  1. That's exactly what's been working well for me. Skipping weightless senkos under low hanging trees, bushes, etc. close to the water has produced consistent bites (and hangups ) for me.
  2. I thought the City of Manassas won't allow ANYONE to fish this lake, even land owners. I have friends that live in that area and they've told me that land owners aren't even allowed to fish it or launch boats into it. They believe it's because of the rich folk at the golf course side don't want people fishing the lake, and since big tournies are held there the city came up with some bogus claims to close it off. This is just what i've been told and also what i've read while researching the lake. I always thought that zebra needed hard surfaces to fix themselves on. Not that i've ever been on the lake : but i thought Lake manassas is largly a lake with soft bottom . EDIT: Here's a link to a site where this guy is hating on the City's regulations on the lake. http://www.ragingelephant.com/OpenTheLake/openthelake.htm
  3. Wow knownfactor, those are alot of spots ....I'd suggest trying all of them for a bit, with the exception of the golf course unless you have permission. When are you planning to do this hunting? Would you mind company?
  4. Not sure about the heat but the crazy rain making the my fishing holes muddy as hell is killing me. I've had most my luck these few days on senkos. Crazy topwater action today for Rob and I. Fished frogs and man...the action was the best I've ever seen in my bass fishing days (1 yr ). Maybe put away the buzzbaits and try a frog out!
  5. HA, yeah. I was actually surprised at how many fish we were able to hook up on. I guess hot fish still have to eat. I have to get myself a few frogs and head back to that pond. I'll be sure to take some pictures next time.
  6. sounds like you needed a gaff or one of these offshore angler's bat from BPS
  7. the HUGE no fishing signs every 5 ft all around the whole lake.
  8. Lightning can go cloud to cloud, cloud to ground, or ground to cloud. It depends on the situation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning I'm not even going to argue this. All I'll say about this is that you'll never see a bolt originate from the ground and not from a tall object the ground. Ground to Clouds is merely directional. But hey, thats just what I believe. If my rod ever started buzzing, i'd wet my pants and FOT it home.
  9. THAT i know is false. Energy always travels from a high potential to a low potential (ground in this case).
  10. not sure if the lightning thing is true but I would never put myself in a situation where I'm on the water in those conditions. That weather was crazy! Probably the worst week of weather i've seen in this area in a long time.
  11. I'm no longer a student but I still use student discounts! Graduated GMU a few years ago.
  12. got an STX, now I want more BCer's They work alot better than the cheapo combo I got from Dick's and a hell of a lot easier to learn on as Trev pointed out to me.
  13. It's getting better! Still gotta work on my accuracy though. Don't think you'd want to mess with my lefty .
  14. Can't wait for the reports! Been meaning to get out there soon.
  15. NICE! What I wouldn't give for a 200 fish day.
  16. Nice! Sounds like you had a lot of fun. Glad to hear you weren't out there when the heavy rains and hail came down, that would have suck big time.
  17. buddies where there last week and saw a ton of anglers there, dont know if they caught anything though.
  18. Welcome back Wayne! a little off topic but how'd your trip turn out?
  19. Nice fish Allyn! I plan on hitting up fountainhead this weekend. Hopefully i have as much luck as you.
  20. I haven't been fishing out of Harpers Ferry but i have been white water rafting. I don't think the boat would be a very good idea as there are some big rocks and shallow areas. I used River Riders for the white water rafting trip and thought they're prices were reasonable. Never fished it so, no info there on that. Sorry. I did see a lot of guys wading and fly fishing though.
  21. it's a gravel ramp, people launch with trailers all the time.
  22. I only saw hourly rates posted up. I was looking for an all day rate as well.
  23. I'd like a second shot at hunting run as well. I want my rods back.

Welcome Charlie! I'm Andrew, i was on the green hobie kayak with the peddles. Sorry didn't get a chance to meet/introduce myself!
  25. Not as bitter as I was. I was fishing the same tube as Simon at one point and he was catching all the fish. I only had 1 dink off a black with orange flake tube.
