As long as you get the bait to work, your fishing it ok. Steady retrieve, jerk, retrieve-pause...which ever. I usually do either a long jerk then pause, or a steady retrieve for 1-3 feet, then pause. I use it when the bite is average and/or I have to call the fish from deeper water. Much like a popper. Morning or early night time. IMO, they are a good search bait.

Well, I have decided to move from MN. I am open to area's to move to. Looking for an area with CNC lathe machining or injection molding jobs, with good Bass and Crappie fishing within a couple hours drive. Good 'Eye fishing too would be a big plus. Thanks

1) Nothing, if your using high quality, pure fluoro line. I use Carbon pro instead of "leader" line. IMO, it's the best "value" out there. Some tough stuff. 2) Do what you like, like what you do. I make sure I ALWAY's have a leader on braid when I'm fishing shallow. Depending on my mood, deep structure, and water clairity, I may or may not use a leader when I fish deeper water. Generally I do use them. 3) 2 suggestions: 1) Retie the leader on more often. 2) Make sure, as your cinching the knot, your not damaging the line. IMO, saliva is better than water to cinch knots, I alway's put the loose knot in my mouth and wet it before cinching.

I've had bad spools from a few "name brands". PP is the only one I have sworn off, only becouse I found lines I all around like better, so why try it again???

The store I usually shop at didn't have the panfish bobbers I wanted, so I went to Gander mountain. On a table, in the isle, there was a special on Pro picked lure combo's. They were marked down, then they added a buy 2 get one free special on top. They are 3 packs of lures. I got a DT pack with the thinner DT's, and 2 packs with a HJ, X-rap, and X-rap deep in it. Pretty good colors too. Cost $30 for all 9 lures.

Depending on the size of BC your looking for, Sportsmans warehouse still has the $160 deal on Fuego's and Sol's. Search the web for their website. Any store will ship most everything free, as long as the order is over $100.

20lb Sufix

I've wrote this before, but I'll give a quick overview again... I don't like to waste line, so this is what I do..... Take one of those clip on line counters and spool X amount of line onto your reel, what ever amount will divide up the spool evenly. Now fill up the reel to the proper level with backing. Next mount an empty spool on a bolt an put it on a drill. Strip the line off the reel. Transfer the line to another spool so the backing is on the outside. Now spool up the reel and go fishing.

Yes it is! It is my rod for light plastics and worms. Very highly recommend it as a light lure, ultra sensitive, spinning rod with plenty of backbone.

I have 10lb on my light setup, I tried 6, but it didn't go well. I have 14lb on my medium setup, it works well too. I have 20lb on my MH crankbait rod that works well too. I have 20lb on my heavy rod too. Those are all, braids, and all specialized setups. IMO, 20lb braid is a good size. If you need to go to a light or non visible line, throw on a leader. If you want to use mono, 10-15lb would work well. No comment on spooling up Fluoro.

I don't know. I have 2 crankbait rods, 4 IMX rods, 2 GLX rods, and a Walleye rod. I think the Walleye rod may be on par with the GL3's, but it does work well for the lower price compared to $50+ higher priced IMX rods. I know the Avids are nice rods, but they are not quite up to IMX's, they are slightly more bulky IMO.

Yeah, I just found that out about 6lb braid. It doesn't work on the Sol very well. I think I'm going to put it on the spare spool for my 8025 and use it to throw little cranks for Crappies and sunfish. I like 10lb braid on spinning reels, and I'm going to try it on the Sol. I want to know how it works, good or bad. I do have plenty of 6-20lb mono and 10-20 braid, so I can spool up what is needed. Thanks for the input so far, my rebate check might have to go for 2 Pixy's.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Presso. I'll have to look at that one too.

Well, I need 2 baitcasters for 6-10lb line. Do I need the Pixy reels to throw 1/8-1/4 oz lures with 6-10 lb braid and 6 or 8lb mono??? I do have a Sol, but I'm really attracted to the Pixy, but then again, I can get Sol's for $160. I will consider other options, but, they MUST be small framed and MUST be under 8oz.

I have plenty of time in with my Loomis crankbait rods. I'm sorry to say that anyone that thinks that they are not the best rods for cranks and topwater lures is just flat out wrong....IMHO. I have the 781 and the 845, both spooled with Sufix braid. I have ran cranks, and played with topwater lures in the pond (season was not open yet to fish lakes), best action out of topwater lures ever. Sufix braid is smoother than Stren Superbraid, holds up better than PP, and is more manageable on the spool than Spidewire Stealth. My new go to braid, but I still don't have a problem with Stren or Spiderwire. Yo-zuri. I tore off the regular hybrid becouse it kept snaping on me. Not impressed. While the Ultra soft is not as manageable as tough mono, I haven't had any complaints with it...yet. I have a couple other new products still in the testing stage, anyone else try new products this year????

No, a 6 inch rod really isn't long enough for Bass fishing. Seriously, a 6' rod is just fine. It will work well with the line, and as long as it has enough "backbone" to move the fish, it will work. With 4lb test, your not really going to be fighting the fish too hard anyway's. The drag will be doing most of the work protecting the line and the rod. As long as there isn't much cover, you shouldn't have much of a problem.

The Sol????

I must be getting lucky then, I have been using Sufix and Stren braid on the river becouse of all the junk floating and rocky rapids. So far the braid has held up well, wish I could say the same for the regular Yo-Zuri Hybrid that kept snapping, leaving my lures in the river. I am using 20lb braid.

Mono, Trilene XT, braid, Stren Superbraid, Suffix braid, original Spiderwire.

I just picked up an MBR782C GLX rod for the bargain price of $240...new. I know it will work well for 'Eye fishing, I planned on using it for 'Eye fishing when I bought it, but what Bass techniques would it work well for too???

I just had to pull off a full spool of Hybrid, becouse the line snapped while removing a nest I made playing with the cast control. First time I have ever had line snap like that.

1) No, but the ease of use and the consistant tension make it worthwhile. 2) No, not really. Backlash is caused by having the cast control set too light. While having a loose wound spool might make the "over run" worse, it won't reduce the chances of having "over runs".
