  1. always wondered why they clump together the record for largemouth bass. i mean, they should have a record northern strain and a record southern strain, am i right? everything i have seen didnt clarify..... i mean, why not let people around my way go for the northern record instead of being put out of the race by people from cali and florida? any yankees feel my pain?
  2. i gotta say, iv caught smallies up to 4 and half pounds...nothing too crazy but the hardest fight i ever had was with a 2.5 lb smallmouth from the schuykill river. i was expecting a 6 lb fish, the thing took me back out twice! that one fish fought harder than all of my 3 & 4+ fish
  3. a bullmastiff huh? beautiful dog, i have an englihs mastiff, but she wont come out in no boat nmy little pug cut his foot the last time we went out on my inflatble and he was running around with blood going EVERYWHERE.... he was painting and tryiong to jump out.... IT WAS HORRIBLE! :'( the noise he was making sounded horrible, and people were fleeing from the area when they heard it....
  4. i would try out: small profile baby jigs with small profile crawfish as a trailer and drag it in slowly....or hop it, and pause it go Black with blue flake or black and red flake Also, finnese worm on a small drop shot style rig....like a kuttaIL worm by yamamoto Creature bait weightless with a heavy 4/0 hook tubes, fished many ways are always productive but i say, Jigs are my everyday choice on the river!
  5. well what do you guys think? should i just stick with mono? i am a bank fisherman, who mixes it up a lot on the water, but i would only change the line about 3 times a month. So i want to be able to do what i want, versatility is it worth the crossover? how does it do in hang-ups? dont use topwater as a reason NOT to use fluero,. im not a topwater guy : ) thaqnks for all the help!
  6. looking for a good first fluerocarbin for casting on a spinning real. I dont like leaders, so i was looking for one i can run straight by itself i usually use spiderwire 8lb test...but i use a lot of jigs, and i have heard about fluero forever and wanna give it a shot... any suggestions on a nice fluero to try out
  7. i got 2 shimano tacklebinders and think their great, make sure a get the new series, the bags are better... but i need help too, what the heck can i keep THEM in>???
  8. what do you guys think is the best color senko to immitate a baby bass? what do you think... "baby bass", the laminated "watermelon creme", laminated "watermelon pumpkin", or regular "watermelon with black flake", any others?
  9. what do you guys think of Roboworm products? In specific the zipperwormd and the robocraws? seems like nice colors, and a lot of love goes into the pouring...how are they in the water?

  12. sure....i chum all the time. just a get a bucket, mix in chopped up dead mackeral, stinky old fish remains, fish bones, scraps, and a whole bunch of blood, now just troll the boat slowly and scoop it out.... after you start to see them coming in, now is the time Take the Shark cage and drop it in the water SLOWLY...
  13. they had this book at the dollar store for a new hardcopy, i got one it is pretty cool....the writer does a good job of giving you all sides of the chase..... its not really about fishing, just about the chase for the record, but its must reading for anybody who fishes florida bass, or is chasing the record theirselves

  16. Heres mine: The Day She Got Away You cast out. Its been a slow day, but something deep inside you is telling you the day is far from over. You Cast out, and as the lure finds the bottom you casually light your last ciggerette. The lure sits and sits, and just when the moment is officially relaxing... BAM. You know this is the big one. You can tell by the way it is controlling its own movements, not just dragging on the end of your line like a hyperactive toy poodle on a leash. She is using her power to take you out deep. As you let her flee, in the back of the head you are waiting for her to tire. You know this power has its limitations, and you know its all a matter of time before you take control again. Just a matter of time. After a short pull, you Finally start to get her on her way in. She starts to take you down the shoreline a little bit, and as you casually walk down the shoreline, you realize she is finally close enough where you can see just how big she is. You feel pretty confident in your 6 lb test and hookset, but not enough to sit and stare at this beast while shes still in the water. You decide to worry about gettiing her in first, and admiring her second. The random flashes are pulsating in front of you as you try to churn her in. Then, in an instant, this fish is entirely exposed as it enters the shallow water against its will. The first thing you notice is the dark color. Seems darker than usual, but maybe its just the size. Its all happening so quickly you arent really thinking, but making quick observatuions that wont make sence until you have a chance to actually think about them. This fish is easily 2 or 3 pounds larger than anything you caught all year. You realize this now, as you squat down to try and pull this beast out of the water. But something is wrong, you can tell, because the moment of serenity has ended with a flash of a tail, and a splash large enough to turn the dirt caked on your timberland boots into thick, slimy mud. The moment turns from a free-flowing flash to a dead stare. You are now still, looking directly at your lure, now laying limply where the water meets the shore. Then the moment hits, The fish is no longer under your control, and you realize this. In an instant, you see the big fish, and you see that this big fish has big plans- that dont involve you! As much as the fish would love to part ways, she is stuck in about 3-4 inches of water and rocks. She is powerfully flopping around, inching her way out of the shallow water, using the big rocks on the bottom as leverage to escape. At this moment you comtemplate jumping in after her. You envision yourself wrestling with a large, whale like creature, but suddenly your mind is jolted back to reality with a final splash. The fish is swimming, not flopping. At this moment the frustration you feel is peaceful. Calming. Like the way many would describe a near death experience. You sit their, and stare out into the water. The moment feels strangely positive for what just took place. Is this what you hate about fishing, or is this secretely what you love. They say deap down that degenerate gamblers play to lose. Is this the same? As you try and decide you blindly reach into your pocket to pull out a ciggerette. You feel the phantom pack, empty back, and realize its time to head in. You take one last look, shake your head, "NEXT TIME"!
  17. Great Post. MY answer-ALL OF THE ABOVE but the worst would be the following: The Day She Got Away You cast out.
