else and get branches of fruit trees. They rot slowly and will be their a while.

Deep or Shallow?
It depends. If there is an inflowing stream or a spring anywhere there is going to be a lot of fish there. Also, it depend on where you live. If you live far enough north then the bass may never go deep in the summer.

When is it time to get the boat out?
The big lake and the Chicago river are ok for bass but there are better choices out there. The mazonia chain of lakes are great as well as fox chain of lakes. If you want to drive a little less try all the lakes and ponds in the cook and will county forest preserve.

Best swimbaits under 1 oz.?
o yeah and i always fish my swimbaits on heavy fluoro
-
Best swimbaits under 1 oz.?
Yeah I would choose a soft plastic swimbait that is not rigged with a hook, like the bass magic or basstrix if you want to spend a little more money. That way, you can get a weighted hook and vary the weight to fit your liking
-
Newbie with a question
soft plastics like craws tubes and flukes work well as well as crankbaits and topwaters, in fact pretty much any thing will work if used during the appropriate time of year and presented properly

Business question....marketing a new lure.
I also have kind of a prototype lure, two of them actually. They are nothing huge, more of an improvement on another lure, and I still have a lot of refining to do. If I give my idea to a smaller company like Karu and they like it, what will I get?
-
Best quickest knot(s)?
Another vote for palomer. Of course another option is if you want to change lures in a hurry, like a different one every few casts, use a small snap swivel. they dont hurt the action of certain lures, like crankbaits.
-
How far should I be able to cast?
Yeah probably around 30 yards but it depends on factors like wind, and if their is any accuracy needed.

Roland Martin
Rolands wife lived in a town called Momence that is about 30 minutes from my house. I have met her a couple of times when I go to a meeting or convention type thing that Roland hosts. He hosts a lot in my area since his wife lived in the area. I know she can be annoying but she is actually a very nice person in real life.
