  1. I use a #65 or 70 drill bit it goes right through the eye and leaves a round hole every time. Make a cheap fluid bed and you will have significantly fewer clogged eyes.
  2. I tear them up every time I go to my weedy lake with a lipless crank, either a red eye shad or a rat-tl-trap. I also use a Mann's baby-1 as it will go just over the tops of the weeds. It is a pretty awesome sight when the lure is right at the boat and a bass slams it from out of the weedbed.
  3. how about the first 4 casting and then the last 5 fly?
  4. On a 7'rod casting rod using alconite guides, when would you switch from casting to bridge to fly guides I was thinking casting 12 BLNAG casting 10 BLNAG casting 8 BLNAG bridge 8 BUNAG bridge 7 BUNAG fly 6 BLAG X4 What would you change?
  5. I am pretty sure I have decided on getting a Powell crankbait rod. Now the problem I am having is the 702 CB glass which is 7'medium mod-fast or the 704CB which is a graphite 7'medium mod-fast . Lure weight rating are the same for each. I fish a lot of lipless cranks in weeds and shallow to medium cranks.
  6. What kind of guides and reel seats come on Powell casting rods? I could not find the info on Powell's website. I am interested in the 702 or 704 crankbait models
  7. I am going to have to go get it tomorrow.I fish to Ver9.0 live quite often.
  8. A spinning setup is out of the question. I will throw topwaters, shallow and medium cranks and 1/2oz lipless cranks with this setup. I am replacing my BPS 6'6" MF extreme with a 7' M crankbait rod
  9. I thought that it Might throw them alright with how whippy that it felt in the store. Maybe I will just get a Powell or crucial
  10. If you live by an Academy sports check there. Mine has both the E5 and E7 on the shelf.
  11. I was looking at a 7' M David Fritts rod at Academy the other day. It has a lower end rating of 3/8oz. My question is how does it handle smaller 1/4oz crankbaits as I really like throwing 1/4oz shallow divers
  12. I would recommend a BPS extreme combo. If you wait a little while they will go on sale for $99 I would personally get a 6'6" M or MH http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_98422_100003001_100000000_100003000_100-3-1
  13. I am going to map out my lake and learn to be a better offshore fisherman. AS far as fishing ledges and humps with a t-rig/jig is it preferable to fish the structure from shallow to deep, deep to shallow, or across the incline?
  14. Has anyone tried using a lawnmower battery to run a sonar unit? What kind of life can I expect? How about putting 8 D-cell batteries together, What kind of life can I expect out of a set of batteries. I am using a Eagle Fishmark 320 and I only have 1 battery for the TM and sonar. I am trying to clear up a little interference issue I am having. Andy
  15. I sent you a PM with the email address of the guy I buy from.
  16. As soon as your buzzbait hits the water raise your rod tip and reel fast to get it to the surface quicker.
  17. While you are at it just go ahead an buy a Lansky or Gatco sharpener. They are the best sharpener that I have found and will give you a precision and repeatable edge. http://www.knifeworks.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=499
  18. That stuff smells like a turd wrapped in burnt hair!!! ;D ;D I love that movie I have a bottle of Clinique Happy and Aqua de Gio that I have not used in several years.
  19. I have beat the snot out of my Benchmade Stryker tanto point with a part serrated blade on a daily basis for 13 years now and it is still going strong. My next knife will be another Benchmade. http://www.knifeworks.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=8510 Right at $100
  20. Eagle Fishmark 320 from Academy for $119. I like mine
  21. Is the line tied to the spool( to one of the holes), or is the line tied around the spool with an arbor knot(preferred method)?
  22. I just ordered these new hook weights from BPS to try out. I ordered the 1/8oz so I can use one or add a second one to get to 1/4oz
  23. DIcks typically has a Lightning rod6'6" MH/ Abu Garcia silver Max baitcasting combo for $59. It has a $10 mail in rebate on it and if you look around you can always find a $10 off coupon to Dicks making the final cost $40
  24. I know nothing of doing a conversion like that but unless it has electric start you have to go to the back of the boat anyways so it might not be wort the money it will take
  25. when are they supposed to be released?
