  1. I put one on as the trailer hook for a bone colored whopper plopper last week and they were hitting it for a while.
  2. The only issue I've had with norman speed clips is that I have a hard time squeezing them when my fingers are wet/sweaty. I use snaps (either speed clips or the VMC crankbait clips) on everything except texas rigged and chatterbaits.
  3. My preference for chatterbaits is the Dobyns 736CBG with straight braid. Ill also toss them with my Evergreen combat sticks. For Frogs I use the Dobyns Frenzy 735C, love it. Top waters Ill use my Kaden 610-4CB or i'll use my Sierra 683C or Sierra 704C depending on if im on my boat or the bank and if im tossing around docks or open water.
  4. All of my baitcasters have the handles on the right, all of my spinning reels have the handle on the right. Its just a natural movement for me and i don't have to switch up muscle memory depending on what rod setup im using.
  5. Appreciate the feedback guys. I'm always telling people - how can you think a piece of string the size of a hair or piece of weed will scare fish away but the giant metal hooks and weight wont, and here I am now asking the same question🤣 That's some major self doubt happening🤣
  6. Im going to try that this weekend. I currently have high vis yellow on my senko with a fluro leader rods, but id rather have straight braid.
  7. I fish mostly NTX lakes that have about 2-5ft visibility and I normally use straight black braid for chatterbaits and jigs. I do use bright yellow/Green braid to a 5ft Fluoro leader for Tx rigged Senkos/Worms/Creatures. Looking to get opinions on keeping with Black vs going to brown or moss green colors. What are you favorite colors to use
  8. Look at the Dobyns Frenzy 735C from DSG. They are $70 with full cork handles. Worth every penny. I think they only have 4 Frenzy Models so its pretty limited. But I have two of the Fenzy735's. One is a dedicated Frog rod and the other I use as a loaner, Truck, Camping rod.
  9. I have over 20 Dobyns rods- mostly Champions, Kadens and Sierras. The rods are as good as they ever were, the customer service has been flushed down the toilet and left a sticky ring around the sides. I have ordered 6 in the past 4 or so months and they changed over from a thick shipping tube and Fed-Ex to a Wrapping paper thin tube and shipping via USPS. My last rod was ordered on 6/16 and I didn't get it until 7/2. Keep in mind the GSM warehouse is less than 3 miles from my office but they do no allow local pickup. During that waiting period I ordered two Evergreen Combat sticks and a St.Croix rod. All were recvd within 3 days of ordering them. I used to have a 40% discount but they just discontinued it so I will most likely be looking at other Rods in the future. I dont mind paying a premium price but I also expect Premium customer service with that price.
  10. I run straight 30lb braid with the 736CB Glass and (3/8,1/2,3/4) chatterbaits. The rod has enough flex to act as a "shock absorber" for the braid. Never had an issue with it and you can feel every tic and thump on braid.
  11. JEEEZUSS 183 East Bound SUUUUUUCKS. West bound is just as bad going through NRH.
  12. Look at the Dobyns Frenzy 735C Sold at DSG. I have one for my dedicated frog rod and Love it. Its a Full Cork handle for $79.99 but goes on sale for $69 every other month or so and they have free shipping. Gary Dobyns has said many times that he cant believe they were able to make that rod at that price point.
  13. I dont have a single chatter bait that has any paint left on the bottom😆
  14. Dobyns Champion XP 736CB-Glass with 30lb straight braid. AWESOME setup!
  15. Maybe in crystal clear water but i cant imagine it being an issue with black in stained waters. I use Black braid on my bladed jig rod.
  16. I have 1 rod dedicated to 3/8-3/4oz chatterbaits and Spinnerbaits... A Dobyns Champion XP 736CB Glass pared with a Shimano Scorpion DC or Curado M depending on conditions.
  17. I have the Kaden 714C Travel rod and I love it. I actually use it as a normal everyday rod as well. Put some Burts Bees chapstick (beeswax) on the male ends of the Ferrule connections and they wont get stuck together. The travel case is well put together and sturdy. I took mine up to Lake Minnewanka in Banff last year.
  18. Thanks for the replies guys... Like I said, i've been using the reaction Tackle braid with no issues, but i like to try to new things every once in a while. I'll Probably just stay with what ive got unless i see a good sale somewhere.
  19. Im currently running 50lb braid from reaction tackle and havent had any issues with it when using it on my frog rod. Im looking for something that will also work well with 1/2 -1 oz jigs in mated brush/slop. Ive got a bunch or Suffix 832 that I use on other rods (10-30lb) but was looking to try something new since i need to re-spool my frog reel pretty soon. I was casting into the wind (20mph) and got the mother of all birdnests :) ended up having to cut half the reel off. I have a spool of BPS XPS that was given to me last year but ive heard bad things about it digging into the spool too easily.... TIA
  20. Honestly Id Probably leave the Foregrip as is. I would only be replacing the rear section(s)
  21. How hard is it, or is it even possible to remove the Foam/EVA style grip from a rod and replace it with Cork? I have a Couple of Dobyns Colts and Mavericks that I use as Truck rods or loaners and I prefer the feel of cork. I know they will never be like my Champions XP's but I cant stand the feeling of the foam stuff when it gets wet. TIA
  22. Not sure which lakes you fish at but it worked well on N.TX lakes.
  23. I bought 15lb. I just got it last weekend but I've been using it for Weightless TX Rigged Senko's, Chatterbaits, and Spinnerbaits. I haven't tried it for topwater yet. It literally says Mono on the box. Its a Hybrid line. Too many people are stuck on the "flouro or die" bandwagon.
  24. Anyone used this before? I bought a spool because it was on sale and so far I'm liking it better than any fluorocarbon that i normally use. Its the best of both worlds. Almost invisible underwater, SINKS, has less stretch than Mono but only a tiny bit more than Flouro. Best of all its a lot cheaper than Flouro which is nice for people like me who tend to change out lines often. Think i paid $10 for 300yards on Amazon. (for some reason its cheaper on amazon than from KastKings website)
  25. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement spool for a Abu Garcia Revo5 X? Mine is now a home for minnows and crawfish. It doesn't look like they sell them on Abu's website. I did send an email but have heard nothing back from them after a week.
