  1. I rig the SKinny diper with an Owner twistlock hook in 5/0. I sometimes use a BPS hook weight.
  2. I like the Reaction Innovetions Skinny Dipper. White Trash color.
  3. If I do peg a weight, I use a rubber pegging strip or a BPS bobber stop.
  4. I forgot about Custom Tackle. I bought my RX8 blank from Bob and met him in person at the rod builders expo. I HIGHLY recommend Custom Tackle.
  5. Mudhole carries G.Loomis. It is not often that you hear of people talking about Loomis blanks and I am assuming rod building kits in the same sentence.
  6. It helps to pause for a second when you hit a branch and let your crank float up and continue retrieving. It mimics a stunned baitfish when you pause.
  7. I have been using Gerber braid scissors for over a year with no signs of dulling. Well worth the $3.49 price tag.
  8. He only wishes he could be this cool.
  9. I would highly recommend the Rinshadow RX7 series of blanks
  10. Boiling water will remove reelseats
  11. I have a 2500 Shimano reel with 6 lb CXX on it that does good. Personally I would NOT use 8lb CXX on a spinning reel that size.
  12. The oven is to cure the powder paint after it has been dipped, not to head it up to dip.
  13. You have your order of operations wrong. It should be Preheat oven, then insert jigheads. Many ovens are real bad about turning all of the elements on during the preheat stage and it melts the weedguard. The first set of jigs I baked I actually melted the lead off the hook when the toaster oven was set at 350. I let the same toaster oven preheat 5-10 minutes and the jigs come out perfectly on that same heat setting.
  14. If I had the opportunity to I would > Thank you Swimbasser.
  15. Can someone measure the lip of a Symetre 2500(new model) and a Supreme 8030 for me? I need the measurements to be pretty accurate. Thanks Andy
  16. You can try to salvage the reel seat but if it a blank exposed reel seat there is not a good chance of it fitting your other rod. It is much easier to spend $4.25 to buy a new reel seat. I would not even attempt to remove a cork handle, I usually take pliers and rip it off in chunks. What model St. Croix is the rod and how old is it? Where did it break at?
  17. I typically use 2 1/2-3 tabs per jig to make a full skirt.
  18. I buy my jigheads with weedguards loose from Cadman on this board. He has very reasonable prices. Eventually I am going to pour my own, but it takes a bit of money to invest in that. Powder paint from Janns Netcraft, skirts from fishingskirts.com. I tie my skirts on with bowstring material so I don't use bands.
  19. After I use my fluid bed and bake the jigheads, I clean out the hole with a #30 drill bit before epoxying the weedguards in.
  20. epoxy and clean the excess with denatured alcohol.
  21. I really don't think that Ti-framed SIC's will offer you much advantage over alconites. If you really want to go all cork you can always do a Tennessee seat. I had always dismissed them as inferior until I saw Rich Forhan speak the other day and that is what he recommends. Andy
  22. I personally would recommend that you take a look at Batson. Their RX7 line is impressive for a mid priced blank and the RX8 would be hard to beat. I have heard it referred to as being SCIV level from several people a the the ICRBE. Check out the book by Tom Kirkman. Andy
  23. I will be there. I am leaving SC about 4am Saturday and am returning home late Sunday afternoon. I will send you a Pm with my cell number later, maybe we can meet up and chat for a few. Andy
  24. I wish I could make it this year. I had a great time last year and really enjoyed meeting Glenn, 5bass and everyone else at the dinner.
