  1. Sorry But, I seem to miss understand the statements here? The poll is a simple question That I was curious about. I did not say anyone was wrong???????? I joined to learn (seriously) I don't do this to have the wife nag me for being on the computer. I'm no pro but, I look forward to trying the things I'm learning here. and I thank those in advance who have the patients to teach.
  2. I think this just about sums it up for me. I am for the most part righty but can do just about everything lefty just as well (some things I actually do do lefty). But I would say righty is my power side. The long circle retrieve on a spinning reel feels best for me on the left side and the rod in my right (power hand). Now like this example says on a baitcaster where the retrieve circle is smaller it feels better in my right hand and the pole in my left. But after seeing this example maybe its more of the length of the retreive circle. It seems like when bringing in a fish with spinning gear you really want your power hand on the pole as I feel this is how you are actually pulling that fish in. Now on a baitcaster for me anyways when bringing in a fish your hands are almost together so your are using both, so you have more leverage, so this is where you want your power hand on the reel. This is how I see it and again after reading about this experiment it makes obvious sense to me. Theres no right or wrong just what feels most comfortable to you.
  3. I agree the poll is messed up cause he has 2 choices for casting and 2 choices for cranking and you can only vote once so you have to vote for cranking style or casting style, not a combo of the 2!! There should really be 4 choices; Cast right crank right Cast right crank left Cast left crank left Cast left crank right As for as switching hands being wrong thats your opinion, it doesnt bother me in the least bit and I see quite a few tour guys doing it on TV so if there wrong then count me in I just cant get used to the feel of a lefty baitcaster or a right handed spinning reel.
  4. I would say your close with your analogy RW, but its more like Tiger having a different set of clubs every tourny he goes to, or for everyday of a tourny. One day/tourny with XX stiff flex, somw with X stiff, some with stiff, some with medium and some with regular flex. Every tourny he would be off cause his muscle memory would be off. I think thats what Clunn was saying. If you use a Heavy/Fast (or whatever your preference is) rod by 1 particular maker, and the same length (although I am not sure he uses the same lenght for all his rods or not) you will have that same feel for for every application, and know how to set the hook, fight the fish, detect bites, how the rod is gonna cast etc, etc........ for every rod you pick up.
  5. Sweet boat there!! Almost as nice as your avatar
  6. Yeah I just watched it myself. Awesome footage. I want to see a largemouth version now!! I wonder if they could of got that close if they weren't spawning
  7. Baitcasters I cast righty and crank righty so I do the switch thing. For spinning gear I cast righty and reel lefty!!!
  8. d.hark replied to zelmo's topic in Fishing Tackle
I dont, but I am very interested in the No-knot fast snaps. They look very small and cant see them doing anything to disrupt a particular lures action. Has anyone used these and what are your thoughts
  9. Yes its true you can get any of those reels for less than retail on Ebay. But you cant justify a poll on whether you can great deal or not on Ebay. But I do have a complaint about the poll. You can get the Curado for $150 with rebate so that should be addressed in the price.
  10. http://www.gulfcoasttacklebox.com/specials.html It says $15 off thru the holidays so dont know if it still is in effect, cant hurt to try
  11. You should be able to find last years model of the Stradic for that much if you look around. Awesome reel for the money. Dont know of anyone who has one that has bad to thing to say about it. Otherwise alot of people say the symetre is pretty close to the stradic so that would be your second choice
  12. well they are "like" new. Each only used a couple times from what I have been told. Steez should be here tomorrow and GLX next week. Now do you at least despise me Also forgot to add the 12ft pelican jon, 55lb minnkota, and hundreds of $$ in lures and plastics
  13. The new stuff, Stradic and Avids came from Dicks well before the sales. I go te Citica before the rebate that is going now so that was a good price at the time. All the used stuff came from the message boards like this one, and I think are all steals!!!!
  14. In the last 2 weeks I bought a Steez 103HA and a Loomis MBR844c GLX. Just couldnt pass em up. So for the year I have bought 1 Stradic 2500 $99 new 2 Avid 66mhf spining $99 new 3 Citica $85 used 4 Avid 70mf casting $99 new 6Calcutta 300te $100 used 7 St Croix legend tourny swimbait rod $95 used 8 Steez 103 HA $335 used 9 MBR844 GLX $235 used You guys are gonna get me divorced. Think I am gonna have to put the citica on the GLX for now until I get someting else. Maybe a Curado or STX. I think the steez is gonna have to go on the Avid as I have been told its more for lightweight lure and I assume the GLX is too heavy for it
  15. Hey Raul can you swap each others spools or tune each other to make em cast heavier or lighter lures depending on which model you are trying to change?
  16. Budget isnt that much of an issue just dont want to spend anymore than I need. I was looking at the G loomis BSR 852 or the BCR 852, both seem to fit the reels needs according to you guys. Where does the mossyback series stand in comparison to the IMX or GLX models? Right now I am fishing St Croix Avids and these are by far the best rods I have ever used. Is a mossyback a big step up? Is the GLX that much more noticable than the mossyback? Or if you guys have any othe suggestions in the $300 and under LMK
  17. Thanks Raul I dont typically use anything lighter than 1/4- 3/8 which is why I am a little disappointed that it really doesnt make mention of that anywhere where I found info on the Steez's. I consider light 1/2 or lighter which is what I thought Micro was gonna use with the exception of the 3/4 jig or weight?? I will surely give it a try when it warms up up here in Ma. So what kinds of lures do you suggest and how about a rod to go with it Also when you guys are talking about line, do you mean line diameter or strength ?
  18. Thanks Micro. I dont know why they just cant put that info in the specs for it. Cause I couldnt find anything that would suggest that!! The only thing that I couold distinguish bewtween the 2 were that the 100 held 14/120. 16/100 and the 103 held 12/120, 14/100. So even though Daiwa told you 12lb and under on the 103 it suggests it can do 14/100. A little misleading if you ask me. Wouldnt it be alot easier to say what weight lures each individual reels throw best, instead of line capacity?. Cause I just got a 103HA and dont know if I will throw that light a stuff with it :-[
  19. Would Be really nice it it was digital

  21. Alright so If I understand this corrctly it goes like this 103HA = V spool, Mag V system, better for lighter lines and lures 100Ha = U spool and Mag Z system, better for heavier lines and lures Is that right? What do you consider appropriate lines and lure weight for each then? Cause You origanally recomended the 100 and it seems what the OP wants it for are fairly light (or what I would consider light) lures. But wouldnt the 103HA be better suited for that according to what you just said?
  22. So the 103ha has the Mag V system and the newer 100ha has the Mag Z system? Is there a big difference in the 2? Is it just about what weight lures you are throwing?
  23. You are gonna put casting reels on a spinning stick?? I am confused?? Or are you?? :-/ If you are looking at spinning reels for your spinning rod I would suggest the Stradic either the new one or the older one is just fine.
  24. I saw this on another board. Looks like a good fit maybe. I dont know much about Skeeters but they have been around a while so they must be decent. I was thinking the same thing as you. I want a bass boat that I can throw in the bays up here in Mass and fish for stripers. http://www.skeeterboats.com/product_pages/zxsaltboats/zx20bay.html
