swimbait vs shad body
OH NO YOU DIDNT!!!!! RAPALA IS FAR FROM CRAP!!!! but i agree, i think they will call just about anything a swimbait nowadays just cuz swimbaits are hot and stuff will sell w/ a name like "swimbait" on it.

Sanding Preference
why do you need to sand off the old finish anyway? when i repaint baits i just paint right over the finish.

Hi, I thought I would share a bait rig I thought of, and have used for over twenty years.
ok not bad. do the caps have any weight to them? the reason the nose of a soft plastic gets so torn up is from the constant re-rigging after fish or contact with cover. when the worm is locked on the hook it wont slide down so you dont have to re-rig. but you also dont need a big bulky cap to lock a bait on a hook....there was a little invention a while ago called a parasite clip. its very small and un-noticable. i love em! www.parasiteweights.com they also have parasite weights, which do the same thing except they have weight attached. if your little trick works for you then keep doing it! i think im gonna stick with parasite clips for now...

My first try
i use devcon 2 ton also. its the best that i have used (i havent used much though) but it is thick. alot of people like to thin it with some acetone after they mix it to make it easier to apply. i have never done this, no reason really, just havent. thinning it also elongates the drying time, giving you more time to work with it. good luck with your next ones!

Bill Dance

Size line for BC reels
the max i would use is 14lb. but thats just me. once you get past 14lb. it gets pretty thick and stiff and hard to work with. with braid on the other hand, i would go up to 60, but i'd prefer to use 50.

Megastrike - Cavitron - Evolution ????
i bought a cavitron a while back because i needed a good buzzbait (my strike king was falling apart on me). havent had a chance to use it yet, but i hear it is close to the best buzzbait ever! cant wait to put that to the test.

i think its a ghost town now!
based on your first post you have been repeating the same unsuccessful tactic over and over: fishing stuff on the bottom. maybe the fish are suspended! i was out the other day and i figured i'd go to deep water and fish the bottom with worms and stuff. i go to the deep part of the lake and whaddya know...theres quite a few fish, but the finder shows them suspended about 6 feet deep in 12 feet of water. so what did i do? tied on a rapala DT6 of course! caught a few that day! so in summary, just try different tactics if the same ole' isnt workin. good luck

My first try
first time-not bad but im gonna be fully honest with you, im not tryin to be a jerk, but those look pretty rough. here are a few tips that might help them look a little better: 1.) they look pretty rough around the edges. make sure you use sharp scissors or a sharp hobby knife to cut out the foil. 2.) this one might also help the rough edges. use a sharpie marker or other smooth blunt object to "burnish" the image youre putting on the bait. do it gentle but firm. i think this is actually a step in the totorial i showed you. it helps! 3.) did you paint the back and belly? looking at the first pic it kinda looks like you didnt paint the back. im sure the fish won't mind (they might :-?) but it will make your bait look alot better if you can get a good transition between foil and paint on the back and belly. 4.) is there epoxy over them? i think i see some epoxy but it kinda doesnt look like it. epoxy is ESSENTIAL!!! it will water proof your bait, make it more durable, and it will actually smooth out the finish on the bait. once again, i hope you dont take that too hard, im only tryin to help. they really dont look bad for a first time, just a little rough around the edges. keep at it! they will only get better! -Dave

Can this handle smaller swimbaits
what are the lure weight reccomendations for the rod? the reel will handle em no prob. and the rod seems like it would, as long as the lures are within the weight reccomendation.

Summer Jobs
im gonna apply at my local park this summer. sure it probably wont be very fun, i'll probably be picking up trash all day, but i get to ride around in a Gator! at least i'll be able to be outdoors and see what people are catching (thers a lake at the park). if anything, its better than standing behind a cash register

Stupid Warnings on Everyday Products!
i still cant figure that out :-? :-[ i was watching a show (cant remember it, wish i could! ) and it said that the reason they stick those tags on there is to cover up holes and other blemishes on the mattress that come from shipping and handling. it said if you rip them off once you buy the mattress "a swat team won't come swooping down on you" but you will probably find a tear on the mattress. really wish i could remember what show i saw that on. probably something on discoverey channel.
