  1. Lesner doesn't have a chance against Randy Couture. Couture will submit Lesner in the first round.
  2. Not to hijack the thread but as an active duty military member in the area, I've spent some time at Walter Reed. The injured men and women are all too often forgotten. Walking the halls will humble anybody very fast. It's alarming and depressing to see the number of soldiers that will never live a normal life because they were willing to sacrifice for our freedom. I just wanted to say thanks to those at Walter Reed, those here that serve (Brian_Reeves, SFC AL and others) that have and are making the sacrifice. Joe
  3. The Wii sports is by far my favorite game. My wife actually bowled a 300. I've been close before but Momma made me proud. The tennis is also sweet. You will enjoy. Joe
  4. That punk a$ needs to get the **** beat out of him. If I was his father, jail would be the last of his worries. Man that ticks me off. Joe
  5. Butt Rub Peanuts? Sounds like something that comes up after a night of tequila.
  6. What does she need a Dyson for? Do you have carpet in the kitchen? Seriously though, I bought my wife a Dyson a year ago and she loves it, almost as much as I do. Good luck. Joe
  7. We may be a bunch of idiots but we have good taste.
  8. Hey Robert, What's the price point for the new zillion rods? Thanks for the help. Joe
  9. What if that was a boat passed down in the family that he was to pass onto his son or daughter but some dirt bag stole it? What if you were in his shoes? Not trying to be a jerk but you really should have did the leg work prior to upgrading your jon. If the boat was stolen you could be charged with possession of stolen property. Again not trying to be a jerk but I think you may have gotten a little ahead of yourself.
  10. Dave, I would swing by Fred's in Waldorf next to the Verizon store and see if they might be able to order it. That would be your best bet in this area as I doubt a retail chain would even entertain the idea. Good luck on your quest. Joe

I'm in security on Andrews AFB just outside of D.C. Our air show is next weekend and is open to the public. If anyone is interested shoot me a P.M. and I'll hook you up with the details. The Blue Angels and Thunderbirds will be there. Joe
  12. I've learned a lot from Bill Dance over the years and continue to learn from him and others. The tip sounds trivial to most of us but it is amazing how many people overlook small details. For example, most people that ask me why I am using a certain bait don't take into account that the water they are fishing is 3 dimensional. I explain to at least one or two people every trip that bass will hold at different depths due to many circumstances. You use different baits to reach different depths that react differently to target fish. A great deal of novice fishermen think they can cast out a lure and if there are fish there they will bite. After I explain this basic fact you can almost literally see the light bulb in their head light up. If I can take a couple of minutes of my day to help someone become a better fisherman than the trip is a success whether I catch fish or not. Just my humble opinion. Take Care Joe
  13. I do see this quite often. While I do chuckle inside, I will usually suggest trying to turn the reel over and switching the handle. It's hard sometimes to remember, but we all started somewhere. This might be the little bit it takes to turn somebody into a life long fisherman. Take Care Joe

  15. Protesting at the funeral of somebody that paid the ultimate price for your freedom is as low as it gets. I've been serving in the military for over 9 years so I may be a little bit bias. If you don't agree with the war there are more respectable ways to voice your opinion. Many places are passing laws now that prohibit protesting at funerals based on acts like the one mentioned. People like that deserve to be the proud recipients of not so random acts of violence. Fishindaddy- I know you are joking, but to answer your question, peeing on somebody is also considered assault. You might as well give them what they deserve if it going to be the same charge. Not trying to offend anyone, just my opinion. Joe
  16. Thanks everybody for your support and uplifting words. I'm still in shock. I am not sure how I should tell my son or how he will take it. Again, I really appreciate everything. Joe
  17. Received some horrible news today. I just found out my 8 year old son's friend from across the street is dying of cancer. He has bone/brain cancer. His parents haven't told him, not sure if they will. I'm crushed. I wish there was some way I could take his pain away. Kimbrough
  18. Being proven innocent and not being found guilty are two different things...MJ might be suffering financially now but it is as a result of the poor decisions he made and the situations he put himself in. As for OJ, he should of cut his losses after he got off the first time. Karma will bite you in the @ss. My .02 Joe
  19. J and others expecting. First and foremost, congrats on the additions. Kids will turn your world upside down. You will be amazed at how much you can love one thing. Fishing will take a back seat but the urge will still be there. Cater to your moms-to-be and it will pay off big time later. Getting out on the water is still possible but try a little harder to schedule your fishing time in advance. Your significant other will appreciate your efforts, responsibility and respect for her. My baby girl is 18 months old and everyday that we spend together is a blessing. Her smile and laugh melts my heart every time. Take the time before your baby comes to focus on your relationship with your significant other because times will be stressful for the first few months. You will have to give 110% to keep your relationship happy and healthy for the first few months. Remember, everything's a learning experience. If you need anything or have any questions your friends here on BR are only a quick PM away. Again Congrats Joe
  20. I think it is great that the select few young kids and teens on these forums have recognized their passion for fishing and want to pursue a career in professional fishing. I also think that they are seeking sponsorship because they have neither the financial means or support to finance their fishing plans. I feel it would be next to impossible for someone so young to garner a sponsor, but the fact that they are expressing interest at this age may put them light years ahead of most of us once they become young adults. Personally, I would love to be a sponsored angler but my priorities, family and military life keep me from fishing as much as I feel is necessary to be competitive on the tournament circuit. If I were to seek out sponsorship it would only be from the companies I truly believe in such as Daiwa, GYCB, Lucky Craft etc. For instance, at my local lake I am approached routinely about my catches and have turned countless young and older fishermen alike onto GYCB. Why, because I know they flat out catch fish and if I can make a difference in somebody else's life it not only makes my day but it helps the sport we all love to grow. Bottomline is I will most likely never be a sponsored tournament fisherman but I think it is great that some of today's youth have recognized their passion early and are trying to pursue their dream. Joe
  21. I can't wait to see the TD Alphas type-r. The monkey is already kicking me in the n*ts and there aren't even pictures of it out yet. That is one sharp Zillion. Thanks Redline Joe
  22. That is one sweet pic Jake. It would be surreal to fish there, the wildlife, the clean air etc. Time would stand still for a little while anyway. Joe
  23. I learned about this site from a fishing buddy Mike Branch. Funny thing is, I've never seen him here. I joined probably about a year ago but am a man of few words when it comes to posting. I should post more but I get more enjoyment out of reading others' posts. I really enjoy the site and a big thanks to the mods and active members like Avid, Muddy, Redline Robert etc. that make this forum so enjoyable. Joe
  24. 40 in a 25 if you refer to the speeding ticket I received from Virginia State Police on Christmas, which is also my birthday. Long story short, I was pulling into a town moving with the flow of traffic when what do I see in the rear view mirror? Nope not Santa, the police. So he pulls me over and immediately asks if I am in law enforcement. I state yes and he asks for my license just to run it really quick. Less than 5 minutes later he presents my a court summons. The funny thing is I usually make it a point to stick at or near the speed limit, especially around kids/residential areas. Don't want to take the chance of hurting anyone. The highway I was on was poorly lit and unfamiliar. No excuse, I deserved the ticket. Sorry to hijack the thread Joe
  25. Here's a short list of some of the people I've encountered but I'm sure I'm forgetting several: First Lady Laura Bush - Nicest lady you'll ever meet SecState Dr. Rice - Nice lady, a true genius in every sense, I have much respect for her accolades and accomplishments Former SecDef Rumsfeld N.M. Governor Richardson Alberto Gonzalez Former President Bush - A very friendly, kind individual John Kerry Several Congress men/women Nick Lachey Diana DeGarmo Rosario Dawson - Actually met with her for role rehearsal/information gathering for an up-coming movie she is starring in - pretty interesting woman - very humble and personable Funniest encounter - we took Kid Rock on a USO tour a couple of years back and he asked my co-worker if he wanted an autograph, my co-worker didn't know who he was and told him he should be asking us for autographs
