  1. iv used many, dont like the yum chunks, and pork is good, but id still go with a plastic anyday MY FAVORITE TRAILOR OF ALL TIME- GYCB FAT BABY CRAW black with blue specks.... Close second is the double tail grub by GYCB, works nicely as a trailor as well I like the way GYCB cast comprared to other trailors....its no comparisoon when fishging from the shore and you need a long cast
  2. I had no idea EVERYBODY goes with the Black/blue Thats my color all day....except an occassional white color or cream but mostly black, with some blue is the way to go aorund here!
  3. Thinking of buying a 14" mirrorcraft double hull aluminum 3 seat boat. The boats got a 15hp evinrude engine with only 20 hours on it. comes with a low grade trailer.. all for $500......alright shape. not sure what year but most likely a 80s or 90s what do you guys think? good deal? it would be my first boat. all i got right now is a inflatable. THANKS
  4. wow! are those all bucks county fish? i think i'll have to start comin up that way. some nice slobs ya got there! they are nice!!! if they are bucks county fish, im doing something wrong.....cuz only a county over and i dont think iv ever caught a largie over 5 lbs then again, this was my first year back and i spent the last 2 months of summer on the river
  5. i wish it was always that easy.....my girl hooked about 3 bass this year and she still rolls her eyes : every time i say im going fishing......
  6. the other day an obviousely single mom saw me fishing alone on the dock and dropped off her 10 year old son and told him to talk to me....and learn i thought it was nice, and told the kid everything i know in about 20 mins.....i gave him all my spots, the whole bit then their are the times where i see teenagers Kicking back the fish they catch......they die immediately from the kick, it is the saddest thing iv ever seen, at least its just bluegills...they cant even catch a bass i would tell those kids to cut off their own fingers.....and fish them wacky rigged..... short answer- all depends on the person
  7. Ever heard of "Joes Flies" inline spinners.... i would take a Joes inline spinner "cheese" style.....looks like a mix between a fly and a cheese ball... take off the spinner part so it is just a fly with 2 hooks... now take 2 kernals of corn, put one on each hook.....and cast just let it fall, it will fall very slow, and lift it, try and let it drift in the middle of the water.... Let me warn you, yesterday was my first day fishing trout and they feel VERY DIFFERENT from bass.... they are slimy, and VERY hard to handle......just be ready and wet your hand
  8. last thursday: I wore a suit to work, but on the way out the weather actually looked warm so i borrowed my coworkers running shoes and hit the schukill after walking through the woods, i noticed a big glass window shattered all around my feet. I stepped way, and walked right into a big jagged peice of broken glass. The piece of glass went through the top of the running shoes as i took my step, and right into my big toe. At first, it was numb and i wasnt sure how bad it was, then when i took a step, blood started foaming out of the top of the shoe.....every step it would bubble out like a volcano.... it waS making me lightheaded, anf for a second i didnt know what to do, i was alone in the woods, and loosing blood fast. I actually saw people but was too embarressed to yell for help. I ended up hobbling to my truck, leaving an obviouse blood trail on the cement, it was actually making the sound of soaking wet shoes and making that "squish" sound every step.... whi8le driving home i realized that blood had soaked the entire shoe, and was getting all over my pedals and making me slip all around it was pretty scary untill i got home...
  9. i know, it sounded bad the way i said "wasted time" my mistake.....i just had a real good fall season so now when i dont catch anything, as great a time as i have, i dont last too long...... thanks for ideas......every time i see somebody going in the water i cross my fingers they will invite me the one time i caught a nice smallie as a guy by himselfv was getting his boat in the water.....i was hoping when he saw i could catch he would invite me.......but he seemed a little weird and didnt even acknowledge me or my catch.....lol
  10. Ok,. i cant take this no fishing stuff.....so i gotta make it happen i dont have a boat, and iv read that most bass "winterize" meaning most likely going deep.... my question is this, as a shore fisherman with no boat....what is my best option 1) HIt up the schukill river from the shore, the loading dock, and a few other somewhat shallow areas... The river has had rain off and on for a week now, the levels are going up and down like crazy 2) go to my normal lakes and try some largemouth from the shore, or even from a blowup boat...they are going up and down as well, but the river just gets messed up and the lakes seem ok Thanks for the help, i just dont wanna get hyped, and find out my chances of catching a winter or late fall bass is slim unless im in deep water bottom line, am i wasting my time from the shore in cold weather????
  11. im not a braid guy, it scares me..... anything from stren to spider wire, 6lb and 8 lb test iv had a great season in the river........barely missed a fish all season in the schuykill
  12. I know what you mean....its the way they are made.....but thats why they work so good too! WATCH OUT FOR THE FOLLOWING: ** tackle box that is too small- This will often make this problem happen more often ** Closing the bag- Make sure that you seel the bag with nothing in the way, and try and get ALL the air out...this will help ** dont buy the GY baits that come in the old packaging- the packaging means it older, and they arent as wide....they tend to bend the bait more than the big bags that the new ones come with ** Make sure the tackle box closes perfectly- sometimes it isnt obviouse, but things get stuck in the trap door, and bends your stuff ** Buy a tackle binder ** dont play with the baits, take them off the top when using them so you dont cross the baits in the packaging
  13. SALTWATER: croakers i think there called.....small and black....they fight good when i first hit it, and i think maybe i got a flounder, or a solo bluefish, they are nasty and i gotta use a towel to get the hook out FRESHWATER: SMALL PIKE- I can tell usually because they hit it and you feel a 2 or 3 small taps...... after about 5 secs of a fight, they literly drag accross the surface, it makes you look like an idiot when you catch them also, with the teeth, i never know how to handle them becuase i catch them so rarely...just a pain in the butt,.....unless they were bigger

  18. i felt kind of bad leaving my Mother and going fishing on that day...but she was in better shape than me and i needed to clear my head... I feel like it was a sign that im doing fine, and to keep fishing and living like i am....that hes ok, and im ok first cast, this beast, with no fight? Too strange and coincidental.... it definately seemed like their was other things at work here....
  19. what you say is true....i used to be one of them guys...... but now im good, thank god.....that life is a downward spiral.... anyway, thanks for all the kind words abnout my poppop and my fish that fish was crazy, biggest freshwater fish iv ever caught,.....i thought it would be 6 lbs for sure....it had me looking up state records....lol

  21. GOT MY PERSONAL BEST SMALLMOUTH TODAY! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fish:Smallmouth Bass 4.2 Lbs Location: Schuykill River, Phoenixville, Pa Rod/Reel: Shimano Sedona Lightweight (6 feet) (6lb test) Lure/Bait: Strike King Bitsy FLip Jig (Junebug) W/ GYCB Baby Fat Craw Trailor (Junebug) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A 4.2 Lber....out of the schuykill river...off of the River Trail on pawlings road for anyone who is familiar with the area.... the back story is that today was my Grandfathers funeral..He was one of my closest friends and mentors.....I miss him, he was a great man. After the funeral was over, i went to the river to clear my head.... First cast, I let it drift down the current.....a couple minutes go by, and I finally get out of the current, and realize that I have a fish.... I start to real in, and it felt like a small smallmouth, i would have guessed under a pound..t he only thing i realized was that when it would go near the surface it seemed very large...i thought at the beginning that something was snagged on to my fish...like a brush pile or something... finally, the fish reached the shallow stuff, and i saw the size....i was shocked and excited..i had just changed down to 6lb test, and wondered if i could lift it out of the water... he ran a few times, but still no power compared to what i would expect...I know my 2.6 Lber i caught a few days ago fought about 300% harder than this fish.... I know its weird, but i feel like my grandfather helped me with this fish, a message..I feel better knowing that strange things like this happen... Anyway, here are the pics.....ENJOY
  22. my first real "natural" plastic worms with bullet weights......my first artificial that worked besides an inline spinner when i first started, IN LINE SPINNER WAS THE THING! they were the best for everything from perch to bass to false hooking a carp..... this season i learned senkos and they started pretty natural to me too....
  23. there real good.....but you gotta get the weight right the ones i use that have soft plastic are made by cabin creek baits.....sold in 2 parts....and together singles for 1.79
