  1. aww come on, now your confusing me ;D j/k
  2. Who said I was using the baitcaster? Haha. I still have a lot to learn with that thing. I tried skipping with it and it ROCKED me hard. I'm determined to get it down before the end of the summer though.
  3. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/flipping_pitching_fishing.html I hope this helps ado. Thanks but I know how to flip/pitch. Trevor was nice enough to teach me. My question was is skipping considered a quiet entry technique. Not sure how much noise it makes as it skips across the top of the water.
  4. I believe okrod is looking for local deals so he doesn't have to make an online purchase or travel far. The closest BPS or any large fishing store to us is about 45minutes away. We're limited to walmart, dick's, and sports authority.... :'( atleast I am.
  5. sports authority has a $25 off 100 in this weeks ad. Pity they don't have much of a selection. I've heard pretty good things about the berkely lightning rods and they're almost half your limit at around 40 bucks. I'll be going to greentop this weekend to get a new rod myself. You're welcome to tag along for the long drive. ;D
  6. Thanks for the info Dan. Idea to go this weekend is still a fart in the wind but if I do I'll be sure to let you guys know how I did. Is skipping considered a quiet entry technique?
  7. Nice catch I'm in the same boat as you with the subwalk. It seemed like a good investment when the bait monkey hit me. When are we going to fish together again?
  8. Chai, when I figure out when I want to go I'll probably have a seat open if you're up for it we can try and figure this lake out together. I'll shoot you a PM when I decide to go. I'm leaning toward saturday morning. Thanks for the info fellers
  9. Any one know if there is a spot where i can launch a kayak? Has anyone had any luck here lately? It's been awhile since i've been out there but have been meaning to. Thanks for any info you can give me!
  10. Occoquan can be a tough body of water to fish. You did better today on a "tough" day than i've ever done so my hat goes off to you. I've only been out there once this year and it was tough for me. We didn't put together a pattern till it was almost too late. Hooked up with quite a few that related to overhangs near shore off watermelon/cream laminate senkos t-rigged. I also hooked into something with a lot of power at the concrete structure near the fountain head launch area. It doubled over my rod . My buddy just sat there with his jaw dropped as it jerked my rod tip down 2 more times and then broke off :'( I threw my lake fork swim shads into the balls of shad but that didn't seem to get any attention either. Am i mistaken to think that you need a gas motor to get to the "good" fishing locations? I've always felt that the fishing is better up river, but perhaps thats just a case of "the grass is greener on the other side of the fence".
  11. NICE! sounded like you had a lot of fun. You'll get him next time! Always great to get out on the water with someone who's familiar with the place.
  12. Royal is another lake I'm hoping to fish with my kayak before the end of the summer. Hopefully I'll have as much luck. Biggest I've pulled out of there was around 3 lbs during the early spring. Congrats on the great day of fishing.
  13. I'm going to have to disagree with Accotink. There's bass in there, you just have to know what to use and where to look! (Not that I do)
  14. When I was at fountainhead, friday, I saw the same thing. LOTS of shad schools. I chased the schools for a good amount of time throwing my only crank bait, a rapala that was in blue gill pattern, and had no luck. I tried the outside of the school, straight through it, but nothing got anything. I then switched to a magic shad and tried that. Tried to imitate a dying shad in the school but that didn't get any takers either . I did hook onto something that doubled over my rod at the concrete wall. I managed to skip it into the first "cave" quietly and BAM! my rod tip went down hard, bounced twice then snap :'( My buddy and I had a lot of luck off texas rigged senkos.
  15. That would be google maps. : Everyone knows something someone else won't. There's no real go to guy. -Flippin4it knows quite a few ponds and has fished the area for awhile. -Jcrzy and rondef are hardcore pond hunters so they might be able to help you as well. -Sam, if you're fishin richmond area. But your best bet is using google maps to find your own spots ;D What part of springfield are you from? I'm pretty close to the mall.
  16. Rage Tail chunks! AWESOME ACTION! Haven't caught a fish off one yet but d**n does it look good in the water.
  17. I guess I should have clarified with the burning. One method was to take a match, light it, blow it out then touch the bugger. Again, I have a lot of "country" friends and i think one suggestion even involved urine....
  18. Where's the challenge in that? :
  19. Sounds like i'm adding cotton balls and soap to my tacklebox, much cleaner than putting some vaseline in my hair or burning my hair offf tryin to get to the tick with a lighter.
  20. fished a few times from shore and havent had any ticks on myself BUT my fishing buddies usually find a frew on them. I play a lot of sports in the woods and use "Deep Woods" OFF! and it seems to work for me. You could always put a nice thick coat of vaseline on your body ;D Something i've always wondered was: IF you do find a tick on your body, what's the best way to remove them? I've heard of: -using a lighter to burn them off -pulling them out with tweezers -putting a dab of vaseline on them to suffocate them -just pulling them off with your fingers What works? What doesn't?
  21. Kind of off topic but I'm a hardcore user of Senkos and have been looking for good knock offs at a lower cost. Anyone know of any? I've only tried yum dingers as an alternative but find they don't feel as heavy as senkos.
  22. Are you? I was about to ask you about father's day. If you're not busy with the kids shoot me a text. Can't wait to hear how it goes out on the Rez. I've also been trying to make it out there. Should be a good day to fish, if only I didn't have work to do.
  23. I've also caught quite a few bass on Lake Manassas. I have a friend that lives off the water and this is where i got started bass fishing. The stories he tells me makes it more and more tempting to put my yak in it. Shoot, I'd be happy with just fishing the lower part of the lake and having them make the upper part near the golf course off limits! Maybe a fishermen got hit by a stray ball and sued the City! ;D That HAS to be the reason, it's the only one that makes sense!!!!!
  24. I'm up for it, my only concern is that there will not be enough participants to represent each school equally. Maybe stick a handicap in there or something or pair some schools up. I guess we won't know till we have a final list of participants.
  25. Nobody, 'cept us, want to be watching a nationally televised golf tournie with Tiger Woods preparing to swing and at the same time me shirtless in the background boating a dink.
