  1. LOL! Great humor?
  2. Old comment but I like that! Tie one on, git 'er done, who cares why! LOL...
  3. Not guilty. Never have and never will walk away from the worm.
  4. Marty Burns customs rule my shallow efforts.
  5. Far to early for me to be sure but I may have an open seat on the 20th (Thursday). I sometimes have Thursdays off but it varies. IF I do, good bet I'll be fishing.
  6. I don't have anything new planned but I'll probably be trying to crank more often when/where I can. I'll be on some new water where that will factor in more so I've added 2 more cranking combo's to the lineup.
  7. I use either 6'6 M/F or 7' M/F St. Croix Premier with 14lb XT. Reels are 6.3:1.
  8. I don't want anything faster than 7:1, of which I own 2 (Daiwa T3 1016) All others are 6's and 5's and there are quite a few. I am about to gear one of my HSTA down to 5:1 as well. For me, anything beyond 7 is not needed. Yeah, I know all about the more pitches = more fish crap but I don't think it's that crucial to short distance shallow water performance. I use my 7's for fishing t-rig worms in deep water and I prefer 5's for spinnerbaits with bigger blades and deep cranks. But...IF all I fished was smallmouth I'd get more higher ratio reels. They like to run right at the boat and they come fast sometimes. I have a dedicated smallmouth finesse rig that has a Revo LTX (7.9:1) that I mainly throw tubes with just for this reason.
  9. That's exactly why I've always said I prefer free floating design.
  10. WD-40 is a tick poor lubricant if you count on it as such and there are better penetrating oils. It is better used as a solvent to cut grease if you must use it on your reels. Just don't use it as a lubricant.
  11. I have some 5's, a bunch of 6's and a couple 7's. I could get by just fine with 5's and 6's and don't need anything near 8 or beyond. I don't feel the need of anything faster I guess.
  12. I've got a bunch of each...Premier and Avid. I think the SCII blank is pretty darn good and if St. Croix would put Alconites on the Premier I'd never buy another Avid. My Premier are more sensitive than my GLoomis GL3 and close to my Shimano Crucials which are real close to my Avids. The Avid IS better than the Premier, but the Premier is NOT the turd some make it out to be.
  13. That's not easy to do. That's like 1 fish every 5 minutes for 8 hrs.
  14. I can't fish for bass yet, not until mid May.
  15. Jeff H replied to A-Jay's topic in Tournament Talk
Now that's just plain stupid! They're not all polite Tom.
  16. VMC for me.
  17. Smart man. Don't need expensive rods for cranking. Just find the power/action that makes you happy and enjoy.
  18. I just scored a mint condition original Fuego from eBay for $105 AND mint T3 MX for $130 through private sale. Both are favorites of mine and I consider them both "good" deals. If they'd come any cheaper I'd be truly excited. Now comes the expense of proper handles, drag stars and whatever else?
  19. I think Producto worms float. I don't remember for sure, I'll have to check mine again.
  20. I use about 5-6 different rods, none longer than 6'6" and my favorite is the Avid 6'2" M/XF of which I have 2. For the heavier baits, I use a 6'6" Crucial M/XF. All are M powers. The Avid 6'8" M/XF is a great choice if you want a longer rod. I do not care for mod actions for anything. Mod-Fast is acceptable for cranks.
  21. Well, just hold on a minute here! I promise I won't de-bling the reels if you will the rods along with them. In your honor they would never set on a St. Croix rod! I've more respect for you than that!?
  22. Can I get in your will? That's a Shimano collection even I'd be proud to use!
  23. Yep, probably can't do any better than that JMCarbonlite. The Pinnacle Producer LTE would be close, same weight but no 7:1 gearing (6.2:1) and costs $10 more. Quality is likely a wash.
  24. Absolutely! Awesome place to deal with! Funny thing, I'm headed there right now for some parts....again.
