NoVA Lakes/Ponds
Call ahead to ask BPS if they have your rod. I was looking for a G.loomis and when I got there (the other BPS in arundel mills) they didn't have it :'( If you're out by stone ridge you should try out beaverdam. It's pretty good from shore, just watch out for ticks.

Warmer water made for some good fishing in VA.
HAHA, I've been tempted to do some carp fishing and try and have a 15lb+ carp pull me around a bit on the yak.

Yeah! it was awesome, probably only 2 or 3 dinks all day with a handful of blue gill too. We were out there for 8hrs and the best fishing came with the light rain. The clouds blocking out the sun and the cool rain was a welcomed relief from the heat. I need to learn to use the fish finder better as well.

HAHA sounds like a lot of fun. I had a few that were just launching out of the water. We also saw carp everywhere launching out of the water. It was amazing to see 3-4ft carp jumping straight out of the water. Reminded me of the dolphins at Sea World! We had one 2lber wrap it's line around a stringer of crappie and we thought for sure we'd lose it. Amazingly the fish stopped fighting when it was in the "School" of crappie and we were able to lip it. Crazy day of fishing! ;D It was so hot we were tempted to jump into the water but it was so warm we decided it wouldn't be worth it. Plus I've never tried to get on my boat from the water and without my life-vest i decided it would have been a bad idea. :-/

Went out fishing yesterday with some friends on our kayaks in a body of water in manassas and had a great time. The water was murky with about 2.5 ft. visibility and the temperature was from 85-89*F! Caught about 20 keepers with the biggest at 3lbs (i'll post pictures later), which was disappointing because i know this body of water holds bigger fish. We caught them off watermelon/cream laminate senkos in the morning and watermelon/red flake senkos in the afternoon when the water started to clear up some more. Rigged weightless and skipped under over hangs . I know the bigger fish were probably in deeper water but we decided to just stick with what was working. The crazy thing was these LMB put up crazy fights with the majority giving us 4 or more runs ! This was awesome for me and my 6lb test line. I was wondering if the warmer water is causing the fish to fight harder or if its just a seasonal thing. I thought the warmer the water the less oxygen the water could hold and would then lead to the fish wearing out faster. Is everyone seeing this kind of action in No. VA? Regardless, had a blast despite the blistering heat and cold orange air quality. Tight lines and stay hydrated out there!

New Kayak
Rich, I just looked up your yak on LLbeans site and I think you're right. No room to put a crate. You'll just have to get some flush mount rod holders put in behind the seat or something. I use my crate to hold everything, from water bottles and snacks to my tackle boxes and sunscreen.

New Kayak
congrats rich! any time you want to go out and need a buddy let me know. The first things i got for my yak was a milk crate and rigged a few rod holders on that. I then made a few quick release straps to strap down my rods when i was paddling. I lost two rods in hunting run cuz I whacked them with the paddle, so i'm never making that mistake again. If you want rod leashes, you'll be ablle to make one a lot cheaper than the premade ones being sold.

Comfortable wader suggestions
how long before you're pruny? : I guess you dont have to get out of your waders to go to the bathroom either. you just stay upstream of your buddies ;D

Comfortable wader suggestions
I do see myself hiking in them so those boots your suggested might be my best bet. I believe the majority of waters i'll be wading in are rocky so the high ankle support might be helpful to prevent rolling my ankles. I don't think i'll be wading when the water is colder and would prefer a material thats easier to move in as I will be doing some hiking in them. Thanks again for all your help.

Comfortable wader suggestions
Thanks for the info. Are there any waders/boots you recommend in my price range? What about the set I talked about above but in the stocking foot option?

Comfortable wader suggestions
I was in the market for some waders and was overwhelmed by the selection and variety I found. I'd like a pair thats comfortable and under $200 bucks for both the waders and boots (if not part of them). Currently at the top of my list is the Cabelas' Gold Medal Dry-Plus bootfoot chest waders. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?type=product&cmCat=Related_IPL_830478&id=0052606830982a Any suggestions, recommendations, or comments about these and other waders? P.S. Not sure where this topic would really go either.

Fishing after the rain
I had same success with this technique at Lake Accotink and it's sparked a new found interest for this body of water. Lots of over hangs there, so i'll be skipping my butt over there in the next few weeks. ;D

Fishing after the rain
