What are you waiting for????
You got a good point there. I view learning as a perpetual thing, but weather down time is a real good time to put emphasis on it.

Curious on what the current ACTUAL makeup of the site is...
Well, I didn't really want to on the fun side, more of an open to interpretation thing. If you notice, "a lot" is the top non structured option. So, if a good portion of your free time is dedicated to fishing, then I would say that is a lot. A day during the week, and a couple weekends a month would be next, then maybe a few day's a month next lower, and so on down the line....

One rod to rule them all?
Hmmm, I wonder how that will effect the sale of his line of signature series rods??? I can see that to a point though. I use light's for pan fishing, mediums for Walleye fishing and MH/H's for Bass. I'm not sure about the action part though. I like my moderate crank rods and fast/extra fast jigging/worm type rods

Let's be honest now, nobody but the mod's can tell how you actually voted. Your more than welcome to answer below too. I fish for fun...a lot. Note: You will be able to see the results once you close it to voting.

Shimano Crucial vs. Loomis GL2
At least it wasn't a Senko thread. ;D

If you could fish only 1 brand of lipless crank?
I have a 'Trap or two, and I have a handful of Rapala's I got cheap last fall. Not knocking the Rapala's, they seem to work fine, but I think if I had pick one brand, I would go with the original's. I don't see any "improvements" made to it by other company's, only their "version" of it.

West Coast Style
Might seem like a trivial question, but what is the mouth/line eye made of. It looks like a real small U bolt being used as the eye for the line. Looks like a real nice bait too.

How much does Lucky Craft pay you to use their name as a screen name????

What are you waiting for????
Oh, I forgot that one. My Vantage transom mount grenaded last fall on the last trip out, I have to take that in for repair.

Well, Shimano rods are the red headed stepchild of Loomis rods, so...

I have seen the light!
That was an emotional roller coaster. Here I thought, going by the title, this was going to be about that fancy new Flewgrrrr you got. Here I open the thread to find it's just a shimano thread. :'(

What are you waiting for????
With ice still on the lakes up north, about all we have to do is plan and prepare for spring. Kind of like a Christmas list, what are we waiting to go on sale, sign up for, fix, mod, spruce up, etc... I'm not a tournament fishing person, so I'm not waiting for sign up forms for any events. I have all the rods I want...reels too. I am waiting to see if certain lines go on sale. Certain crank baits too. I am also waiting for the new Daiwa catalog so I can order my reel mod parts. That's about it for me....

? about two St Croix rods
Well, if the Croix rods are like the Loomis rods, then you'll find that the back bone of the spinning rod will be a little softer than the same casting rod. I would use the spinning rod for weightless worms, T-rigged, Whacky rigged, etc... you could also get by with using it for small top water lures too. Use the casting rod for weighted rigs, bullet weights and the likes, small jigs, small shakyhead, etc... and mid size top water lures. Just some idea's...

Deal or no deal!!! Let's see your deal!!!!
Close to the same thing happened to me with my GLX rod. A store, sent me the GLX instead of the Mossyback. Instead of paying for all the shipping charges to exchange it, I got it for $50 more than the discounted Mossyback price. I have no idea if they would have even caught it if I had not called them. I wanted to make it right though. There just may be something to that Karma thingy. Since that order, I have gotten some great deals at that same store and other stores too.

Favorite rod brand??
Have you got your hands on any of the new Elite tech rod yet?

Fishing/boat shows - a thing of the past?
I haven't attended this in a few years, but this is the mother of all sports shows in the upper midwest. http://www.northwestsportshow.com/ We have a pretty good size boat show too, seeing as we have 4 huge names in boat makers in this state. Word has it that the last few years have been tough for boat sales around here though. http://www.minneapolisboatshow.com/

BERKLEY SPOOLING STATION??
I've taken it apart and reinstalled it a couple times (for storage purposes) and have not had an issue with it.

Seriously,do you guys carry a rod and reel combo for every type of fishing you do?
Things have changed since I added a couple rods, so the plan is this.... If I plan on spending the day Bass fishing, I'll have 4 rods to bring with. Very rarely do I have 3 rods out at one time. I'm figuring that I will alway's have my crankbait rod ready to go, no matter what, as usual, and then I will switch between having my worm rod or heavy general purpose rod or medium general purpose rod out. If I only have a couple hours to fish, I'll most likely just grab the crankbait rod, and the worm rod.

Deal or no deal!!! Let's see your deal!!!!
I've got some pretty good deals on all my big ticket items, but the best one still remains the now $230 MSRP Loomis IMX casting rod for $87. 8-) Although, the now $285 MSRP MBR785 rod I got for $150 was a pretty good deal. Then again, the now $230 MSRP IMX SJR721 rod I got for $120 is nothing to be ashamed of either. Well, come to think of it, the now $365 BSR803 GLX rod I got for $222 was a decent deal too.

Fess up, your smallest fish last year...
Snag it, or did it bite??? I've snagged a few smaller fish before.

Fess up, your smallest fish last year...
We all know we want to catch the biggest fish, and the most fish, but sometimes...well, maybe most of the time, the fish don't care what you want. I picked up my 721 casting rod and thought I would see how it worked with my litttle 01 Rapala countdown minnows. I went over to a fairly well known Crappie hole to see if anything was there. About 20 cast's into my search, I felt what I thought was the lure catching a weed. I thought nothing of it and kept cranking the lure in. I started to notice the line tracking slightly to the right. I got the lure up to the boat, and...THERE'S A FISH ON. I kid you not, this LMB was so small, I think the treble hook was actually prying his/her mouth open farther than normal. The fish fell off before I could grab it, but I would say the fish was very close to 3 times the length of the little 1 inch lure. I did find out that the rod is not that good for cranks either. Glad I got my 721 spinning rod to try.
