  1. got out the other day with my dad and had a pretty tough day. We finished with about 11 fish but there was no pattern i could figure out. It was just random catching and it was actually somewhat frustrating. I think i'd rather catch 4 fish all day but know why i caught them then 11 and feel like i'm just throwing randomly at water. I guess i'm just crazy that way on a good note I caught my first catfish. 1.5lbs on a 6 inch lizard carolina rigged. thought I had a good bass on the line but turned out I just caught dinner instead
  2. Have this knife as well, and I love it. It's my go to carry knife and have yet to find one that is as nice in the same price range
  3. I use mine mostly for froggin, but that's just because of the rod that I have it on. I've used it for jigs, carolina rigging, just about everything except cranking
  4. Great post. I already feel like this forum is my fishing family, and being able to get to know the mods really makes me feel more at home. Thanks Glenn and to all the people who make this the best place to go on the internet
  5. man that's really sad. I've enjoyed greatly following the exploits of the Mojo bracelet.

Just saw it yesterday. Amazing. Not just one of the top action or comic book movies I have seen but one of the best movies I have seen ever. I'm going to go back and see it again in the theatre. I can't think of any movie that I have ever wanted to go back and watch and not just wait for the DVD to come out. People also applauded at the theatre that I was at
  7. Fuzzy I know your pain. I caught my largest LM at night and didn't have a camera to take a pic with. tried to use my phone and all I got was a blob. Went out again today with my Dad and had a great day, pulled out 11 fish over all, with most in the 1 pound range, a couple of 2's and this 5.8 lber. Not the best pic, cell phone again, but this fish was a heck of a fight. doesn't look as big in the pic, but i weighed it, and swear i'm not lying. It was one fat fish
  8. I saw that Quest pole at Dick's it looked pretty nice. I went with the Northeast Outfitters clearwater IM6 baitcasting rod instead for $14 bucks on clearance. Its a great rod for the money.
  9. x2 I always go to the movies with my wife, I mean I love her and all, but the real reason is that she has a really big purse. I can fit plenty of McDonalds in that thing
  10. awesome
  11. thanks for the tip, i'm definitely going to be trying this. I just recieved my first order or ragetail craws yesterday and they look great in the water (read bathtub). I'm hoping to give them a real tryout this week. The keel weighted hook must give it a really interesting action compared to just pegging a weight at the front
  12. thanks for all the advise guys. I figured it was just a confidence thing, but because I have none in red hooks, I wanted other opinions to boost my confidence and allow me to fish effectively without worrying that I'm not getting bit because of the red.
  13. So i just received an order from bass pro that i've been waiting for and realized that I ordered 50 red hooks when i meant to order 50 regular black Gammies. I know some people love red hooks, i'm just not one of those people. What's you guys opinion on these hooks, will they hurt my fishing or not really make any difference at all.
  14. The only place i know is the boat launch. I've fished it a couple of times and only caught dinks. It is cool being able to take a small boat and fish under the highway though with the cars rumbling right overhead
  15. Got out to a nice little pond in over in New Boston yesterday. I normally bring people who are new to fishing there because I know we will hook up on at least a few fish. The lake is one of those that is full of little one pounders but I've never caught anything big there. And as usual we caught 14 or so little bass in the couple of hours that we were there. However in our last spot right in this knarley tree by buddy Ian pulled out this hawg. It's his first fish over 1 pound and man was he excited here's a couple of other pics of the day
  16. Weird, i was just thinking about posting a topic like this. Not specifically for the South, since I'm up North, but more of a general question. I am working to learn/develop a couple of techniques a season. But I'm always wondering what 5 or 6 techniques would be the best to work on. What I mean is that there are certian things i never get around to fishing. For example flukes, Carolina rigs and shakey heads. Even when a rod up with these I end up focusing on some other technique that day. And yes I know, if i want to learn a new technique just bring one rod rigged up that way to the lake. It just seems like theres never enough fishing time to learn it all
  17. welcome Greg, you'll find alot of great info around here

i'm actually going to be getting a permit to carry since i fish so often alone at night at boat ramps, and recently had a very scary experience at a ramp recently.
  19. i did that and am still waiting for my money. I figure it takes a few weeks to ship it from the UK though
  20. grey and black laminate yum dinger, fished like a jerkbait, drives the pickeral crazy around here. I've actually stopped fishing dingers because i get so many pickeral i don't get to catch bass with them
  21. Luvfishing, sounds like you've been trying alot of different stuff, maybe it's not the lures but the location. What have you been fishing? Sometimes i find myself focused on one type of structure or location because it looks "fishy" even when it isn't producing. Maybe try switching it up to some deeper water, or move from coves to points, or vice versa. Yesterday was a perfect example. I was fishing a river and kept fishin the side channels that had nice lillypad and grass growth. took me a couple of hours to figure out that the fish weren't there. Once i moved to the main channel and fished milfoil/grass lines that were in 4 foot of water dropping off into 9 feet, i caught 3 nice bass in just a few casts. It wasn't what i was fishing but where. if i only had time to find this pattern on more places in the river i wouldn't have ended up w/ only 4 fish for the day, and my dad with 1. hope this helps
  22. always a big fan of spinnerbaits if you find spots w/ nice current to fish them in. Haven't fished there yet this year, but last year did alright with them
  23. Happy 4th, to bad i'm stuck at work >

i keep them in their original bags and put them in different freezer bags for different catagories Ie: worms, creatures, topwater, etc. Then i put the freezerbags in a tackle bag. It keeps everything simple, inexpenisive and i'm able to find baits quickly because i just grab the freezerbag labelled worms if i need a worm, or tubes if i need a tube
  25. LMAO....KlubbaT, No way you'll be mistaken for a deer in that pic. It does make sense to wear some orange in the areas that I fish and hike too
